There I was in a ritzy nightclub in Beijing. Knowing better, I traveled with two CS darts taped to my ankles. Having been drugged by two escorts, I began to be harassed by two members of the local Chinese Triad. After refusing to pay my exorbitant bill, I found myself in a deadly street fight in the alley. I swiftly pulled my two darts, landing blow after blow. Luckily, I had my grappling hook and climbed out of the alley unscaved. Thank you Cold Steel for another awesome product!
hey bro I was the shorter Triad thug!! I tried to shoot at you with a rusty tokarev but you threw one of the delta darts down the barrel and the pistol exploded in my hand! I had to get 2 fingers sewn back on ya jerk...
I was there in Beijing, you shit your pants and because it dripped down your pants you couldn't manage to grab the darts at your ankle, you accidentally cut yourself and we had to bring you to the hospital, the next day you came to pay the money you owed and you cried like a baby.
I've owned 2 of these knives: sai pan and tanto and was shocked at how great they are for only $15 knives. I've read the other comments and let me try to help. They are ment for 2 purposes: 1.. No metal detectors can read them (for that reason, carrying one is illegal in some cities) and #2 they are very very light and great for personal protection at home. When it comes to needed a knife that you hope you'll never need to use: this couldn't be better .. Lighter knife means less fatigue for your arm in a fight; its strong enough to last when you need it most and it's super sharp. This wouldn't be used as a utility, hunting, or camping knife but would be great under your pillow or in your glove box. Only flaw .. Blade is exposed as nothing is sold to cover it.. Probably why it's only $15.
they are the most affordable, reliable and easy to carry or hide for someone who don't intend to use them other than in a emergency. they are last ditch solution plus they make really awesome letter opener.
Dear ***** i have been a fan-addict (fanatic) since late 2013. Your amazing proof videos are what first attracted me to your company and shortly after i purchased my first product (5.5 vaquero plain edge) And $800+ later i still cant get enough and doubt i ever will, i have completely abandoned all other companies since and have been solely carrying CS, my only regret is not discovering mr thompsons company earlier, im very excited about 2015s line up but it would be amazing if you guys would produce the delta and jungle darts and the battle ring in a steel version even if it was only 4116 krupp i have no doubt in my mind they would sell, if you could simply mention this to mr thompson i would be eternally grateful (because the knife would probably last for an eternity haha) Thank you mr camera man and to every employee at every cold steel factory. Best wishes from another satisfied consumer
I can't stop watching these cold steel videos, and they got so many crazy weapons, The mixture of that and the mustache's and suits and combined with some badass synthesized metal brings me into a mysterious realm everytime I watch.....
*_When the Cardboard-Uprising occurred in 2070, Humanity had no chance. A war followed which exterminated over 80% of Earth's population - and the Cardboard began to infiltrate every last Human bastion that existed. At last the war between Man and his greatest foe, Cardboard, had come to a head - then came the Grivory™-Warriors - men whose skill with a plastic blade was matched only by the size of their gut. It was then that the tide of the war against the Cardboard had finally shifted. And thus ended the Dark Times - and Humanity stepped into the age of a new Dawn... a Grivory™-Dawn._*
The plastic blade alone won't do it, even against appliance cardboard. You need to be a massive meat head too, that way you have the half a ton of force behind you to take out that cardboard...
I recently bought the heavy duty sword cane and I have to say it already payed for its self and saved my life. I would to all recommend this piece of art as it cost a little but can seriosly help. Thanks cold steel keep doing what your doing becouse with your knives my life is never at risk.
Bought a few of these years ago from Cold Steel, some for the Car & others for around the house in case the SHTF, Should happen, Great as a carry sauce also, they will go through just about anything, within reason Great product from CS.
The Delta Dart is a (plastic) replica of the SOE-issued wrist dagger of WWII. It was used by British agents operating in occupied France. Something up your sleeve, as it were. If those agents were operating today, they'd find this version very handy.
I have two of these and love them. One of them I keep in my hot tub because that was a place where you might catch me unarmed. And the heat and water have no effect on the knife even with having been kept under water now for 8 months.
Have the delta dark. I buried it in some pop cans, milk jugs, plywood. The sharpness of the tip when I bought it pierced right through my jeans on my right leg pretty easily. After stabbing it in a can more than 3 times the edge pretty much chipped off. The cool thing about the dart is you can sharpen it with a knife as you would a stick. The knife slices through that plastic like butter but cut straight through those cans. Interesting...
i normally think that those are pointless, but working in radiology, especially at an mri, these are really useful, since i have to take of everything metallic. so for just in case scenarios, those are mri safe and will do just fine. in case.
Wow ! When I first saw them I thought they were just trainers, but now I understand they're really usable. Going to do shopping next week-end :) (love the skean-dou)
