The significance of this era of Primus was they really started to dive deep in expanding and jamming on their songs. Which in my opinion resulted in some of the finest performances I have ever witnessed.
11 years ago and about a month give or take. I caught them on this epic tour. My god they were magnificent to the ears and the eyes. I for one felt elevated by their performance and their live improv was hypnotic and otherworldly.
1. Definitely one of the best basslines ever (up there with Flea's Higher Ground and Geddy's YYZ) 2. He must be able to crush diamonds with his left hand. I've got pretty string hands and I can barely do this lick clean once...
Oh man this version gives me chills. I love it!!! I have this on DVD but its still cool to find it on youtube, now I can put it on myspace and facebook and blogger and all that shit!!!
Hey , i can respect that , it seems very resonible and i don't know bassists besides les, but thats because he sticks out so much. Either way his music is definetly orignal and great in it's genre.
** In a town in southernmost Sicily Lived a family too proud to be poor In the year that fever took father away They hastened for American shores Mother and son are standing in line It's a cold day on Ellis Isle They look to the Statue of Liberty For the boy we have American life Ong is a Laotian refugee He works in the audio trade Smoke from flux is filling his lungs He's earning minimum wage Spending spare time down on San Pablo Ave Once a week gets a woman for the night And he writes home tales of prosperity For the boy we have American life Bob is an unemployed veteran Born and bred in the South Bronx He's living off the streets now in east L.A Residing in a cardboard box Now he plays a little guit and he has a small dog Searching for aluminum cans Holds on tight to his dignity He was born into American life **
strumming with rightm playing with the left, Bryan was only the drummer for the Brown Album and Antipop, so Tim is the drummer for this and the studio version.
@MokeZone Im just stating what Primus use to say on live concerts: "Hello, we are Primus, and unfortunately we suck!" Im not saying that they actually I suck. I love them
when you say higher ground are talkin about RHCP or stevie? both are great, and so is yyz. but its not about how much talent it takes to play them, and personally, i think fleas version of HG sounds amazing. so does this - its extremely difficult and it sounds great.
Gracias yo lo tengo en un cd una versión de sailing seas que tiene tomy the Cat american life y Thela Hun Ginjeet de king crimson y no lo podía encontrar en la web es una versión terrible
My point was that this technique is not that difficult. I wasn't trying to go around saying I have an awesome band with a DVD that will blow your mind. I am fully aware of the creative genius that is Primus. I meant no disrespect whatsoever dude... If you notice in my first response to dilated123, I mention that I understand that he is a genius.
victor wooten mark king larry graham i love claypool too, but u cant really say he's the best ever granted, u cant really say anyone is the best as there are differing styles of play etc., but as far as technical talent, he does not take the cake, there are ppl that can play things he cant
To me, this song is about the bass VERY LITTLE and even Les being the bass king he is, that's fine for me. I feel the heavy grittyness of the lyrics but mostly the song seems to be geared towards setting up Ler doing his thing the last minute or so. Describing it a different way: The final 17%, or thereabouts, of this tune; starting at about 8:24 in this video is the pressing where the previous is the swell, milking, and churn. Pure cheese amazingness... I love this tune so much.
as far as i can remember les was mates with kirk hammett, was in a band called blind illusion together? don't quote me on that. there's a link between them for sure tho. yes, he is too funky for metallica, but check out master of puppets, the intro by primus, tis the shit lol x
what, someone started on tool. NOW IM GOING TO POST LIKE CRAZY!!! btw, if you think pandoras shitbox is funny... check out trailer park boys and pay close attention to mr. lahey.
Geddy plays more notes and plays some nice mini solos, but the Higher Ground bass line - the speed slap-and-pop plus the funky blues licks... c'mon now...
The significance of this era of Primus was they really started to dive deep in expanding and jamming on their songs. Which in my opinion resulted in some of the finest performances I have ever witnessed.
