Another very crisp example! 👌As a Tiptronic driver myself I can only agree. Also, one highly overlooked advantage of the Tiptronic is the on point rev matching. Especially when downshifting while on a spirited drive. Also great cinematography. Keep ém coming Trevor!

Good video. I had the stick in my 996 Turbo and now have the Tiptronic on my 997 Turbo. Totally happy and fine with the Tiptronic & I like the 997 for so many more reasons. Imo the 911 turbo is the best all round sports car ever made and the 997 was the best version ever made. Cheers

This car is perfect for 99% of the driving a driver will typically do in this modern world. For the last 1% a manual would be better. Whereas for a manual I'd say it's perfect for the 1% of driving and has one pedal too much for the remaining 99%.
Doing things like a TCU tune and a steering wheel with paddle shifters makes the experience even better 🙌

Here in the States, a Cab sells for substantially less than a hardtop (given the same transmission) and having a Tip even devalues the car more. So when I traded my 2004 996 C4S Cab manual ($90k original list) for a 2004 996 Cab Turbo X50 Tip, highly optioned ($163k original list) ( in comparison a 2004 GT3 had a original of $125k) the difference I paid on the trade was $15k. Both cars had similar mileage of 35,000 miles. I don’t track my cars, I do roads trips, so the Tip is perfect for that driving experience.

I've met Paul many times at various car meets. Always great to have a chat.
This car was for sale via Duke of London, so I'd seen it before seeing it out and about. There may be a delay with the box, but it's a super quick car even by today's standards.

"Shift up on the right side and down on the left"? As far as I'm aware, you're able to shift up or down on both sides of the steering wheel with those strange thumb buttons (instead of paddles).

A great car for town or cruising. Even with a tip it’s still very rapid.

Had a 997.1 Tip C4S cab a few years ago…couldn’t get on with it, maybe it was me but I had to sack it off after a year.

Good video 👍 I bought a Porsche 2006 997.1 Turbo Tiptronic a few months ago, mainly because I have been driving automatics for years and mostly in London for cruising . However, I believe the manuals may hold their value a little better ?

the shift delay is still faster than a manual shift.. and the turbo lag? well, while it is lagging it is still as fast as a non turbo.

Until you drive a tip it’s difficult to know how they feel. I have a 996 tip and it is great. Especially in london!

I daily a 958.2 Cayenne and the tiptronic is noticeably slow and clunky. It works fine, but definitely is not at all comparable to a manual or a PDK. Unless i was physically incapable, I’d get the manual all day, even with Los Angeles traffic.

Change gear ,, when you want, not when the car thinks you need it, that’s the fundamental of manual control 😂
