Akkusativ oder Dativ? | German Cases Explained!

  • In this video you are going to learn the difference between the German cases accusative and dative and also nominative: Akkusativ oder Dativ? Which one you need to use? Are there rules? How can I determine the difference? To all these questions you will find answers in this video and hopefully understand the German cases better after watching this video.
I will NOT go into detail regarding the declension of articles, pronouns and so on. Because for this we do have separate videos for each and every case as shown later here in this description. This video though should help you to understand the German cases as a whole and get a general idea of the most important cases for beginner learners. I hope this will also work for you. If not let me know in the comments.
As mentioned in the video you can find the most relevant video links below to:
    - German prepositions in different cases
    - detailed videos about each and every German case
    - vocabulary videos to Akkusativ & Dativ

We have the same cases in my mother tongue which is Arabic, so that makes it much easier to be understood. Otherwise, for others I believe it's hard because learning those cases in my own language was as hard as learning them in German now :D

    Tips where very helpful:
    - Subject is always and always nominative.
    - Generally verbs are accusativ (better to learn non accusative ones)
    - If there is only one object it is generally accusativ
    - In case there are two object generally the non person one is accusative and person one is dative
    - In relation to previous line: Indirect object is in relation with the subject (generally non person so in accusativ), the indirect object is not in direct relation with the action in the sentence so can be another person (so dativ)
    - There is relatively small list of dative verbs.

    • @etihidalgogarrido8519
      @etihidalgogarrido8519 2 роки тому +5

I think you are wrong in the fifth tip: Indirect object is NOT in relation with the subject, that is de direct object because it has direct relation with the subject, so direct object is akk and indirect object is usually a person. Read min 6:35 and 11:15

So right now I am somewhat on intermediate level looking for a good videos laying down rules and principles how and why I should speak this way or that way.

    -Nominativ is always the subject.
-One object will always be akkusativ
-When there’s objects and a person, the the person is dativ and the object is akkusativ
-you have to look at the verbs to know which one is dativ/akkusativ when you have 2 verbs.
