The trick to continue to live frugal is NOT to pass up the great buys each week. It won’t work too well when you’ve saved and saved and have empty pantry shelves and freezer and can’t find the items you need to restock at a reasonable price. My mother always shopped this way and we always had plenty to eat. How grateful I am for her!!
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
YES exactly
We oftentimes do not have enough to buy what we need in a deal.
Example
Dog food
One large bag 20+lbs about $20
Have to buy the 5lb tiny bag for $9 😒so frustrating.
So Yes spend on deal's when you can so it doesn't cost you double or more later
Love, love, love this video! Buying little treats like the creamer is what makes life so sweet. Once again, living on a budget isn't about depravity but rather about living life to the fullest. Every cup of tea will be a treat!
Exactly right Susan! Thanks so much!
It’s not cheap having food sensitivities so my splurgy item is definitely my gluten free dairy free frozen pizza, when they put those BOGO I get 4-6 😂 I can’t eat out very often so that’s my little treat ☺️🍕
That's a great splurge!!
With your red onions, put on some glasses (if needed) and chop up a bunch. Freeze them in batches and they're great for adding to sauces, saute, roasted veg, and many other things. Using or freezing them all will be a great frugal triumph. The darker the color in vegetables, the higher the nutrient value. Red are better than yellow, which are better than white. Win, win all around.
Sounds great! Thank you!
Hi Emmy & Paul 👋🏻
You inspired me to make some peanut butter bread. I used a slightly different recipe. it is delicious! So light 🍞
Thank you!!
1 egg
3/4 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup peanut butter
1 Cup whole milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 Cups (all purpose) flour
1 Tbs baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
I used my kitchenaid stand mixer
Greased glass loaf pan
Bake 375°
50 minutes
Thanks for sharing!
Recipe looks very tasty! 😋 Looks like dinner Wednesday! My splurge every week is a large container of light cream. $3.99 worth of PURE BLISS!!! I LOVE coffee. Coffee with light cream!! 🤣
I look forward to your videos. I have been watching for the past 6 months. 2 weeks ago I did a frugal money saver marathon and watched all day, every day for a week. Have seen them all now, and am watching some for a second and third time.
Oh my gosh Laura that is amazing!! Thank you so so much! Very kind!
Loved the box. My splurge items are a book (there are certain categories/authors that they never keep in stock at my local library-even if you asked), or a craft item. After reading the book I pass it on to someone who would enjoy it or donate it to the library. The craft items I make gifts with or items to donate to those in need. It gives me lots of hours of enjoyment for not that much of a cost.
Love that! Great "splurges!"
I love that you include recipes into your videos!
Thank you this is my first time watching and I love it !!! I be watching and sharing with my friends and family.
Thank you so much for being here Janice! Welcome!!
Paul is pretty good at it making things come together !!!
I guess confession is good for the soul. I always look for a good sale on Mr. Goodbars and sometimes I buy one. I also love cheese puffs. I am so pleased that you allow yourselves to have appropriate treats. A Lexus would be "over the top". But, coffee creamer is just fine. The goal of your journey is a great life within your means with careful attention to budget. Blessings to you.
Absolutely we have splurges! Very well said!
Sometimes, in the winter, a local produce market has blackberries for $2/6 oz. That's my splurge!
I’m going through all of your older videos. These are wonderful!
YAY! Love to hear that! Thank you!
@@FrugalMoneySaver I am going through these as well. I’ve been following you for about the last six months. I am enjoying these older videos so much, too! Love reading all the comments. You are so relatable, Emmy. Thanks for all that you and Paul do. You are helping so many people. What a blessing you are. ❤️
I am Muslim, so i do not eat pork. I use turkey sausage and turkey bacon. I moved to Queretaro, Mexico on 11-2-2021. It is $850 dollars less per month moving here, and my beautiful apartment includes all utilities and maid service. I am 79, and the USA got too deadly and expensive for me, so I feel safe here. I have been visiting and coming to Mexico since I was 20 years old, and I do speak Spanish as a second language.
I love your videos. There are not any shortages or limits here.
I donated away my kitchen and bathroom preps, and paid to have my apartment emptied.
Thanks for watching!
Loved the entire video. I love the box. Great DIY. yummy mac & cheese. Splurge item: Twix
Oh Twix are so good Cat!
Y'all are so great about finding economical alternatives and free entertainment options all around. Do you use local libraries? They have books and audiobooks online for free, sometimes free park or museum passes, endless DIY resources, and even loaner tools in some cases. Definitely worth exploring.
Oh yes!! We use our library constantly!
