Another awesome video mate, I had this one and the Zelda one as a kid (I'm 36 now) I don't remember them being that hard lol, but read this pal: The object of the game, as in the original Super Mario Bros. 3, is to save Princess Toadstool. The game is controlled with the left, right and up buttons with up acting as the jump button. In order to navigate through the level, the player must time their jumps and movement properly to prevent Mario from getting hit. To start the game, the player has to go to game mode and hit the bottom button. Mario starts in the top left corner. He goes down with an elevated platform. He must avoid a Fire Brother, who tries to hit Mario with a fireball. Then, he can go to the right and get a Starman for invincibility against the Goombas coming at him from the left. He must hit the P-Switch to open the warp zone to go to the bottom right. Then, Mario can get the Super Leaf and swat his tail at Goombas. The Jump Blocks get Mario to the next platforms above to face Bowser. The game puts the player in the top right corner, where Bowser is spitting fire at Mario. A coin will then appear above the player. Bowser can be defeated by going left and under him and jumping underneath him several times until he falls. Then, the game is over and the player gets to start all over again. Just copied it off a site for ya
These were so frustrating back in the day. I had a Hello Kitty pocket game (not a watch) and I remember rage quitting it as a kid so many times. Still awesome to see and I hope I can dig up my old LCD pocket games at some point. Great stuff man. Thanks! 😁
Thank you so much for making this video, it inspired me to go through my Nelsonic Nintendo watches (I've got Zelda and StarFox) and take the dead batteries out. I'm glad I did because the battery in StarFox had started to corrode. No damage to the board that I could see. Close call!
My days, what a blast from the past, I had this watch in my last year of junior school and bloody loved it I had totally forgotten about it. Thank you so much for making me reminisce, happy memories!! 👍🏻
The reason you can't work out how to start it is because a jingle plays when you start a game. If the sound is disabled then the game is still programmed to wait for the music to finish before anything happens.
Good job brother!! Hey, it was super satisfying to see someone other than myself get frustrated at a game, and the whole 1 more try that led to 3-4 tries Lol lol lol thank you, always been a fan, have a great day!! -Jamal
You sure make repairs look easy. It takes alot of patience. Nice video and thats definitely a time piece to a collection. I havent seen that watch since about 91' to be honest
I bought the white version new from K-Mart in the early '90s. Loved setting the alarm for a minute ahead to hear the music from SMB3 level 2. :) Loaned it to some kid who immediately got it confiscated in class by playing it when he wasn't supposed to. :( I did finish the game tho'
I also got mine from K-Mart. The teachers didn't know it was an actual game though. When my English teacher saw me playing it in middle school, I told her that I was setting my watch. Lol.
Makes a much better decorative piece than something you’d actually play by the looks of the infuriating gameplay. Watching the clean and repair appeals to my OCD though. Nice work!
Hey man I have 3 star fox watches all with the same issue. When a battery is inserted they begin to continuously beep on and off. I took all three apart and cleaned them. I did a visual look at the solder joints and traces. I don't really see any corrosion. Any idea what is going on? I mean all three do the exact same thing. The one I had for a few years and worked last time I had a battery in it. Now nothing.
I got this from Argos in primary school days. Also had the Donkey Kong game you had. That is worth saving if you can. The best ‘LCD’ game in my opinion was the double dragon one made by Tiger
I had this watch as a kid, my English teacher took it off me for playing it in class, and someone stole it out his drawer. I was gutted, then my mum got me the Zelda watch it was decent. You've made me want to collect them now.
@@blankpage9277 That might have happened I know my parents weren't very pleased and went to the school. All I was told was to leave it at home on School days, I have managed to buy a new one on eBay, I will look after it much better than the younger me.
To start press the red left button and the down button and it is all about timing there is a certain lift you have to go down and pass bowser at a certain time
I remember seeing these at a K-Mart. I wanted one so bad... it was in the Jewelry section, I asked my mom and she said maybe next time. Next time never came. 😢
Elliot, great watch had one as a kid, played mario in class. teacher never knew!btw it should have sound.the spring inside is a contact to speaker on back of watch.
Had this exact watch as a kid! Played it quite often. Can't remember if I was any good. The watch straps disintegrated by the time I was in high school and I'm pretty sure I threw it away. D:
Oh dang, I remember those "game" watches from my childhood. All those janky games with super weird controlls. Can't remember what game (or clone) I got.. it wasn't something official from Nintendo, but it was some kind of platformer.
Where is the audio in the game? It supposed to have some melodies from the game and other gameplay effects. I have one myself and a Zelda version I also actually managed to get through the levels as a kid, there is a pattern that is always the same, know the pattern and you'll win the game easy. If I'm correct the first part is wait in place for the first goomba, jump over it and go right once, wait for goomba and jump over and go right etc till the platforms that are going down. That way you'll pass the fireball that kills you mid-way
I love the fact that you give all the devices you work on a nice did you go deep clean, I know that it is standard practice in technology maintenance, but all that alcohol is purifying spiritually, essentially what you are doing for that technology 🙂🙂🙂
Wow so easy. How can't you beat it. When you get to the platform just push up up down left down up left and squash the red buttons while spinning in a circle
You really need the sound to play this. I had one and it was pretty frustrating. You are starting it fine but it has a fanfare so without sound it just seems to freeze. With sound you can hear everything has a definite pulse so it become about watching what each obstacle is doing on what beat and timing and anticipating. Really horrible game. I still have this I think and the follow up mario world one (with headphone port!)

