Not saying this is what happened but horses will sometimes take a deep breath of air expanding their bellies as they’re being saddled. Il cavallo non è un pupazzo..peccato non sappia parlare👊
Not saying this is what happened but horses will sometimes take a deep breath of air expanding their bellies as they’re being saddled. If the rider, or the groom, doesn’t check it and re-tighten the girth before the rider mounts the horse, the saddle can slip like this one did, causing the rider to fall off. Glad he wasn’t hurt more. He handled it well, though, despite what happened. 😢
Cinch was loose. He stayed calm!
There's some right idiots about they just don't know the meaning of the word move, and that poor guard that fell from his horse you have to get out of the way for them, I hope the poor lad wasnt badly injured xxxx
Looks like tack malfunction...
Guard handled it Admireably.
😇
Check your girth. Hope he’s ok and doesn’t get into trouble. All people who ride take turns with embarrassment and horses🙄
He will be on a charge for failing to check/maintain his equipment correctly.
@@SteveMrW please excuse my ignorance but what is a charge?
@@mered30 Maybe called before a senior NCO/or his platoon commander to explain why he had not maintained/checked his equipment (saddle/girth strap) correctly before mounting.
It could be extra parades or a loss of pay or both.
Plus his fellow troopers may levy there own fine (beers in the bar).
The biggest punishment though, is going to have to be re-polishing the Helmet/Boots/Tack.
Definitely he kept his dignity. I bet he felt embarrassed but I don’t see why it happens in life and anyone says otherwise…… well no comment ❤
Kudos to that guard, despite the pain to his neck and foot, he maintained his composure and recovered the situation like a true professional. What surprised me most, though, is how young he is, he must only be in his very early 20’s. A credit to his regiment and his family.
Someone forgot to do the second tighten.
Saddle on. Horse relaxes, tighten up. Horse holds his breath a bit when the saddle goes on initially.
Needs a second tighten a few minutes later after horse is relaxed.
Girth a bit loose, has happened to us all at one time or other, especially when our beloved equines blowout when tacking up . 😊
Oh was the girth too loose?? Those of us who ride, we know at some point you come off. I hope he and his horse are ok.
Yes. When he led the horse away the entire saddle had slid over onto the right side of the horse. Definitely wasn’t on tight enough.
We sometimes see the horses on duty in the boxes getting their girths tightened by another guard because the rider thinks it’s not on tight enough.
@@ragland9658 girth can loosen after the horse gets out and about. This rider tried to keep his balance but had to maintain his correct hold on his sword.
No shit Sherlock
@@Sharon-bo2se some horses also suck air (I had one who did this). I learned to smack him on the tummy, he'd release the air, and then I could tighten the girth properly.
@@parkerbrown-nesbit1747 agreed, am familiar with that little trick. The girth can loosen anyway once the rider mounts and the saddle and all settle on to the horse. Just a part of riding.