Paul did a great job with the box. The wrapping paper inside was such a nice touch. 👍 Your stovetop macaroni and cheese looks AMAZING! I agree with Paul on the adding the full 8 oz of cheese; it put it over the top! I have made a similar dish on the stovetop, but you swap out pasta for fresh cauliflower florets and it is so good. I am definitely a pasta girl at heart, though! I like to splurge occasionally on a couple Mary Kay beauty products, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, when it goes on sale, or anything chocolate. My husband likes to go to Starbucks every now and then, so I will add it into our budget. You have to allow yourself to have a few small pleasures! Oh, by the way, I didn't end up making the chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day - the strawberries all got eaten 😂 but I can do them another time.
LOL Amy!! You re correct! Little splurges should be a part of life!
Can’t wait to make the Mac and cheese. My granddaughter loves Mac and cheese. Love one pan dishes. The two wall decor frames made a perfect box. Way to go Paul. Hope you have a blessed Valentine’s Day.
You have a blessed Valentine's as well!
Add Rotel tomatoes to mac & cheese.
That is such a pretty blouse, it looks great on you. I love it. I am really into coupon shopping at CVS. So I think I do really well at it. I supply my home and the homes of my 3 daughters with toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razors, laundry supplies and a few food items. I also resale my extras so at times I come out at 0 expense.
Love that!! CVS really has some great deals with their ECB etc.
The valentine box that Paul made was awesome and special, one of a kind! When I need to knit presents, I buy yarn that’s on sale beforehand. If I have extra yarn left, I keep it till another occasion arise that I could use the extra yarn to knit/crochet something appropriate for the next person. I went out to price baby outfits, and it is way too expensive and don’t even have the wow factor! It is a win-win purchase for me because knitting is so meditative and helps me to de-stress, too.
20k will be achieved right around the corner, get your party stuff ready Emmy! ❤️❤️
So kind of you to say May! Thanks so much!!
I got the snow's minced clams at Walmart on line for $1.99 a can so I bought 10 to stock up because I use a couple cans with a can of Pastene tomatoes and it makes an incredible and easy clam sauce (clam gravy) for macaroni.
Love clam sauce over pasta!!
Flour stays fresh for long time in the freezer . You really should put in container if on shelf .
Be prepared, the red onions are a very mild flavor. Take that into consideration when using them.
I don't eat hot dogs very often, either. Nathan's is one that tastes good and I will grab it if it's a good price. That was a good price you guys got.
We have also had a hard time finding saltines. The housemate finally found the Food Lion brand and it was a good price at .99 a box. (Not quite as good as Aldi, but that's okay.) And they taste fine.
I got some really good deals at Aldi this week. I got their Guacamole for $1.49. It's normally over $4. Just in time for the Super Bowl! I got a couple tubs of their Irish spreadable butter for $1.49 also. I still have a couple of tubs in the freezer from the last time it was that low. I got baby carrots for .95. I normally buy regular carrots but they didn't have any and just happened to have the baby ones on sale. I got strawberries for .99 a pint! And finally, they had these Ambrosia variety apples on sale for .99 lb. It was on my list anyway. So I grabbed them!
At Walmart I also got a Red Baron pizza for free. Actually I made a little money on the Ibotta app. They offered $4.49 back and I got it for $4.32. We're set for Super bowl Sunday.
That mac and cheese looks great! My husband would love that! Your whole meal looks great!
I love the box! Such a good idea!
Happy Super Bowl and Valentines Day to everyone!
You got some really great prices! Very good shopping!!
I have that same exact kitchen scale. It also comes in handy for weighing letters/packages to determine proper postage.
Yes! It's a great little scale!
Love your videos! Excellent! Thank you!❤
Thanks so much!
😃👍, white asperges🥳 have a short season, when the spring weather has been good for a week or more there's plenty to harvest, prices drop sometimes 75% off of regular prices. I than will buy and freeze for every now and than.
Thanks for the tips!
Emmy, there is no such thing as too much cheese!😊
LOL!! I realize that now!
Hey Emmy and Paul, I really enjoyed watching this vid, you both always make me smile 😊 I love the box that Paul made and I've noted down the Mac & cheese recipe to try 😋 I had to smile when I saw all the Tetley tea as I was drinking a big mug of it as I was watching, it's good to see that it's not just us British that appreciate a nice cuppa 😉
Oh no you are not alone! I love, adore, and cherish my tea!!!
Idea.save the bottom of celery, lettuce, etc.save seeds.grow your own produce.then you know it's organic.
You get your wish - it WAS helpful and encouraging - your videos ALWAYS are!! And how could a person NOT smile while watching your joyful face and bubbly personality! You are one of my FAVORITE youtubers - forget 20,000 - you'll soon be at 100,000!