This sounds really elaborate compared to what it looked like in the video!
Make this a course theme in Super Mario Maker 2. New hardest Mario game.
Mi Shi I’m gonna do that!
I'd enjoy that!

@@FrezzyYT did you make it?
Nice looking watch Elliot, great condition :-) Have you got past that bomb part of the game yet, it looks impossible???
Nope! I don’t understand it haha.
My guess is that you need to wait one more elevator step before jumping on it?
I had one of these as a kid. It took me forever to work out how to get pas the last bit. I still remeber all the sound effects.

Had this one and the Zelda one, back in the day! I'm amazed yours still has the original resin straps, as they were always the first things to go!
Oldgamingfart yeah my Mario world watch straps are split and gone funny and sticky.
"Oh God, I'm done!"
Proceeds to try again. :)
Good to see the old watch working again. Got that on holiday in blackpool about 30yrs ago. Good job

I've owned this one. Imagine that you had to save all your allowance - it wasn't cheap - and then got this.
And had to like it :(

I have a Donkey Kong II Game & Watch in VERY bad condition, BUT I think both screens still work, and it still has the buttons and stuff too.

Your teacher should have been the one to pay for it since he let it get stolen.

I thought my local retro store had the super Mario bros game and watch you showed earlier but I guess I misread it and it was actually this watch
For me the best way to make the black rubber contacts clean, is use it like an rubber on an clean peace of paper.

Hi Elliot can u pls repair a battery of a silver or gold pokemon games?or even red blue and yellow
You make it look so easy i might just send you this handheld i got because i get mad looking at it I thought i cought them sliping but it doesn't work
Still have my original one of these from Christmas in the 90's still works, still hard as balls! >
Man, brought me back. When I was like 10 or so I had the Super Mario World one. I wish knew what I did with it.
Have you seen the price of those donkey Kong game and watch consoles now, if only I knew back in the day

Ah man! Good memories!
*nope, i died*
Awesome game! I grew up owning both Mario and Tetris and I still have them and they still work :) And the Mario game is actually a lot of fun.
Brings back fond memories, i had the same game-watch as a kid. And yes it's a very frustrating game.
How’s the leg healing?
The watches are so interesting, there is multiple.
Just one comment: use a microfiber on your table, so your stuff doesn't scratch as you slide it around
I'd say keep the blue super mario 3 border, throw out the rest, and stick that baby onto a modern smart watch :P
That Game & Watch it’s totally unplayable, the only thing that You can do is to collect it and use it like a little watch.
Good work but need to get the sound working mate, you going to revisit this?
No sound? Mine had sound.

Good thing you had 10 min practice.😆 Think I know how that button got mangled the first time round.
I had that watch when I was a kid. Wish I had kept hold of it.

I have PTSD from games like this.
You should start an asmr channel that uses all sorts of retro tech
"We are cooking with gas"
Is it propane though?
Even though that looked near impossible to beat that thing is still hella cool
There were some sick TMNT ones too!
Had it in jr. High....you're not wrong.
WAIT FOR THE NEXT PLATFORM FFS
Great video love your content 👍 keep it up
There is a completely drop-in Gameboy color screen out now! It's Chinese and is on AliExpress. I've seen it and it works. Please do a video on it.
Jump once you get on the platforms lowering, looks like the sequence expects you to.
No lol he just needed to wait for the next platform :D
God I remember these. We used to own the Star Fox one
I still have my Mario world watch laying around
That Mario decal's eyes...
I had one exactly like it, but Robocop themed! :)
I'm salty the genesis mini throwback style commercial I seen didn't say nintendont
I still have mine, got it when I was a kid, it's white!!! never used it after the battery died. And yeah it's impossible to beat I also gave up lmao

A game.... and a watch. Who would have thought
Wore this watch to school a couple of times in the early nineties. Nobody liked the game, me neither...
How are this games not on smart watches by now?
But Elliot its not 9AM its midnight! :)
great video as usual! keep it up.
i Got this watch from Argos on my 10th birthday. I could complete it in less than 30 seconds. It was a horrible watch and game
Wow, the hardest watch to figure out.
I had the Tetris one, until my friends brother stole it :(
It's not a game and watch at all. It's just an LCD game watch.
I had one of these as a kid.
Wow. That looks... interesting...
His name was Drew and he gave you a nintendo item, was it Nintendrew?

that's more like watch and game
So it’s a game and watch watch ?

👍😎
Oh no I'm done. Legend lol

So did you ever figure out the game?
I still have my Tetris watch lol
There's a Mario world one.

Kaizo Mario lol