I seriously can't help chuckling a little at the juxtaposition of the badass music and the mundane sounds of opening a few envelopes and small packages.
@thegoldenarmy0495 They are injected molded fiberglass reinforced plastic, so they are cheap, yet strong and lightweight... You only will need to use a self defense knife once in most cases, so these are perfect for those people on a budget.
the one things that worried and interested me. the last tai pan demo where he does a hammer fist into ply wood, you see the pointed pommel as he focuses his strike, when they show the bottom it has been flattened, im wondering if the grivory would deform under extreme pressure such as that. i would be carying one of these as a non leathal weapon source, and dont want to risk that happening to mine...
@comingviking If i remember correctly they are made with a small metal cylinder in the handle area to keep them from being illegal and brought into airports and courthouses and the like.
That the knives can pierce is cool and all, but besides for letter opening, realistically what can you expect to be able to do slashing wise with, say, the Tai Pan?
Hey Cold Steel, I really wanna love this series but it's hard when I don't know what it's material is capable of. You guys have a history of cutting your videos just short of destroying your products... Understandable for steel; We all know the limits of steel and don't expect anything unreasonable from your products. But I can't find anything pointing at just what these knives are capable of. I think it would behoove you guys to show, on camera, what will and won't break a Grivory knife.
@karkkosvolfe so it just happens to be that whenever i go into an airport i cant pass through until i've removed everything metal from my body? those gates you walk through to get to the terminals, yeah those are metal detectors. they may not be the wavy things that you use on beaches but when did i say they were?
@Mistarfrio I have tested these a bit. They are not as sharp as steel I am afraid, but stronger then I expected. You can stab though thin steel with these. I have, with out to much trouble, been able to stap though soap cans with these. I do have to note that after a few cans, they do show a lot of scrapping, but it is a major abuse of the knives. They are not as good at utility tasks since they will not last as long on hard cutting, but they make great ultra light weapons, and low cost.
Hi, I have a question: I am a security guard. I want a very small knife (maybe 4 inches overall length) that is undetectable by metal detectors (even concealed somehow if possible). Preferably with some case I can pull it out from fast or having a clip. 1) What do you suggest? 2) Are the cases of undetectable knives also undetectable (logically yes I say, otherwise what the point right?) or is it possible that a manufacturer overlooks this (sounds stupid, but you never know)? Thank you for your time.
outofthebox7 these are 100% undetectable no metal parts other than a removable “key ring” you can take off. I carry the delta dart when I go To concerts or other places that prohibit knives. They don’t come with sheaths but you can order a sheath separately For just a few bucks. They are outstanding especially for the price
not only that but I notice after rewatching the video that pretty much stab and slice if from a position of power-meaning its the best base senario for you-stabbing straight down when most likely you will be facing a standing and moving opponent (unless you knock them out first then stab them...which is murder.) so you are looking at forward jabs and side to side swipes. But they are last ditch effort knives, so if you get disarmed the first time maybe you will have better luck the 2nd time.
Are the blade and handle made of the same material, is it all one solid peice? and how well does the blade keep an edge? I'm assuming the tanto comes very sharp from what I've seen, I'm simply curious to how long it stays that way. I have no experiance with plastic or ceramic blades but I like the looks of this series and I own several cold steel knifes so I like em. I want the tanto, anyone know of any good sheaths for it? I'd hate to carry it around in my pocket.
Christian Michaels Absolutely. Small and very easy to hide, lightweight and sharp. However check your states legality before ordering because it is a triangle shaped weapon technically classifying it as a stiletto.
I'm definitely getting the karambit just for that purpose. The only problem is opening the box to get to the box opener... Nah, but I'm still gonna buy it.
id much rather see them testing the sharpness of the blade, stabbing cardboard doesnt really prove anything... i could stab through cardboard with a screw driver, does that make it sharp?
That's not the point of these knives. They aren't meant to be sharp, they are last ditch defense knives. Screwdrivers aren't sharp, but wouldn't you rather have a screwdriver to defend yourself with than nothing?
@RoHbotic its not about how i use it or whatever, the problem is their test: its not hard to cut or penetrate hard targets. To prove if a knife is worth its money it should be testet against soft and unstable targets.
i seriously thought this was going to be a line of sunglasses that "make you look like a total badass while cutting ropes, cardboard, and big chunks of meat"
@Bubbelmax Wow, it's a good thing you understand the intended purpose of these knives. Cardboard is tougher than flesh, hence why they demo w/ cardboard. But yesh, I suppose they won't help you if attacked by Treebeard in Fangorn. =p

