I've never ever seen it in a layered format so don't be disappointed if it doesn't look as expected. The drawings of you both are great. Joerg slays me every time 😂

That was such a fun video. To be honest, I don’t always make it through your travel videos, but I watch your home videos to the very end. I like the variety of all of your videos, but the home videos are my favorite. Thank you, Joerg, for making us laugh with the wibble wobble! 😂
Same here. My favourites are their Christmas videos, their home always looks lovely and festive and gets me in the Christmas mood. The baking videos they do are a treat.
I adore trifle and mums always make the best! A thick layer of sherry saturated sponge (at least 1/4 bottle! 😂) with jam, fruit, homemade custard and whipped double cream sprinkled with toasted almonds. My mum usually makes a port jelly to have with it (we don’t like it in the trifle itself). It will forever be Christmas Day supper and Boxing Day breakfast to me.

My mother had a thing for trifle. We usually had one at Christmas and I still have the large dish she used. She was a German who also loved the UK. (Her two younger sisters ended up marrying British men.) So... hurray for trifle!
Always look forward to your vlogs. Now a trifle to try. Love the Kirk Stacey print. He captured you so well. Sandwiches, tea, travels and even the camera.

Hello ,Kirsten and Joerg ! .That English trifle looks yummy ! .Nice idea for Christmas ! . I can't wait to see the new kitchen !!! .Love the white and blue tile .The cartoon portrait is so pretty ! .Thank you so much ,love your videos
Have to add, I’m American, have made trifle often for Christmas, used pound cake cut into squares with coating on top side of raspberry jam, soak 1/2 hr. sherry, then sprinkle a layer slivered almonds, sprinkle layer of raspberries and layer of custard, and lastly whipped cream. Pretty much the same. How fun watching you both so bravely trying the other samplings. I lived in Belgium in an International community and have experienced many of the same. Lots of English friends.
It looks delicious despite the warm weather. Love the cartoon drawing of you two. 😊 Also, can't wait for you to share your new kitchen with us when it is all ready.
How fun to make the Trifle with your husband!! My friend and I occasionally made Trifles for our Bible study. We used Angel food cake, so it was lighter. I think we had a few layers of the cake. It was very similar to your desert. So tasty. Oh, we had a Trifle bowl, too. 🎉
That was wonderful, especially Joerg’s wobble. He’s terrific. I just can’t wait to see your new kitchen. What an adventure. That trifle looks delicious.
Well done, a lovely looking trifle. This takes me back to me helping my Great Aunt Jean making the New Years Day trifle 😊 It contained tinned fruit and lady fingers and a lot of sherry 😂 The custard would never set and the fresh cream would deflate 😮😂 It was covered in 'hundreds and thousands' coloured sugar strands, and was eaten by everyone. Beautiful tiles, would be lovely in your new kitchen. The cartoon and painting are very sweet, a precious memory captured. Xx

Lovely. Normally we break the cake up into pieces to fit the bottom and we drown the cake in cherry 😂. My mum used Victoria sponge cake. The cherry is what makes it! Definately better the next day.. jelly should be hard and cream stiff... Definately not hot weather desert. My mum always did individual ones in desert dishes in summer to go with Afternoon tea, but a big bowl at Christmas. Beautiful picture and exciting times ahead with the new kitchen.

I first tasted trifle at a friend's house in Scotland and fell in love. My cousin was there and she was so funny, she whispered to me of the hostess "she uses a MIX." I've figured out how to make a quick trifle with all the fixings and have made it for many picnics and holidays. I first make a round 8" layer of yellow cake (freezing the second layer for the next trifle), push it down into the trifle bowl, then douse it with sherry and let it sit in the fridge for as long as possible. spread the top with currant jam, put some frozen mixed berries over that, make custard pudding either from scratch or a mix (Bird's if I can get it) and pour the hot pudding on, thawing the fruit. :Last layer is real whipped cream with a bit of sugar. Oh no, I've given my secret recipe to the world wide web! I will be decorating mine as you did from now on.
Sounds great! Another quick way that I do is buy a jam roll sponge, cut it into slices and lay on the bottom and sides of a glass bowl(crystal looks really pretty). Then add fruit(I use tinned as the juice is good to soak into the sponge. Then custard and cream on the very top.Hello from New Zealand.
Yes, douse it with sherry, plenty of sherry. Then over the cake spoon some canned peaches in their juice mixed with the raspberries. A trifle should never be dry. Whipped cream topped with toasted almond slivers.
@MsMesem It wasn’t dry whatsoever. I’m afraid but I don’t like the taste of alcohol and have never liked it (especially mentioned in several videos and in the info box).
Trifles were an integral, and delicious , part of my childhood. I would suggest more sherry (poured not brushed!), and, for extra flavour, spread jam over the sponge cake. I used to make mine with raspberries, or tinned mandarin oranges or, best of all, tinned black cherries, though the matching jelly could be hard to find. I used to sneak a spoonful for breakfast - no better way to start the day!

