Brilliant! My Grandmother tried to teach me, 50+ yrs ago. My mother tried forty years ago, as I was leaving the nest. Since then, I just kind of fold them in half a couple of times and stuff them in my linen closet. Retired now, so I have the time to learn. UA-cam has too many videos on folding fitted sheets. Hey old timer. After watching numerous videos I FINALLY folded a fitted sheet reasonably well. Didn’t end up in a ball .. I laid the sheet onto a bed then used the horseshoe method.. Video was 1min 20 sec. skip this math nerd and search out that method .. and I’m 65 !!
The only one that actually helped me figure things out. I kept feeling nuts that I couldn't fold one that everyone was doing. But, until I saw yours, I couldn't figure it out
I wanted to surprise my wife by folding all the sheets as I know she's given up following videos and hates it, was utterly shocked that there were so many videos that all went into the same confusing mess after "fold this corner over that"... I even watched them at half speed and still couldn't work out what they were doing as they said descriptively "now that there and that there and stuff it up there" - what?! I actually started to lose hope until I found this video, then nailed it first time and feel like I get it now, honestly thank you so much! I was starting to feel there was some kind of magic circle nonesense going on for laundry where once you know you never teach others, just descend into mumbling and do it with slight of hand to make them think you told them and they were too dumb to get it

This way is so much easier then the other two ways I was shown. One I got lost so that didn't help me the other i could do bug I kept forgetting how to do it when it was time to fold my fitted sheet. This way I won't forget. Thank you mates guy for the easiest way to fold fitted sheets yet.

Further to finding that U-shape... I was so excited about this process finally making some sense that before I'd even tried it for the first time, I showed it to my genius 16yo son. He said that it's like you're starting with a sheet already fitted on a mattress, undoing the top corners and folding them over the bottom corners of your mattress, but inside out. It's kinda obvious when you put it like that...
I found it confusing actually. Is it maths or follow my nose? The fast speech was distracting as I tried to follow the physical explanation. It didn’t translate for me. No close ups to highlight the second lot of corners. For my brain it needs calm, precise and detailed steps to process.
Oh thank goodness!! This has bugged me for years 😫. All the videos I’ve watched tucked all 4 corners together and all I achieved was a lumpy mess. Not a major issue in the scheme of things I know but if there’s a tidy way to do something I damn well want to do it. Thanks James.
I watched 3-4 videos last night and stumbled poorly through. Later that night I saw one that happened to show that key view without calling special attention to it, and it helped immensely! I knew as soon as I saw yours in the feed that this was the one to really teach it. (and still under 7 minutes!)

Hi James, I must have watched umpteen women & men go on about how to fold a fitted sheet and like yourself the beginning of the task looked promising. Then I'd fall behind not long after that I'd think, why can't anybody have a video that is relatable?? Then I came upon a video where a guy named James showed me how to fold a fitted sheet. Ahhh, finally someone whom I understand and can follow along without getting lost! Oh the joy, thank you so very much. I do enjoy it when I conquer a problem. I'll be sure to have a look at your other videos‼️
The problem with the other videos is that you have people who know how to do it and they have forgotten what it’s like to not be able to do it. So they talk you through a couple of steps and assume that they’re actually explaining everything because they understand what they are doing, meanwhile, some things are left incomprehensible to those who don't understand the process. As an educator, you have bypassed this blunder. I also know to avoid that mistake because I have taught people guitar and have learned to put myself in the mindset of someone who doesn’t know what I know. Yours is the best tutorial on how to fold a fitted sheet that I'm aware of.
Best explanation on UA-cam! I was in the same boat as James with being confused by other videos. They don't really explain or show the steps once they get to "fold this corner over." Watched this once and instantly it clicked. You rock!
YES! I looked at several videos - no go. I’ve failed every math class I’ve been in BUT I’m an artist. Geometrical SHAPES and I get along. You are absolutely right. The “U” shape is the key. I watched another video before this and it was impossible to figure out. It wasn’t until you showed me the opening of a new package and I saw it folded in half and I was like dang, ding ding! I had my sheet folded before you even finished your video. Thank you so much.
Ugh the other videos were so confusing and he hit the nail on the head as to EXACTLY where they all lost me. Seeing it go from being perfectly folded to slowly unfolded helped me understand and map out how it was supposed to go. The U-shape also helped a lot. Thanks a bunch, Math Guy.
Reverse engineering is indeed the best way to do it, it's just usually we've long forgotten how it came out of the package when we get around to putting it away again. First time I've actually been able to follow what is going on in a fitted sheet folding how-to--brilliantly done!

