    Another great one both my mother and sister both worked in the trim department for years my 2 nephew's worked on the production lines I can't believe it has been 4 years since it closed a sad loss to Elizabeth don't know if it will ever recover

    • @elizabeththatwas
      @elizabeththatwas  3 роки тому +1

      The loss wasn't just economical, it was a blow to Elizabeth's identity and sense of self also. GMH began construction in Elizabeth less than just 3 years after our originals started moving in. It touched multiple generations, including your own family generations, and it will take some time to recover. Elizabeth will recover though - we come from tough stock. But will take time. Thank you again for watching Christine. Always appreciated 🙏

    Oh my goodness. the photo of that guy, Brian Henning brought back memories for me, he and I worked together in the body shop ( Plant 2 )and were friends. he was a Mig welder, and I was a leading hand of the section just after the Mig welding booth. I looked after the metal finish section that metal finished the Mig brazed roof joints, as well as fitting the rear seat flaps to Station wagon bodies and the tailgates, boot lids, and several other operations.

      Awesome. There are a few people spotting themselves or people they know in this vid. Love it. Myself, I worked in paint shop in 1990, then as a spot welder in body shop from 92 - 93. Thank you for sharing with us, and for watching. Much appreciated 🙏

    My dad use to work at Holden. When I was younger use to go to the Christmas tree they had every year till I got older and then my nephew and niece went too. I went to the last one they ever had in 2017.

      Wow - what a beautiful memory to share. Thank you Nadia. Holden's touched our lives in so many different ways. I worked there twice...hated it both times actually, lol. I appreciate that many loved it there though - and a great gift it was to Elizabeth, providing work for multiple generations not just at the factory, but also many smaller businesses in the area supplying components etc. It's greatly missed by many. Thanks for watching and sharing with us Nadia, greatly appreciated 🙏

    Such an amazing story my farther, two brothers, and myself all worked at GMH over the years so many amazing memory's of work mates and funny story's. Sad to know it's all gone now as well as a lot of the other industries that supported Elizabeth in the early days.

      Hey Geoff. Yes, so many great family stories like yours of multiple generations working at Holden's. In so many ways she was the lifeblood of Elizabeth, supported by multiple smaller business supplying components etc. There'll never be another quite like her. Cheers for watching and sharing with us mate. Much appreciated 🙏

    Hey mate this is awesome. I started working at holdens as a security contractor in 2013 and am still there now. It's now called Lionsgate Business Park

    • @elizabeththatwas
      @elizabeththatwas  3 роки тому

      Awesome Steve - thanks for sharing that. I hadn't considered there would be anyone on site still working from that time. That's a huge transition you have witnessed - pre, during and post closure. Working there must be a very different experience from when you started - at least in the overall feel of the place. Lion's gate Business Park sounds a little more information technology based and less Industrial - would that be right?

    Playford had so nuch foresight but the Australian government killed off Holden ,no foresight in the current government such a waist of talent.

    • @elizabeththatwas
      @elizabeththatwas  3 роки тому

      Agreed Andrew. Playford was one of a kind. Absolutely. A man with a vision beyond his own term and personal agendas. Todays leaders could learn a lot. Cheers for watching mate. Much appreciated 🙏🍷