This whole show is unbelievable. The best. I feel very very lucky to be alive and witness something like this.
goodfuckingod..you are right!! its perfect!
only band i know that when there's a guitar solo going on, i am still listening to the bass line
I remember the good-ole days of skipping school, driving around all day, and keeping this album playing the whole time... good times.
I've been listening to primus since 95 and they are still my favorite band. thank you Les Claypool.
This dvd is one of the best live performances i've ever seen.
True true true
One of the best versions of this live track.
Great Performance,love this DVD 📀 😊
Jeden z niewielu koncertowych klipów, który wprowadza mnie w tak świetny klimat ;)
Hypnotic music.....the jam is like being put into a trance and then they rock you out ......theyre a trip!!!!
wow i think ler FUCKING OWNS everyone out there today, underestimated guitarist
11 years ago and about a month give or take. I caught them on this epic tour.
My god they were magnificent to the ears and the eyes. I for one felt elevated by their performance and their live improv was hypnotic and otherworldly.
Same it was my first concert ever, the day after I went to the show I went and bought my first bass and i've been playing ever since.
This whole thing.. from start to finish.. is the definition of bad-ass. And that, to me, is what life is all about.
Primus was like, one of the most original bands of the 90's. Way cool.
The new Primus fans who don't understand "Primus Sucks" are defending the comments they see as hateful - so take it easy on em people.
I lOVE PRIMUS!! They are the coolest band!
Their recent set/tour with Slayer was insane as well. I remember playing this dvd constantly! Les Claypool For President!
My God! This Is MUSIC ROYALTY!
This has always been one of my favorite Primus songs.
Love this performance
Top three favorite Primus songs in no particular order. American Life, Mr. Krinkle, and Dutches and the Perverbial Mind Spread.
one of my all time favorites. great to see a video for it on here.
1. Definitely one of the best basslines ever (up there with Flea's Higher Ground and Geddy's YYZ)
2. He must be able to crush diamonds with his left hand. I've got pretty string hands and I can barely do this lick clean once...
he has better basslines. this is literally all just hammerons and pulloffs. i love it but it's not really one of the best ever lol
Wow just wow. I like that vertical floor tom too that's awesome.
the best live version of this song ever! primus SUX HUGE!
that is sooooo amazing! saw them back in the days in frankfurt, egrmany and they simply blew everything away! still awesome ...
This is one of my favorite bass lines. Amazing song.
mommy, this band frightens me :-o
one of my favorites
One part Rush...one part Ren and Stimpy. Oh, and this version deserves all awards.
Love this song, love the whole sailing the sees of cheese LP, Great work.
If you ever have the chance go see this band! They put on a fantastic show.
such a catchy tune, never knew primus was this good.
They are very good.
Oh man this version gives me chills. I love it!!! I have this on DVD but its still cool to find it on youtube, now I can put it on myspace and facebook and blogger and all that shit!!!
Just checking in, as you are, too 🤘

everything in it's right place!!! goddamn they are good!!!
how he plays this bassline always blew my mind
god I forgot how brilliant Primus are.Great lyrics.
great performance from the mighty primus
this band is very good
Hey , i can respect that , it seems very resonible and i don't know bassists besides les, but thats because he sticks out so much. Either way his music is definetly orignal and great in it's genre.
** In a town in southernmost Sicily
Lived a family too proud to be poor
In the year that fever took father away
They hastened for American shores
Mother and son are standing in line
It's a cold day on Ellis Isle
They look to the Statue of Liberty
For the boy we have American life
Ong is a Laotian refugee
He works in the audio trade
Smoke from flux is filling his lungs
He's earning minimum wage
Spending spare time down on
San Pablo Ave
Once a week gets a woman for the night
And he writes home tales of prosperity
For the boy we have American life
Bob is an unemployed veteran
Born and bred in the South Bronx
He's living off the streets now in east L.A
Residing in a cardboard box
Now he plays a little guit and he has a small dog
Searching for aluminum cans
Holds on tight to his dignity
He was born into American life **
man, i knew they jammed, but i didn't know it was this badass!
