Dim sum cravings totally activated after watching this video and I only just had it yesterday 😂 We don’t have curry cuttlefish here at yum cha in Australia! I wish we did, though! Omg there needs to be an episode where Jared orders everything HE wants. I wonder how different it would be compared to the typical family ones 😂
Two dishes I don't think I saw (but I may have missed) where Char Siu Sou (roast pork in flaky pastry) and Dau Miu Gow (Pea Shoot Dumplings). These are two of my faves and I always order them whenever they're available. Fun video, really enjoyed seeing how others feel about some of my favorite cuisine!
@@cantobritt I think part of the issue is how expensive Dau Miu has become post-pandemic. Once upon a time you could get a pound for about $3-5/lb. However, it's skyrocketed to about $8/pound (at least in NYC) so many of my fave restaurants have stopped making it. Generally it is Dau Miu and shrimp (sometimes other stuff) in a white wrapper and they're wonderful. If you ever see it, I highly recommend it! :)
There's probably one day out of the year I could eat dim sum all day. I'd put ha gow and xiu Mai on the top tiers, along with, egg tart. For me, I like Cheung fun up higher. Strangely as a kid though, daofu fa was a favorite of mine, but no so much as I've gotten much older. I kind of liken it to grass jelly but not as good...some nice rankings here.
Hi, new subscriber here. Brittany, has anyone ever commented that you look like a Chinese Hailee Steinfeld? Your smile makes the resemblance even stronger!! I’m that one person at home who is bummed out that Brittany doesn’t like 豆腐花!! It tastes great when paired with a savoury topping (Chinese preserved vegetables) or a sweet one (brown sugar). I love it to death.
What do you think of foo jook gurn (pork rolled in yuba skin and steamed), the ngull yook Kull (big beef meatballs flavored with tangerine peel) or ji ma gurn (black sesame roll). These are some of my faves! That was a fun video! Phoenix claws are a good source of collagen!!
Fu zuk gyun when I was little would be F, but now is an A! Zi maa gyun is around B or C, depending on my mood. Ngau juk kau (?) if we’re thinking of the same thing would be B for me! Not something I’d get myself but if someone ordered, I’d probably eat it happily
my go to's are ha cheung, lo bak go, tofu skin wraps...have no idea how to phoneticize that lol on a side note i was crushed that you put lo bak go in A should be S!
Lava Custard Bun and Sweet custard bun are two different items. Lava uses salted egg yolk and I have no idea what the sweet custard bun one is made of but it doesn't have salted egg yolk.
NIce video. I agree with your assessment of steamed pork buns; depending on the restaurant, you can get too much bun and very little meat. Speaking of pork buns, my S tier dim sum item would be crispy baked BBQ Pork Buns (酥皮焗叉燒包). The baked bun has a crispy top kinda like a pineapple bun. I was introduced to it at Tim Ho Wan in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong. It is so awesome that THW are now in the US. I tried the THW (Hell's Kitchen in NYC) and it tastes the "same", but I still like the HK version better.
omg u guys dont love shrimp dumplings???? siu mai and shrimp dumplings are s tier. they are always good and i cant let them walk by without getting them.
I would say it also depends on where you go and how they make it. Like egg tart usually is good, but if its poorly made, one might have a different perspective on it. Also is durian puffs considered a dim sum dish?
Damn, 炸兩 (jaa loeng) is my current dim sum obsession. Definitely S tier in my books! Edit: Also just realised how much of the sweet/dessert dim sum items my family never gets. Need to try more next time ;)
Most awesome """clickbait""" you could have possibly used. Seeing a picture of my beloved Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 tagged with the word "overrated" made me so sad and mad and I clicked right away 😂😂😂😛😛😛😡😭😡😭😡😭😅
Bro I love tofu pudding 😭😭 it’s been one of my faves since childhood! But I totally agree with Jared that chicken feet are not worth the effort 😂
Same here! I’m canto too but I don’t ever order chicken feet for myself haha

I've never heard of Dau Miu Gow, but that sounds really good!

I love tofu too but can’t seem to like tofu pudding either !! Loll
Also enjoyed all of Jared’s “s for…” comments XD you two are too cute 💛

:) THANKS for sharing! I HAD to LOL as preferences are so different!
ALL the BEST and Cheers!

I believe it would be!
@@cantobritt Thank you.
Salted egg yolk bun is easily S tier for me!
I LOLd so much watching this!!
I like this self proclaimed gweilo

炸兩 is a good obsession! Also definitely try more of the sweet stuff! Sometimes I'll go from sweet back to salty...😅
Mango pudding a C? C’mon man?!
I feel bad for mango pudding right now.
鳳爪 C tier? Jeez! Justice for phoenix claw!
Team Char siu bao!
Turnip cake is number 1!!
02:32 魷魚鬚
And the expression ”混醬” is not a matter while it's describing 腸粉:-))
omg what tofu pudding is above S!!!! hahaha

I’m hungry.
Great video! But how DARE you put chicken feet so low!!!
I DARED! Honestly, I like it, but maybe if I had a 6th stomach to fit it all in, I'd get it
@@cantobritt If I had 6 stomachs, they'd be full of chicken feet. 🤣
Taro dumping is not 潮洲粉粿 should be 芋角
Dang I don’t agree with this tier list at all haha
i disagree with every single ranking 😂😂😂😂
then how would YOU rank them??
Ham seoi gok is S TIER! You did the hand thumb smack after describing it.
You're right! I guess it should
Super funny video!!
Glad you enjoyed!
