Yup I’m late. Sorry about that. But it’s done. Phew.
    So.
This Oregon coast magic, is real. It’s a touch it and taste it and know that your eyeballs do not deceive you, kind of real. This day was the highlight of our trip, and the one I had anticipated the most.
I actually stumbled across Hug Point on a UA-cam video about Cannon Beach a little over a year ago. I saw that waterfall and I knew I had to go there. The thing is, this inconspicuous location disappears into the coastal forest along Highway 101, and most will never stop here, unless it is their destination.
There is a large parking area, and restrooms. It’s tricky getting on to the beach, due to the high tide ‘hugging’ the shoreline. The steps are steep, and the last step is not for the faint of heart. But, there is slightly less intimidating access just to the right of the railing. It is not accessible for anyone with physical limitations. Proceed with caution. The tides here can easily trap you, which is why we were up before dawn and on the road at sunrise. I had limited time to explore and film as the tide was already coming in when we arrived.
So with the hurried pace and my extreme excitement for what unveiled itself beyond the point, I may not have captured things the way I was hoping.. I kinda get lost in the scenery and the atmosphere and the excitement of creating, and so I am learning to breathe, pause, anticipate… and have more patience!
Another thing about shooting beautiful places, is that sometimes, I take a little toooo much footage. Which means a LOT of time spent using the process of elimination to sort through it all. It’s a bit long and It took me five days to create this one. But I love it. I love the Oregon coast.
The waterfall, the old stagecoach road, the caves… oh! So many trinkets of eye candy! I hope you get a sense of looking around as if you were taking it all in on your own; to have the sense of being close enough to almost feel the water and touch the rock. When you look at something, you don’t just look at it once and move to the next thing. No! You stop and look at every angle, sway your gaze up and down, left and right, absorbing it all. And that’s what I hope to convey. Anywho…
Ecola State Park near Canon Beach, is absolutely gorgeous. I wish there were more hours in a day, as I would have loved to have lingered longer in this whole area. So many nooks and crannies to discover. And I never knew of this filming location for The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. Pretty cool. The views from both the top of the park and down at Indian Beach are stunning, plus there are trails along the coastline for even more spectacular views.
    And, there’s another lighthouse.😁
“Terrible Tilly” is out there sitting on a solid acre of basalt rock, and has quite the story-I encourage you to google the history on it, which is… terribly, interesting. First lit in 1881, she was the most expensive lighthouse ever built on the West Coast, and the myths, mystery and intrigue that surround her are certainly something to behold.
Well this was a challenging project, even choosing the music was hard. And I’m up 5 hours past my bedtime to finish this, rambling on about all-the-things with my lazy, but honest writing tonight.
Next Friday will feature the second half of our day, where we wandered around Fort Stevens State Park. That was fun. I hope you enjoy the waves, caves and waterfalls… Thank you for your patience, and please forgive the late release. I am so happy to make these for you! I will work hard, rest hard, and…
    I’ll catch ya next time!♥️

My husband and just found your channel and love your videos. Absolutely stunning footage and I love your musical choices also. The only problem is that we are ending up with way too many places we want to visit. 😂