This way is so much easier then the other two ways I was shown. One I got lost so that didn't help me the other i could do bug I kept forgetting how to do it when it was time to fold my fitted sheet. This way I won't forget. Thank you mates guy for the easiest way to fold fitted sheets yet.

Further to finding that U-shape... I was so excited about this process finally making some sense that before I'd even tried it for the first time, I showed it to my genius 16yo son. He said that it's like you're starting with a sheet already fitted on a mattress, undoing the top corners and folding them over the bottom corners of your mattress, but inside out.
It's kinda obvious when you put it like that...

I'm trying to picture that in my head and have almost got it.
I found it confusing actually. Is it maths or follow my nose? The fast speech was distracting as I tried to follow the physical explanation. It didn’t translate for me. No close ups to highlight the second lot of corners. For my brain it needs calm, precise and detailed steps to process.
Finally, after decades, I learned to fold a fitted sheet. Thank you.

Oh thank goodness!! This has bugged me for years 😫. All the videos I’ve watched tucked all 4 corners together and all I achieved was a lumpy mess. Not a major issue in the scheme of things I know but if there’s a tidy way to do something I damn well want to do it. Thanks James.

I watched 3-4 videos last night and stumbled poorly through. Later that night I saw one that happened to show that key view without calling special attention to it, and it helped immensely!

Kick ass! Martha Stewart's clip got me to the "U" part but this clip took it home.
The problem with the other videos is that you have people who know how to do it and they have forgotten what it’s like to not be able to do it. So they talk you through a couple of steps and assume that they’re actually explaining everything because they understand what they are doing, meanwhile, some things are left incomprehensible to those who don't understand the process. As an educator, you have bypassed this blunder. I also know to avoid that mistake because I have taught people guitar and have learned to put myself in the mindset of someone who doesn’t know what I know. Yours is the best tutorial on how to fold a fitted sheet that I'm aware of.

YES! I looked at several videos - no go. I’ve failed every math class I’ve been in BUT I’m an artist. Geometrical SHAPES and I get along. You are absolutely right. The “U” shape is the key. When I saw the “U” the rest fell into place. Thank you and God for this video. It’s the ONLY one I’ve been able to follow!

I watched another video before this and it was impossible to figure out. It wasn’t until you showed me the opening of a new package and I saw it folded in half and I was like dang, ding ding! I had my sheet folded before you even finished your video. Thank you so much.
Ugh the other videos were so confusing and he hit the nail on the head as to EXACTLY where they all lost me. Seeing it go from being perfectly folded to slowly unfolded helped me understand and map out how it was supposed to go. The U-shape also helped a lot. Thanks a bunch, Math Guy.

Reverse engineering is indeed the best way to do it, it's just usually we've long forgotten how it came out of the package when we get around to putting it away again. First time I've actually been able to follow what is going on in a fitted sheet folding how-to--brilliantly done!
I kept pausing other videos (with my hands twisted in the sheet!) and always got lost within the first 20 seconds. You gave me a way to THINK about the process that I won't forget - thanks!

After 4 vidoes I found yours, but only after frustration of the others that made no damn sense, I laid it on my bed thinking, that corner fold, over fold, over fold, over fold was too much, and came up through grit, common sense and ingenuity.. The same fold you did! Thanks so much!

I’m hopeless! Such a good demonstration. I thought I finally had it. I’ve watched this guy repeatedly (after already viewing 6 or 7 others🤣). He’s really good. I just can’t do this. I give up!