Oh that would be amazing...I can't even imagine it! Thank you so much though! That means a lot!
The box Paul made was lovely
So kind of you to say! Thank you!
Your do the 20 000 very soon great channel .love watching your channel .hope you both well.the littlebox is lovely .x
Thanks Marie! We are over 21,000 now! YAY!
Your box is a great idea for a place to put all the tv controls!
Perfect suggestion!
The box turned out great. Holds the the little books perfectly
Wasn't it cute!
You two just inspire me to use what I have and to be a better person! You are just precious Emmy!❤️
Neta you are so kind!! Thank you!!
Congratulations on 19K+ Subscribers!!! 🎉👏🎉
Thank you!! 😁
Emmy. I have heard that when chopping onions put a wet paper towel right near where you are chopping and the fumes from the onions are atracted to the wet towel. They said that is why your eyes water because of the moisture in the eyes. Worth a try. Love the little box to hold the magazines. It will look so cute at The Little House. My husband is not a fan of the boxed mac and cheese. Going to try your receipe, it looks yummy.
Thanks so much Allison for tip!!
A bag of frozen onions rings for the airfryer is a slurge but doesn’t happen very often. If they are on sale I can’t resist.
Oh yummy treat for sure!
My family LOVES homemade Mac & cheese. I use whatever cheese I have on hand. Sour cream makes it even better. Great job. You guys are great. One pot meals are life saver some times. Try sausage pasta.
Sounds great with the sour cream!
It looks delicious!
Thanks so much!
For your DIY box you could drill holes on each side and use a rope to make a handle so it becomes like a mini suitcase 🧳. For easy transport. Loved the picture box! 💖
Love the box.
Thanks so much Jaimmie!
Love watching Paul's projects! Thank you.
Glad you like them! Thank you!
My "spurge" buy is in December when Aldi has Creme Brulee ground coffee. I so love it! It isn't real expensive but still not something I would buy often. I got some for Christmas this year. I also found Creme Brulee creamer on sale so I am in coffee heaven. The mac and cheese looks sooooooo good!!! I eat my mac/cheese as a main dish with lemon steamed braccoli...yummy!
Oh Lemon broccoli would of been awesome with it!
The pasta you chose for your Mac n cheese will really hold the cheese sauce.
I am stocking up on food N can’t wait for the real spring comes so I can plant my garden !!!
Us too Nici!
Way to go Paul!!! Thanks for the mac & cheese meal. My kids eat it all the time. I'm gonna make it for sure.
So good!
My splurge item in this week was a big bag of wine gums as a "nerve food". This week my lovely step father was in the hospital with suspected stroke, my daughter has broke her hand and my nephew has a torn ligament. It is crazy. Today my step father came home and he feels well (thanks GOD) and I really needed sugar for my nerves. So, while I watched this video I ate half of the bag of wine gums. 😅. Sometimes you need maccaroni cheese or wine gums. It is soulfood. Your box is so cute, I love it! Please stay well, my dear friends and I see you next week.❤
I am so sorry you had such a hard week!! Hope everyone is feeling better and healing!! I just Googled Wine Gums! They look so yummy! I had never heard of them! Sabrina you stay well too my friend!!
Another great video . Bless you an Paul
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much Steve!
When it’s on sale I’m always stocking up as best I can!
Wow! That mac and cheese looks terrific! Paul’s box he made was so cool!!! What a fantastic idea! Yay to your son for thinking of it. Prices at the store are getting even higher. I was shocked at the price of my laundry detergent. It had increased a lot! I’m very brand specific on it because I need to do dye free/fragrance free and some I have tried don’t work well. Yikes! I’m really trying to shop the sales though to keep costs down. It’s insanity. A splurge item I usually get on sale…hmm…I guess every so often I will buy Haagen Dazs (sp?) ice cream if it is on sale.
Gretchen we are seeing the prices soar too! Let's hope it improves soon!
Congratulations on your growing channel.
You and Paul are so relatable.
Thanks so much Rhonda!
Another great video. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching Marilyn!
I loved the box. I also got the 99 cent Chobani creamer this week. It was the last one that the store had. I shop after work, and sometimes need to get a rain check since the store ran out of the item.
So smart to get the rain checks though!
I want to try thy creamer! You got some great buys! Love the DIY project, so unique. ❤️
Thanks so much Lisa! The creamer is so yummy! Definitely taste the coconut!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Absolutely loved the box that Paul made ... very talented. Hope you both have a wonderful Valentine's Day. God Bless.
You as well Karen! Thank you!
