Stick with KATO's TGV. The smoothness of their motors will simply amaze anyone. I bought the bachmann Amtrak metro liners. The motors vibrated the car. Now, I just keep them on display in the train yard. It's still was the only game in town. Oh, one out of the three Metro liner motors never ran, it just started smoking. Bachmann's newer 'N' Acela train had problems in that the non powered Unit ran off the track because they were too light.
Great video! So glad you got it working! I agree, this TGV is the best version. Pure class! I wish I still had my Kato TGV . That was sweet!! That was a smooth train set! I gotta find that somewhere. Looks great man! Glad it's running good and great display box etc. Cool buy! Cheers!
As for the derailments....my Bachmann TGV set came new with ALL the wheel sets out of gauge. Use the Micro trains standards gauge to set your wheel spacing, and your derailments should vanish.
enjoyed your video! I have two Bach TVG sets and will try to repower with Kato or Tomix power chassis. Have you stripped down yours to the motor? If you have any old Bach diesel units many parts are interchangeable, drive shafts, gears, and wheels.
The tgv in 2007 reached a top speed of 587.4 km/h breaking the record for fastest train in the world, I'm not sure if it's the fastest land vehicle though, but it's defiantly the fastest train!
I would advise you clean points and contacts on old trains. They build up a bit of carbon, which makes the train hit and miss with when it comes to current flow.
The Orange livery (dubbed the "Mediterranean TGV") was for the original, launch section of the network that linked Paris to Lyon back in the early 80s. Later on, this network was expanded to serve pretty much the whole of South/South-East France. The Blue & Silver livery came about 10 years later for operations to the West of France (again, from Paris): it was dubbed the "Atlantic TGV". Then came various other colors such as Yellow (for mail shipping), Red (Thalys) for liaisons between France and the Northern part of Europe (Belgium, Holland...) and finally the Eurostar (White & Yellow) to connect Paris to London via the tunnel under the Channel. Other liveries do exist, but they would be typically found outside of France (Spain...).
Push train... you mean 5 finger DCC... If you are getting the Bachmann set for nostalgia then keep what you got as a display. If you want a train to run get a Kato TGV. Even though the Orange TGV from Kato doesn't have flywheels, it still runs 100% better than the Bachmann one does
im surpised.i just looked on ebay and this set is selling on ebay pretty cheap.the only one left right now is already bidded on but still.most old train set especially N scale don't sell for cheap.i wonder why this set is.i'd probably try and win the one on ebay right now if i had a power pack for it lol that it missing
@@Jaabo37 Im a n scale person who plans on modeling a NS line, but it would be bice to have a collection of other trains and maybe a small HO layout for other stuff. I like n scale for the space, but HO just has that unique thing about it.
You're too impatient for your own good! :) Generally, never do anything delicate while overexcited! Wait to cool down, then take your time and proceed. Long trains do not do well on a narrow track such as this, especially at high speeds. Derailing is, then, expected.
Interesting. Thanks for your input. The train is N Scale so it must run on narrow track. Derailing should not be "expected" otherwise why would anybody bother with N Scale?
By that I meant only when the train is too long and on a curve at too high a speed. My 12-mm gauge trains have that problem. But when such trains roll endlessly, what a pleasure to be around!

I had the Kato N-scale version of the TGV. Ran like a top. Super smooth and very quiet. To this day I avoid Bachmann like the plague.
+TrainMan42 Dude Bachmann here is basically toy grade. I've looked st getting a Kato. Also considered using Kato track for a N Scale layout
+BrickTsar Toyjkllhopppppppppppplh
I hate Bachman except for their spectrum.

Old Bachmann N scale locomotives have a problem with drive gears splitting. I would check for that. These old sets were not real high quality models.

TGV is one of the fastest engines ever.
And sleekest looking as well! That is why I love it!

Nice video never seeing this in n scale
I know this is a few years late, but those gears need lubrication. Dielectric grease works wonders.
Hello, any idea where I can get drive gears for the tgv n scale? both trucks are binding.
I have not found any source other than to by used models with similar design on eBay and hope they work
Pantograph (part on the train) which connect to the Cantanery (overhead wires and supporting structures.
sirs. a late friend of mine had all the different colored n scale tgv trains. each color signified a different route.
Thanks! I guess I like the orange route the best - lol

Mine won’t move can you fix it
always oil and clean new engines and run them in becuse they collect dust from being in the box
How much does this set normally cost new?
I have seen it from about $70 to $100. I do not know what the original retail was but I am think it was less than that
Hi do you know if anyone sells new parts for the n scale Bachmann TGV I need the drive gear .
I do not think they make parts for these but Kato makes a tgv

Starting bids are usually much lower than the final bid. I have been trying to get this one for a while at a decent price
we used to have this orange train
I have this train when i was a kid... unfortunately, i lost the whole track...
I had a ho scale tgv, I regret selling it, it was one of my first trains.
I understand that. I sold my first N Scale and regretted that