I got the FGX Battle Ring(and will probably get the jungle dart later), which is pretty cool, but I sure wish you guys would bring back the steel version of that one. Any word on if it will ever be brought back?
@kingmigget Oh, yeah I've heard of that system. I think most airports still use the metal detector type though, since I travel alot and I've never came across those before. But, yeah, you wouldn't be able to bring it through the 3D picture type, it's too difficult.
I got the karambit, and I the blade is also grivory. Which confuses me, what's the point of the knife if it has a plastic blade? I'm not really complaining, i didn't pay a whole lot for it, and its still pretty cool, but I don't understand its purpose. The point is wicked though
Ahh well, thanks man. As for the forums I'll check them out, but I'm extremely, extremely wary about buying used blades(and guns) so it's definitely something I'd approach with caution.
I may reconsider. But i have read a lot of negative reviews on places like amazon and other sites. I bought a steel Gerber instead which is fairly light but I haven't been carrying it. But a few weeks ago a dog nearly attacked me (so much for leash laws-and I won't feel bad about leaving fluffy dead in the road with my hands or a knife if it lunges at me).
+kiba BG These types of knives are specifically meant for taking places that are otherwise considered restricted access. Airports, pretty much anywhere where you go through a metal detector. You can carry guns in airports, but not past a certain point. Is the place you go camping restricted access? No? So then why THE FUCK would you want a plastic knife for camping?
YES! finaly i can oppen my mail!!!! THANK YOU COLD STEEL!!!!!! no but really they dont seem to be showing off the sharpness as much as there steel knives are these not as sharp as the steel ones?

