Broken to the core. The fact that people are TERRIFIED about going to trial where you are defending yourself against charges you haven't committed and can prove so easily tells you something is very sketchy. There is a reason the prison industry gives all this money to politicians. It's a corrupt game and they are profiting off the misery of the citizens.

Oh yeah, I am from alabama, was looking at trafficking charges for 2oz of weed and 15 5mg hydrocodone pills. Started at 25 yr minimum and got off with 2 months county time, and 3 years supervised probation after hiring a guy who was an internal investigator for the very DA charging me, and fees were upwards of 200k. I was only 18 at the time and got lucky that my granddad had the money from selling his business years beforehand. I live with him to this day, to help take care of him and his medical needs as the very least I can do for him saving me from prison. I've told him countless times I could never in my life repay what he did for me. Always have called him my dad due to an absent father, but he really proved he was my real dad that day when he showed up to pay for my lawyer and bail me out. 2 years ago after I performed 15 minutes of CPR while having a panic attack and saved his life he told me we were even, and I told him it's not even close, and I still owe him everything. I wouldn't have been out and at home to save him, had he not saved me from prison.

That charge stacking is big part why innocent people go to prison in Usa. It's like you are told that you will do say 10 years or risk it on life sentence or free. Many people will just take the ten or five or whatever it is and now you have pleaded guilty so even if irrefutable evidence came up next day it doesn't go to court anymore and you do the time. It's pretty f'd, and it's just one of the many flaws in usa's court system and some people swear it's the best in the world which is just laughable. It's so tied in games of getting ahead and money that it tends to be the best manipulator may win. It's not a coincidence that rich people get off from crazy solid cases with a good lawyer team all the time.

On a side note 6 years isn't that long in the scheme of things but when I got out for the first few weeks it freaked me out how fast cars were, not going past but as a passenger because in the whole six years the only vehicle I'd been in was a sweat box between prisons 3 times that go about 30 mph

I have a feeling someday cannabis will be federally legal like alcohol and tobacco, and that people who own guns will also be able to smoke weed in peace. I've put a lot of thought into whether I want to keep my liberty to use medical marijuana, or quit smoking so I can protect myself and my family. I know plenty of people who do both but for me the potential downside of years in prison for being a prohibited person as well as having to commit perjury on the federal forms is not worth it. I use weed daily, I've only shot a gun 3 times at my buddies house in a different state, for fun. I feel like the chances I'll need to use a gun one time vs the 100% certainty I will be smoking weed every day doesn't make sense for me to get a gun until it's federally legal to do so.
It's a shame that even legal cannabis users can't own guns legally.
