Les Claypool is one of the best bassists who ever lived. Try and watch an up close video of him playing a solo. That's what turned me onto them in the first place.

My dad showed me this video when I was like, eight years old. Stuck with me ever since. The drummer's head movements are legend and it's just a massive fucking jam. Primus sucks. RIP pops.
One of the best things I got for my son (so he says)was a Les Claypool for Presadint sticker and he slaped that bitch on his bass!! He got truly lucky and got to play with Les after a show and he told him when you get older I'm out of a job!! If the didn't video type it I never would have believed it!! He started playing at 5yrs old his dad's family and mine all play some kind of instrument or another so he has always been around musicians and he had done alot of Studio work ect... And has been offered a job to play with the Cirque de Soleil band which I hope he takes in Vegas! I'm so proud of him and what he's accomplished in life rock on baby boy I love you!!!!
Saw this live last night in Asheville and it freaking rocked! Had to come find this version and hear it again..long time fan since the 90's and for whatever reason over the years never seen primus live until last night. Been to around 125 different concerts and various festivals and finally check this box! They didn't disappoint even though Les said he turns 60 years old this year. They rocked the place and a sold out crowd!
I have the studio version and have never heard the part about skinny until now.. how is this possible? This was Primus's first song, Les would practice it in the church near his place the song will be 30 years old next year i think
ive actually been meaning to do so.... funilly nough i waas thiking about leaving this comment earlier today when i was driving home and ealised itsso faint becuse of the way my car steeio has been equalized
Saw them open with this last month in Austin... had to leave before the Chocolate Factory even started cuz I brought a mistake with Me.. Blue Balls...must see them again, Les Ler and Herb were just unbelievable..
@Rckrgrl73 I agree, but was there ever a question? I grew up on punk rock and I remember when one of the older guys walked into our squat house and threw Suck On This into the cassette player. No one made a noise for about a half hour. It was like straight edge kids hearing Bad Brains for the first time. Mind Blowing.
@LIOGM This is the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma California. I dont know the year exactly, but this is off the Videoplasty home video. Thats me on stage at 3:48
My neighbor has like 11 cats. I wish I knew how to dub this song and substitute the word "kitties" for "puppies"...I'd blast this song loud as hell every day😅
Never underestimate the power of a straight up 4 on the floor beat in capable hands. It goes hard because the band wears their influences on their sleeve.
So badass! If you play an instrument and have ever had a successful jam session then you know what I say about this song is true. I just love that funk.
just saw them tonight with Split Lip Rayfield and Portugal. The Man, and it was the greatest night of my life, Les is such an awesome dude coming out to sign our stuff, got my booklets for seas of cheese and pork soda signed, did I mention best night ever
All im saying is just step back, and listen to this... almost like it's a joke, maybe something you would see on SNL. My buddy showed this to me as a joke, his exact words were "dude look at this shit, its priceless!!" we still laugh about this from time to time.
I really wanna get a bass and be sucky like Les! I know... I'm gonna have to practice the rest of my life, nonstop, just to get .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% his amount of suck. You're a fucking god, Les!
I love when Les does that big exaggerated march around in a circle. He does that alot and it never gets old.
LukeQuietus And also the drummer’s (idk his name) head bob
That's vintage Les Claypool for ya lol 😂💯🔥🎸
I never noticed but when he does that march it helps him keep in time.
still beyond cool
The Claypool strut
I reckon this is where Korn got the idea for Blind, very similar.
Les Claypool is a machine
It is, this was their inspiration
Damn thia was 10 years ago ok
Lol
@@misterk1nd758 Uploaded 12 years ago, this concert was in the 1990’s. Primus was huge from around 1991-1998.

58 years old. Discovered Primus two days ago & my life will never be the same again. Les, you rule!!
This live version of Too many puppies is amazingly good. The crowd goes totally insane. I saw Primus at Pukkelpop 1992 (Belgium). :-)

The switch from Too Many Puppies to the Hello Skinny cover is excellent.

this band is crazy...love the way they are different
Primus can cover any song. Who's going to cover Primus songs and do them justice when they are gone?
i will when, dw
First started listening and was hooked on Primus 12 years ago. Fantastic band!
I have the studio version and have never heard the part about skinny until now.. how is this possible? This was Primus's first song, Les would practice it in the church near his place the song will be 30 years old next year i think
the part about skinny is a cover of the residents. Look them up, they make primus look mainstream
ive actually been meaning to do so.... funilly nough i waas thiking about leaving this comment earlier today when i was driving home and ealised itsso faint becuse of the way my car steeio has been equalized
Mike Patton should do something with Les Claypool or Primus. That would be great.
Ugh man that would be amazing..
thats gay
Literally too good for this world. I'd pay exorbitant amounts of money to make that happen.
I agree I love Primus/Mr. Bungle/Faith No More 💯🎸🔥
they suck bad. traveled to see them last night and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen
I was at the sailing the sea of cheese tour in denver, and i was an instant fan.
best version ever
Fuckin killed it, still rockin this in 2022!
Saw them open with this last month in Austin... had to leave before the Chocolate Factory even started cuz I brought a mistake with Me.. Blue Balls...must see them again, Les Ler and Herb were just unbelievable..
Look at Les's fingers. Jokers are 2" longer than the average cat. Dude was built for slap bass.
the drummer seems like fred durst
Davide Rizzi definitely is

Clay should be on the next dancing with the stars 🤘🏻
Its always hilarious watching Les do the funny walk to this song.

