I swear Black Patina Beetles are the absolute BEST!!! (for anyone, while you're going through things. A great little trick I learned from old timer at a vw shop I worked in) That front to back main fuel line you can take an old throttle cable and cut the throttle pedal end off so it frays a little then feed it through the tube all the way and hook the solid carb end to a drill and turn the drill on, then slowly feed it out so it's like a spinning brush. it was an excellent way to clean that Front to back main line out . we did it on every customers car whenever we replaced fuel lines. you'd be surprised how much junk is in there stuck inside. then just blow it out .

It’s looking good. Reminds me when I bagged my cousins super convertible bettle 17 years ago. It was fun fabricating all the parts . Nothing like now a days .

I saw this video the day you posted it. It really caught my attention. I love the pre 67 bugs so much. Never had the opportunity to own one..I didn't know about your channel, glad I found it. Now I have another favorite channel to watch on the weekend. I work too much, so your channel will help me unwind, love it. I have a vw caddy that I am trying to get back on the road. Good luck with your channel, I will try to spread the word about it. God bless!

Great video, love your work. I have a 65 Corvair myself (fairly stock ragtop) and would love a bug someday for my son. I'm always looking for one and you videos give me ideas. Patina all the way!

I went through two drill bits and gave up and went with a carbide bit for a rotary tool. Got it at harbor freight. It was kinda expensive though. It was a kit with four bits I think. I am missing a few leafs from when I tried to lower my car the ghetto way about 8 years ago. Now I need them back and lost them when I moved so I’m just gonna replace the entire stack with new ones. It should help me get a better ride. Can you explain what bump steer is. I think I have that. Some times when I hit a bump when I’m turning my steering jolts to one side. I think it my tires rubbing on the inner fenders but only happens when I’m turning into a drive way or something.

@@JohnLudwick That's weird, Chattanooga usually gets as much or more snow than we do here around Knoxville. It just depends on how the fronts come through I guess. I'm just north of Knoxville about 20 mi. and we got about 8 to 10 inches. Sorry you didn't get more.
It might be time to take a trip to the mountains.

Awesome episode John! found you a few months ago and have been going through your channel. Great content dude. fun to watch and i enjoy learning about each car. stoked on this beetle. im looking for a 1980 vw rabbit pickup for my first project. nothing like the hunt. So very cool to see this beetle come together. those eva resto parts look sick. too bad they dont make anything it seems for mk1s. that would be sweeet with how nice the quality looks on em. keep up the good work man! 🤙🤙

If your going to drop it on it’s guts just for a sense of security I’d do a trans raise. I raised mine on my 63 and the only thing that will hit is the pan now.