@@KirstenJoerg Aww thank you :) that's so kind of you to reply :) My Mum used to make my absolute favourite treat called date slice. Soft, sweet, squishy dates sandwiched between sweet, buttery oats. Other than her homemade all-butter shortbread, apple or Rhubarb & banana crumble served with evaporated milk & not forgetting the rice pudding! :) too many scrumptious treats :) 🌸 😊 🎉 Apparently the date slice is back in fashion! I very well remember my first trifle (from a supermarket, of course) and I was over the moon! Loved it very much . . . until I had Eaton Mess!!! Since you showed us how to make the trifle, I'll give it a try soon. Thank you for your inspiring ideas !
So excited for the new kitchen. Lovely trifle. If you dont feel like baking the cake you could use a jam Swiss roll or a Madeira cake bought from the shop. I use brandy instead of sherry which is also nice. You said you wanted more firm layers the way to achieve that is you make the jelly thicker by using more jelly crystals than stated on packet. Leave it to set for longer than the hour, also make the custard thicker too that gives you firmer layers.
Thank you so much! We always try to make as much as possible ourselves and the pound cake is so incredibly easy to prepare. The jelly was thick actually )we just showed it when we made it so it was firm, it was the whipping cream that was too soft because of the heat.
Hi Kirsten and Joerg. The trifle looked delicious. I love how you make cooking look so easy and relaxing. My kitchen always looks like a disaster when I bake no matter how hard I try to keep it neat. Yes Joerg, you can Wibble… or Wabble.. I think you can do both.. Love your choices of kitchen tiles.. Trifle can be a sloppy pudding! This made me feel a little nostalgic - my mother used to make a trifle in the summer on a Sunday and it was so yummy....ah I miss those days. Well done :)

I love trifle, well done! So looking forward to seeing you4 new kitchen. Your choices are always beautiful !
Thank you so much!
Brilliant guys you've made me hungry wonderful video as always from my favourite couple thank you 😊 xx 💜 😘
I thank you for your videos. I enjoy them so very much. Have a lovely weekend and l look forward to more.
I very well remember my first trifle (from a supermarket, of course) and I was over the moon! Loved it very much . . . until I had Eaton Mess!!! Since you showed us how to make the trifle, I'll give it a try soon.
Thank you for your inspiring ideas !
Thanks so much! I definitely like Eton Mess better!
ALWAYS LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I love making trifle too!
Thanks so much!
Ihr seid so zuckersüß zusammen. 🤗
Es ist eine Freude, euch zu zusehen. 😊
Dankeschön 😊
Hi Kirsten and Joerg. The trifle looked delicious. I love how you make cooking look so easy and relaxing. My kitchen always looks like a disaster when I bake no matter how hard I try to keep it neat. Yes Joerg, you can Wibble… or Wabble.. I think you can do both.. Love your choices of kitchen tiles.. Blue and white is a fave of mine so love the Delf ones especially, but the others are really pretty too.. I know you will pick out beautiful things for your kitchen. I also love how patient you both are and how you take your time making decisions! Things turn out better that way! Thank you for the fun video.. Have a great week ❤️Beverlee
Aww thanks so much Beverlee! Lol this is why we have the utility room, we can hide the disaster there and close the door :)
I adore when you cook! Please make more of cooking videos! ❤
Trifle can be a sloppy pudding! This made me feel a little nostalgic - my mother used to make a trifle in the summer on a Sunday and it was so yummy....ah I miss those days. Well done :)
Aww thank you so much Dawn!
Oh thank God, your kitchen is the same! I love it as it is
Thanks but it is necessary to change it otherwise we would not do it! We have been living here for 5 years and the kitchen nearly falls apart. It’s very old and has been here for ages.
@@KirstenJoerg 🥰💞 my kitchen/cupboards, are circa 1925. The countertop is 1960’s laminate. The white appliances were updated in the 1990’s and still work. American bungalow style home. I paint walls, change up curtains, and try to keep everything running.
Whatever tile you choose will be perfect! You always do a super nice job decorating your home🏠🌳
You're the best!
What a lovely trifle recipe. Good news of your kitchen project. More adventures in the kitchen ahead. Great picture😊😊😊
Thanks so much!🙏❤️
Yum! Just so it tastes good. It still looks really good. What a wonderful picture. He's very talented. I love the Pink Cottage. I can remember that was the first one of your videos that I watched. I was hooked. Tiles: The Cornish Delft is beautiful. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Yes PLEASE! Love it!! 😋😋😋Greetings from Michigan. P.S. - My daughter loved her trip to Germany (and Austria)!
Thanks so much! Oh that's so wonderful to hear.
I just discovered your channel a few days ago and absolutely love it. I'm sad that you're changing your kitchen though because I really love it. Love those gorgeous green cabinets and the earth coloured tiles.
Thanks so much! Our kitchen sadly is about to fall apart - we love it too but we need to make the changes.
Loved the caricature! So fun! Joerg needed a sausage roll! Thank you for making the trifle and showing us the tiles!

Your trifle looks very high class.
You are too kind!
Hi kirsten & Joerg! Oooh 😋 trifle! Yummy!
My Mum used to make the best trifle with the addition of sherry too & it was truly scrumptious! 🎉