@LIOGM I want to say it was in 1998. The city was Petaluma CA. This and some more footage from this concert can be seen from their Rhinoplasty video.
one of the best bassists!
one of greatest, most original trios of all time. after watching a bunch of their live preformances i forgot how goddamn tight they are.
When i randomly hear the bell intro im never sure whether im gonna hear Primus or Korn
this is definitely my favorite version of the song. brain really takes this one home....
My neighbor has like 11 cats. I wish I knew how to dub this song and substitute the word "kitties" for "puppies"...I'd blast this song loud as hell every day😅
Too many puppies...too of manyyyyy puuuuppppiiieeeeessss.

Too many puppies?
Too many puppies?
What am I listening to.?
WHY DOES IT GO HARD THO
Never underestimate the power of a straight up 4 on the floor beat in capable hands. It goes hard because the band wears their influences on their sleeve.
Such a great song!
I dig the residents tribute.
Damn that segue into skinny was so smooth
only the most badass of badass can make an amazing song with the title being "too many puppies" lol Primus sucks!
LOVE the segue into the Residents (hello skinny) and back. Love this band period!!!
So badass! If you play an instrument and have ever had a successful jam session then you know what I say about this song is true. I just love that funk.
@toomermcshockey Yeah thats Larry. The drummer is Bryan "Brain" Mantia. I'm guessing this is around '96-'98
just saw them tonight with Split Lip Rayfield and Portugal. The Man, and it was the greatest night of my life, Les is such an awesome dude coming out to sign our stuff, got my booklets for seas of cheese and pork soda signed, did I mention best night ever
the song is talkin about "the dogs of war" but Les is saying there just puppies. To many yung kids are going ot war and being killed
Studio version is great, and this is too. Yeah, the skinny is another inimitable interlude. Fn great.
Fred durst on drums ?
+What if Alex is not kill ? Brian "Brain" Mantia
Is this bigphallus?
What if Alex is not kill ? Lol
Nah, can't be, the drummer is actually talented...
Douglas Patrick True
Claypool and LaLonde are amazing!
I can't wait to see them in May
Everytime I listen to Primus I wish someone could bring back the 90s
El sobrante number one
Absolutely! 3rd Stone is unmistakeable. Nice showcase for Ler's talent.
Woodstock '94 "we're Primus yes and we do suck"
The live versions the best version
probably the best bassist alive-maybe ever
thanks for the upload primus kicks ass
Actually, Primus suck
@grunthunter44
hello skinny - the residents. a great influence on claypool. :)
I love how they do the (nearly) complete version of Hello Skinny in the middle of the song!
love the 'hello skinny' by the residents cover in the middle

Lord! This is SO Weird!

@chessmeister thanks for letting me know what that was, i was jamming along to this and was loving that interlude in the middle, great song
All im saying is just step back, and listen to this... almost like it's a joke, maybe something you would see on SNL. My buddy showed this to me as a joke, his exact words were "dude look at this shit, its priceless!!" we still laugh about this from time to time.
I love Les's stomp/march thing. 5:35 is so epic.
the one song by them i resally wanted too see by them in concert.
Temazoooo !!!!!!!
Yeah, I've noticed that too
But hey, it's Les Claypool, using flamenco style is just one of the millions of things he's capable of
Ler's style is the definition of "method to the madness"
4 months and you are still here, I can´t believe it. Grow up man
love dis song
I really wanna get a bass and be sucky like Les! I know... I'm gonna have to practice the rest of my life, nonstop, just to get .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% his amount of suck.
You're a fucking god, Les!
he's good mind
there's a guy who covers all of frizzle fry on bass. try getting there.
Somehow i love the drums plus the drum ... the refrain got such a nice beat
Why was that so epic???
TOO MANY PUPPIESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
whammy bar on bass=freakin awesome
That drummer was rockin it!
Nice he added in The Residents "Hello Skinny" in there.
LARRY IS FANTATSTIC!
this is a damn good recording
New to the world of Primus...What's the joke? Why is everyone saying Primus sucks?? LOL
Just what the followers of PRIMUS say when they come on...
It's their tag-line or catch phrase kinda like how slip knot fans are known as maggots!
specifically Les used to introduce themselves like that in their early years. "Hi we're Primus, and we suck."
Because a lot of people think they suck because they don't get the style our the absolute brilliance. So the band embraced it.
Kirk Son That's not what happened, but sure.
Primus 3d Friday!!! Can't wait!!
@Jrim615 who says their drummer and guitarist aren't good? they are legends
Only one problem, to many puppies LOLOL Great band great song
Too many puppies..!!!
hecks yes love the resident cover
I like the bass chords. Ban nana nah bah bah baaaah. Gona try this out.
Nice song
Just off the hook. Live it's waaaay louder. Lol 💖👍👌🤟🎃💖🏴☠️
Love the 👓.
I love this song
Moi aussi 😁
What m8?
Fabrice Bouvresse I'm gonna guess you like it as well
CLASSIC. PRIMUS = 10
Love that countdown. But I’ve never seen Les squat bare-assed over a man’s face. Well, except that one time . . . .
Primus #1
PRIMUS RULES!
brain mantias one of my favorite drummers