If sheep get to listen to Primus then count me in.
yeah ive been playing bass for less than a month and im already learning this song
this is complete badass cruisin music
oh hell yeah!
strumming with rightm playing with the left, Bryan was only the drummer for the Brown Album and Antipop, so Tim is the drummer for this and the studio version.
this song and over the electric grape vine are the songs i tryp to.
@poopnugget24 dude, you need to put the volume up. I don't think you heard the song
Lotta of Pink Floyd mixed with a touch of Police in the meddle section and a bit of 60´s acid. Amazing.
Jesus Christ...Awesome...:)
Ballad of Bodacious is tied with Lacquer Head... for me anyways. dammit, then there's Southbound Pachyderm as well. These guys are just awesome!
Turn it up!
Absoulutely isnpired playing took place on that stage that night!
wooten ROCKS!!!!!!
PINK FLOYD!!!! on the run and american life. its offically been done
this should be our new national anthem.
Claypool played that tonight at the Variety unaccompanied on bass banjo!!
fuckin awesome performance.
"That's just like you opinion man".
(Jeffery Lebowsi)
hahahahaha.
(it was their little kinda chant when they first started out, if you watch early videos of them playing even les says it)
Primus Sux!!!! This song is better when you watch it stoned...like Les...
@MokeZone Im just stating what Primus use to say on live concerts: "Hello, we are Primus, and unfortunately we suck!" Im not saying that they actually I suck. I love them
Saying Primus sucks is a complement. It's what they said in the 90's. In order to say you love Primus, you proclaim they suck.
If you play bass, guitar, drums, or are a fan of Primus, WATCH THIS VID!
when you say higher ground are talkin about RHCP or stevie? both are great, and so is yyz. but its not about how much talent it takes to play them, and personally, i think fleas version of HG sounds amazing. so does this - its extremely difficult and it sounds great.
SOOO AWMSOOOMEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@killakingz1 I'm not sure you understood what he meant... xD
Watch Primus on the Woodstock 94 stage. Look it up.
les claypool can round up harlem with his bass, jive brothers should love this chit.
I got to see them in 2022 in Quebec City and I can't wait to see them again. I hope I am lucky enough to experience this song live. Primus sucks!
herb owns!
no, there's videos of them playing together, and i dont think les claypool would play with GNR
Not my favorite primus song but...it is my favorite song of this concert DVD. 5/5
Gracias yo lo tengo en un cd una versión de sailing seas que tiene tomy the Cat american life y Thela Hun Ginjeet de king crimson y no lo podía encontrar en la web es una versión terrible
FKN Bass is DOOOOOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kirk produced a Blind Illusion album, but I don't think he ever was part of the band. Apparently Les and Kirk went to school together.
It seems we both are missing something. YOu don't have Lebowski and I don't have Hallucino Genetics! AHHH
My point was that this technique is not that difficult. I wasn't trying to go around saying I have an awesome band with a DVD that will blow your mind. I am fully aware of the creative genius that is Primus. I meant no disrespect whatsoever dude... If you notice in my first response to dilated123, I mention that I understand that he is a genius.

dont overthink it

WwwwwwooooooooooOOo HOoooooooooooooooooOOOOO
So fucking sick omg
of course les is playing it, he is playing everything.
all i know for sure is brain is on brown album.
Bah wrong post...my Fav Primus song is Too Many Puppies
@paulalex17 damn straight.
@Canaveral305 Yep, I know that... good influences!!!!! LOL!!!!
Lessons and ten years of playing. Surely I should watch your DVD. What is your bands name? Technique doesn't equal creativity.
They fucking rule
what, someone started on tool. NOW IM GOING TO POST LIKE CRAZY!!! btw, if you think pandoras shitbox is funny... check out trailer park boys and pay close attention to mr. lahey.

LES is the man BUT so are Herb and LER!
Yeah, that's pretty cool how that's totally cheap. I don't have a camera to do so, but if you want it can be taught, it's really easy man.
point taken. I get carried away :)
Nine Inch Nails - Beside You In Time DVD
4:59 Once again!