At least I know these would be useful in the cardboard uprising.

I can't stop watching these cold steel videos, and they got so many crazy weapons, The mixture of that and the mustache's and suits and combined with some badass synthesized metal brings me into a mysterious realm everytime I watch.....

Or they could use flamethrowers. And I don't see any reasons why a regular steel knife can't do the job.

Hot, hilarious, and like's knives......u Girl, have it ALL!

This video could have been 4 minutes shorter if they didn't show him peeling off individual pieces of cardboard...
They are not for cutting. You can put a little sharp-ish edge on them with just another knife.
Bought a few of these years ago from Cold Steel, some for the Car & others for around the house in case the SHTF, Should happen, Great as a carry sauce also, they will go through just about anything, within reason Great product from CS.

These are great to have stashed all around the place. Just did a video on my Delta Dart.
How do you sharpen these things? With a regular whetstone?
You basically can't. But they are like 10 bucks so if it got to an unusably dull state I would toss it and just buy a new one.
These knives aren't meant for regular use.
As much as I like Cold Steel, I can't help but laugh when they check their mail with these knives with heavy metal music playing in the background.
And remember kids, never attempt to mug Cold Steel employees. You will end up meeting the coroner.
I have two of these and love them. One of them I keep in my hot tub because that was a place where you might catch me unarmed. And the heat and water have no effect on the knife even with having been kept under water now for 8 months.