Awesome video ! Love 💕 Paul’s repurposed box
Thanks so much Linda!
Will have to make that mac & cheese !!!!! Paul knocked it out of the park with the keepsake box.
Thanks so much Kim!
Can't wait try the mac and cheese! I love your recipes!!
Thanks so much Glenna!
Any kind of chocolate is a treat for me. Can't wait for Valentine's candy to go on clearance!
LOL! So yummy Jessi!
Love the box paul made and such a simple idea but effective.
Thanks so much!
My splurge item is Pepsi. I allow myself one can per day. This week Fareway's ad had buy three (12 can cartons) get three free so I bought six cartons which equals 72 days of my splurge item. Due to leaking cans in three cartons, Pepsi recently sent me 3 coupons for free cartons, so I have six free cartons of my splurge in the last two months.
WOOHOO! Good for you contacting the company!
That creamer sounds amazingly delish
So good!
Hi Emmy, I made the potatoes with the Italian sausage my husband love it. Thank you for sharing the recipe

Great job Paul! Love the box! What a nice Valentine's gift. My splurge item is cut flowers...if they have any cut flowers on sale I always buy them because it brightens my day.
Yes they do!
Would love to have the recipe got zuppa toscano! Great job Paul! Loved it!!
I can definitely film it!
I love the sticky fingers
We really do too!

Happy Valentine's Day to you too Cindy!
You are such a great couple. You really compliment each other. Thanks for sharing your home and lives with us. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
Thanks so much Debi!!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Enjoyed the video. I like to splurge on the scented hand sanitizer from bath and body when they are one dollar. Take care and Happy Valentines day.
Love Bath and Body Works stuff lol!
Clever DIY!
Thanks so much!
Fantastic video!! If Haagen-Dazs ice cream goes on sale I buy it! Happy Valentines Day! ❤️🌸
Thank you! You too Amanda!
That box ❤❤ mac & cheese 😲 making it yes I am 😋
I'm not passing up any deals high as prices are.
Super great video
Thank y'all
So smart Catina!
I make a pasta cheese like this except I do boil the pasta drain it in the same pot I put the milk bring to almost a boil add the butter and cook pasta and add the cheese it's so creamy yummy.
Sounds yummy!
🍫 CHOCOLATE after 💝 Valentines Day clearance. YUM
Yum!
Hey Emmy, I don't get those booklets! Have to find out how to get them. My Granddaughter loves mac and cheese, so have to try the recipe. I agree, smaller pasta would be easier. I did notice that the box of Tennis Rackets did say 9 min for al dente, which is exactly how long you said it took. Love the box DIY (I love boxes) - good job Paul. My splurge would be creamers, but only Pumpkin and Mint, which are seasonal, so not bad. I don't use them other times of the year.
Geri those books are everywhere! In the racks in front of restaurants, food stores, convenience stores etc.! We keep one from every year for years now just to see how much has changed since my folks bought the house in the early 1980's!
As always, great video. Mac & cheese looked yummy. The box is very pretty. Paul did a great job. I splurge on Klondike ice cream heath bars. They just need that "sale" sign on the shelf 😁
Love that Gail lol!!
Why do I like looking in other people’s fridges and freezers? I don’t know but I do lol.
LOL! That's okay, it's fun!
Emmy, I'm not sure if you already know but when chopping onions, BEFORE YOU START - put a stainless steel teaspoon in your mouth and breathe through your nose! It REALLY does help and apart from the sharpest of sharp onions, I don't cry at all! I detest onions but my Husband loves them so we grow and buy onions that need processing for the freezer! I never look forward to it but the spoon trick makes a world of difference! Once you're done chopping, wash your hands holding the same teaspoon or rub it all over your hands. Stainless steel kills stubborn odors and you won't smell like onions if you try it! It just takes the smell away completely! Loving your videos as usual
Ok I will try this if the red onions make me tear!! Thanks so very much! God Bless you and yours!
Hey Paul, love the box! That was really nice wrapping paper with the scripture verse on it that you were able to use inside the box!!
Wasn't that special! Thanks Cathy!
Love my Friday FMS video! I bet that pasta was great for Mac&cheese as there were lots of holes for the cheese sauce to get into! The box turned out beautiful! It will look beautiful in your beach house! I did splurge on a sale pkg of 12 mini Valentine cupcakes for $2. Just enough for a treat. Otherwise, I watch sales for kcups (most of my shopping is done online since I am disabled and don't drive). In 2020, I found so many great sales for coffee at the holidays. This past year, nothing!
Oh those cupcakes sound perfect! Thanks so much for the kind words Rosemary! Give those fur babies some Valentines love from me!
