Guqin | Sony a6700 Cinematic | Video Portrait

A Sony a6700 cinematic video portrait about connecting with nature through playing the Guqin. Shot handheld with Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 in SLOG3 in 4K. Inspired by the characteristic hand movements while playing the Guqin (Chinese zither), we tried to make the hands the protagonist of the story. Shot in the dunes and the lake of 'Het Wed'.

Thanks a lot! I use the 'Neutral A7s3-Legacy' Phantom Lut as a preview in-camera to help me expose my shots. I expose by eye, but do try to safe the highlights as much as possible.

I recently bought a6700 with Sigma 18-50 f2.8. This is my first ever camera, and I’m having a hard time understanding how to use autofocus for videos. Which focus mode, focus area, touch tracking, etc do you use? Could you please make a video on how to use the autofocus to make videos like this one? A detailed video on this topic would be really appreciated. I can’t wait to learn these things.

Thanks a lot!
My focus workflow is pretty simple. When I have time to set up the shot and the subject isn't moving too much, I use manual focus (with focus peaking set to 'Mid' and 'Red').
In other circumstances I use Continuous AF with a 'Transition Speed' of 4 and 'Sensitivity' of 3. Focus Area is 'Wide'. And I change the Recognition Target to Human or Animal/Bird depending on what I'm shooting.

Such beautiful shots. Are these handheld or are you using a gimbal? I often find I have some jitter when going handheld with my A6500 that I would love to eleviate.

Thank you! It's 100% handheld with mostly warp stabilizer at 1-10%. And a few shots (walking shots) stabilized with Catalyst browse. In general the IBIS of a6700 is better than the a6500. Especially with non-stabilized lenses. Also the improved rolling shutter helps in that regard.
