Few guitar players are as identifiable within one bar as Cornell Dupree...those slides, those double stops. His feel is magical..truly inspiration since the mid 1960s.
Hey Mike, GREAT stuff man, making West Warwick RI proud! If you are ever back home gotta have you in for a clinic/workshop...and meet the kiddies in West Warwick HS "Wizard Band Land." - Metro
Well this drummer is Michael Clarke with an "e" (spelled the same as the late Byrds/SpyroGyro drummer) and I believe he has played with both KM Myrland, Alex and some of his best work was with the (original) Doorbells. He is very groovy. Alive and well in LA (as far as I know...
Nice group but I t aint stuff. Sure it has Gordon and Cornell but it just ain't the same. The beautiful thing about the original stuff was when some one took Asolo you thought they were the best one in the group but then when the next person took a solo they were even better. What a great combination of players that group was you will never see anything like it again.
"Three Finger" Jimmy Smith on keys, not to be confused with the famous Hammond player. He lost the two middle fingers of his left hand in a childhood fireworks accent, but it sure didn't slow him any. Always did top work...King Curtis, etc. Nice guy too.
@tcmdrumz Quite right - it isn't Mike Clark from Headhunters (I actually interviewed him around '98 at Montreux so I am certain... :-) ... The information I have is that the name of the drummer here on this clip is Mike Clarke ... I have been unable to discover much about him at all - perhaps someone could help out here Bob
I think this song was written by someone at Motown (including Gladys Knight as a co-writer, so I've been told) for Jr. Walker, who recorded it before the Crusaders did.
How funny, in an ironic way, the Mike Clark I know is/was a drummer with Herbie Hancock's 'HeadHunters' and the Jimmie Smith I know of was Erroll Garner's drummer !?! Anyone know of any CDs that these two are on so I could give a listen ?
One of my favorite guitarist. RIP Cornell.
Me too

I love how when Cornell takes a solo he speaks each note! Watch his mouth!
he hums the melody. check out his guitar lessons when he's mic'd up.
I don't think it can be done better than this. Outstanding.
Jimmy Smith and Cornell Dupree. Two of my favorites, players and friends. RIP. I miss you both every day.
One of those jams you don't ever want to ever.
RIP Cornell..epitome of taste....
Wow the legend Jimmy Smith on keys!
He's not Jimmy Smith
@@karengevorkyan2546 He is Jimmy Smith, but not the organ legend.
Wow Jimmy!
Cornell Dupree with YAMAHA Pacifica...great tone !!
The master of "underplay" ,
you can listen to him a zillion times and every time it just more tasty that the last.
Groove-ality!
Cornel always amazing.
Plays with a Southern drawl.
One of my all time faves.
Thank you so much
Cornell played to the very end. Damn I loved him.
I always loved the way Cornell Dupree played..
He was a rhythm guitar master.
Wow that Alto is killin..Alex Foster.. The Jimmy Smith Keys..!
Woah! So tight and groovy! Oh, and Alex Foster's altissimo is incredible! :D

@@BernardPezzimenti That is Alex Foster on sax!

People get so hung up on "personnel" that they lose perspective and miss out on what truly matters. The MUSIC! This "version" of Stuff nailed it.
@@sumoblues it's great but I agree the original stuff band was legendary, Eric gale was the man along with tee and Steve gadd.
The piano player carried the band in that soulful RnB style.
Go listen to Richard Tee then... he really carried it in 89’ in Bern, Switzerland.

This is a Crusaders tune. Written by Wilton Felder. Great!!
Please!! listen to the 1988 version! with ron cuber etc.
Way Back Home is a composition by Wilton Felder of the Jazz Crusaders. Just in case.
nice take on a Jr. Walker song!
What happened with Jimmy Smiths left Hand? He plays insanely good though!

1.41 is the start .
A Crusaders tune.
How incredible would a Richard Tee/ Joe Samples have been?
Both the guys you mentioned are in versions of this song on UA-cam. Neither video comes close to this performance.
5:41 piano solo
it's a Yamaha signature model; unfortunately not a production model.
Isn't the Yamaha Pacifica 800 similar?
Doesn't Cornell always play SO SWEET?! Anyone know what kind of guitar he is playing here?
It's complicated -- let's leave it at that.
still cookin' altough Tee ain't there..kudos

@BeatBay Yeah, I loved Stuff because of the guitar interplay. I miss Eric Gale.
And this sax player kinda sucks
生音の方が格段にいいじゃねえか。