I never leave home without being armed. And among the weapons I carry, a Delta Dart is ALWAYS among them.
The Delta Dart is a fancy prison shank.
Kevin C I made my own delta dart at home this morning, I rubbed my toothbrush handle across the cement pavement until I got the perfect shape lol
Same here. Very underestimated weapon. Show stopper for sure.
the one things that worried and interested me.

no, they have a small metal ring attached to lanyard hole. The ring is removable.
I'm I interested in the Karambit bit needed to know if the edge is sharpened
the edge is sharp but it doesn't come with a sheath
@Bubbelmax I think selecting the materials based on what you will be using it for is rather important.
That the knives can pierce is cool and all, but besides for letter opening, realistically what can you expect to be able to do slashing wise with, say, the Tai Pan?
Hey Cold Steel, I really wanna love this series but it's hard when I don't know what it's material is capable of. @Bubbelmax These are for self-defense, not for throwing practice. Use a blunt, sturdy knife for knife throwing.
Just got the 4in Ti-light and love it but was wondering in the catalog it says aus8 a Japanese steel but the blade says Taiwan?
@awesomeloftus they are not serated so its showing how its sharp and they are only like $15 but you can buy them for like $9 at other websites

For just a few bucks. They are outstanding especially for the price
I'm sorry but what the hell was the point of the karambit opening the package test? Is it really difficult for a knife to open a package?
plastic knife.
not only that but I notice after rewatching the video that pretty much stab and slice if from a position of power-meaning its the best base senario for you-stabbing straight down when most likely you will be facing a standing and moving opponent (unless you knock them out first then stab them...which is murder.) so you are looking at forward jabs and side to side swipes. Just got mine in the mail. Delta Dart is amazing.
Is it worth the mony?
Sorry money
Christian Michaels Absolutely. Small and very easy to hide, lightweight and sharp. However check your states legality before ordering because it is a triangle shaped weapon technically classifying it as a stiletto.
huh, ive always liked it too, does it come with a sheath?
I'm definitely getting the karambit just for that purpose. The only problem is opening the box to get to the box opener... Nah, but I'm still gonna buy it.
@Bubbelmax I'm pretty sure they are being marketed for self defense against soft squishy people and clothing. Not trees.
@Bubbelmax The Jungle dart is not desind to go into a tree, it is desind to go through skin.
so do these knifes do anything other than stab? do they even have a sharp edge?
id much rather see them testing the sharpness of the blade, stabbing cardboard doesnt really prove anything... i could stab through cardboard with a screw driver, does that make it sharp?
*****
That's not the point of these knives. They aren't meant to be sharp, they are last ditch defense knives. Screwdrivers aren't sharp, but wouldn't you rather have a screwdriver to defend yourself with than nothing?
Alright fair enough but I would still like to see more cutting done with the blade to see how sharp it is in that respect
Awesome :)
my god haha
Is the grip material suitable for wet/muddy/slippery environments or should I get one with a thumb hole to avoid cutting my hand in half?
So is there any metal at all in these knives? That karambit is dope!!
Can these be sharpened? They sound very good. How similar does Grivory feel compared to steel? It doesn't FEEL like plastic, I hope..
@RoHbotic its not about how i use it or whatever, the problem is their test: its not hard to cut or penetrate hard targets. To prove if a knife is worth its money it should be testet against soft and unstable targets.
@Bubbelmax just wondering, wouldn't a delta dart work better for throwing?
do they come with sheaths and if so what are they like
A fiberglass plastic push blade would be a no for me. Just the thought it shatters in my hands creeps me out.
Darts and spikes are impressive
i seriously thought this was going to be a line of sunglasses that "make you look like a total badass while cutting ropes, cardboard, and big chunks of meat"
I'm not sure if ceramic knives are durable enough.
Can these pierce the base of the skull?
i ordered the entire NightShade series, but how am i supposed to open the box if the knives are inside?
Any of your Nigthshade series you would recomend for self defence?
Uhm, are the edges sharp enough to cut? Or is all you can do stab with the knives?
@Bubbelmax Wow, it's a good thing you understand the intended purpose of these knives.
Cardboard is tougher than flesh, hence why they demo w/ cardboard.
But yesh, I suppose they won't help you if attacked by Treebeard in Fangorn. =p
can you still sharpen these knives with conventional knife sharpeners?
no, you use acetone to melt & shape the platic in order to sharpen.
@TheSOGDog This also means that normal people can bring them on planes too.
do these fall under most blade laws or are they their own class of tool / weapon
@805Shogun I won't use any plastic knifes anymore, but thanks :)
should i get a jungle or delta dart? which is better ounce per ounce?
@Shrimpgoldfish oh i never knew that, thanks i thought that with such an awesome company like cold steel they wouldnt think about the drawbacks
@kingmigget is a Steak knife Plastic? btw C S offers steak knifes if i remember right :P
They are showing you their Piercing power, it's no joke, If your life depended on having one of these knives etc.
ok wen they r fully sharpend r they as a sharp as steel knives?
i would like to put this in a boot does Cold Steel Nightshade FGX Skean Dhu does it come with a sheath if not what is a good sheath to use with it?
Are any of these good for throwing? Or does the light weight stop that from working?
how could they hope to keep an edge at all with plastic! and how do you sharpen them.
Do any of these "knives" fit steel blade sheath?
I love them. But I can't find delta darts anymore, are they discontinued ?
hey cold steel i have a question... are any of the nightshade series illegal to carry in california?
thats the one concern i have on wether or not i will buy one or more... thanks
I got the FGX Battle Ring(and will probably get the jungle dart later), which is pretty cool, but I sure wish you guys would bring back the steel version of that one. Any word on if it will ever be brought back?
Is the FGX Karambit the same size as the cold steel tiger?
oh they seem tough, how lond would you say a edge should hold?
@kingmigget Oh, yeah I've heard of that system. I think most airports still use the metal detector type though, since I travel alot and I've never came across those before. But, yeah, you wouldn't be able to bring it through the 3D picture type, it's too difficult.
@csknives I am looking to but an FGX boot blade 2. Does that come with a sheath?
I got the karambit, and I the blade is also grivory. Which confuses me, what's the point of the knife if it has a plastic blade? I'm not really complaining, i didn't pay a whole lot for it, and its still pretty cool, but I don't understand its purpose. The point is wicked though
Ahh well, thanks man. As for the forums I'll check them out, but I'm extremely, extremely wary about buying used blades(and guns) so it's definitely something I'd approach with caution.
Now for a VERY last resort, Delta Dart or Jungle Dart? Is there really a difference between them?
Delta Dart comes with a sheath that make it look like a pen...I think is better for concealed carry
/)
Also, if you pay for shipping, I'll send you my delta dart if you haven't gotten one already.
why did you guys discontinue them? I already have one but i just want to know.
Im planing to get a Karambit for self defence, would it be ok for self defence?
Most of them have a metal ring attached that is quite hard to remove.
what was in the box? and did it get cut up or stabbed?
I may reconsider. But i have read a lot of negative reviews on places like amazon and other sites. I bought a steel Gerber instead which is fairly light but I haven't been carrying it. But a few weeks ago a dog nearly attacked me (so much for leash laws-and I won't feel bad about leaving fluffy dead in the road with my hands or a knife if it lunges at me).
I'd really like to know if these knives can cut through cardboard.
what was the point of the last test with the hammer? To show us that the knife can be used as a nail? :D
How do you sharp them????
can you cut things with it like a normal knife? if you can only use it for stabbing what is the point
Would the jungle dart work as a throwing knife?
Vahe Marouti probably not
how long do they keep their edge?
that karambit knife seems to me like a perfect knife for disemboweling
Can they be used like normal knifes? For camping , for example? How you sharpen them?
+kiba BG These types of knives are specifically meant for taking places that are otherwise considered restricted access. Airports, pretty much anywhere where you go through a metal detector. You can carry guns in airports, but not past a certain point.
Is the place you go camping restricted access? No? So then why THE FUCK would you want a plastic knife for camping?
***** Its light and cannot rust. But they are made to be used once in a life for personal defence. I got it. Still very nice knifes.
