This made me laugh bc my parents also put me in Chinese classes when I was a kid, but it was all in Mandarin! Didn't understand a thing, didn't learn anytbing at all. I think actually it was a way for the parents to be free from their kids for a bit... 😂
Greetings from Sydney Australia. Wow! I just listened to that full conversation. You talked to that lady and answered her questions for almost an hour, speaking with a good level of Cantonese. For non-native Cantonese speakers like myself, it is like running a marathon. Gold medal for you Brittany ... 👍👍👍
I just wanted to study cantonese at first, but after Inspirlang introduced us to Hoisanese on this channel here i thought what the hell let's study that one too. These languages need our support
Sometimes speaking Chinglish is better than speaking pure Chinese (and speaking very poorly and not conveying your intended message). Though I would like to improve my Cantonese over time.
@@bringbackmy90s Let's not bring up yt people for validation. The yt devils want us all divided. Both Cantonese and Mandarin can coexist, like many languages in India also coexist.

Really enjoyed this episode of the pod!! Motivated to level up my canto game 😅
I'm amazed that you know each other!
The cantonese learning/teaching community is actually a pretty small world!

I agree but sometimes you can’t fall back on English, for example when I talk to my popo!

Come on, Mandarin is boring. Only Cantonese for Europe and North America
