  • I bought my Magna Cart at CostCo YEARS ago and love it for it's compact size, easy-opening versatility. In recent years it has gotten crankier to open up and today I finally got fed up with it and decided to figure out how to grease and get it working like new again.

    Had this very same problem for years, always unstucking them by hand, watched this video and then four shots of dry film lubricant did the trick. THANK YOU, greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina

    I've had this issue for years and was ready to trash my cart. Luckily I found this video - this did the trick IMMEDIATELY. Thanks so much!

    Great Video!!!! Bought at used store and would not unfold wheels automatically and had to use two hands and a foot to open. I am a mechanical engineer and figured that it must be something with the heavy oxidation of the aluminum and rust chipped from the steel spring causing some restrictions. But Roland figured it out where I failed, . I did not have super lube and didn’t want to use messy graphite or toxic lithium stuff but used vasoline and it worked! A little lube under the circular swash “washer” bottom of the plastic wheel frame and aluminum plate “lift” where there is metal to metal contact might also help.

    Been stuck for years. You're a hero. We used Crisco. Thanks much. Opens easily now.

    Just like everybody else, I'd been wrestling with my magna cart for years, then watched this vid, gave the cart a good spray wd 40 on each side and fixed it instantly! Many thanks!!

    Thx this helped me today. I didn’t have the lube so I used white lithium grease.

    Thanks for magna cart fix. I used a spray lube before and did not fix, but I used super lube like you and my cart didl open. Amazing stuff as it worked instantly and I was ready to throw out a dolly I desperately needed. I did buy a different brand in the meantime and fortunately it did not have any problems. Glad I didn't throw my dolly out. Thank you. Super lube it is, yay.

    This worked great. I used general purpose lithium grease but it seems any spray dry lubricant would also work. Funny how that little bit of drag has such a mechanical advantage.

    Thanks for the direction if you're still out there. I didn't have any type of grease (unless you want to count what's in my hair!) so I used good old WD-40 on the springs and shaft. Works like a champ. been stuck for years!

    Thank you for this video. Ours was always so hard to open that we hardly used it. Didn't have the lube you used but used a little WD40 in stead. Now working like it should - took all of 1 minute to fix. Thank you!

      WD-40 is not a lubricant, it’s for Water Dispersal! :-) it might work for a little while but highly recommend a grease instead... lithium spray, ptfe grease

    • @RolandGustafsson
      @RolandGustafsson  2 роки тому +1

      WD40 is not a lubricant, so that probably won't last that long. Thicker lube or lithium spray is best.

    Nice! The wheels on my dolly have been getting stuck for the last few months now & it’s gotten even worse in the past week😨😨 do you think WD40 would help also? Where can I buy this grease you used?

    • @RolandGustafsson
      @RolandGustafsson  4 роки тому

      Bev Carr sorry, just saw your question! WD40 is not a lubricant. Super lube is available on Amazon. Any synthetic grease would work.

    Did the wheels stay open while in use aver the fix? My issue is that the wheels are stuck getting open like in your case, but once opened and while in use, they start to fold back in. And now they're on an inward angle until I manually straighten them.

    • @RolandGustafsson
      @RolandGustafsson  6 років тому

      The wheels stay open on mine, like new. Perhaps the mechanism on yours is worn out, the snap open part.

      On my cart I also lubed where the metal fold down tray rubs against the frame. I had the same problem as you and this solved it.
