Capcom really nailed the Disney platformers. Tailspin, Maui mallard and Mickey’s magical quest were also great. Didn’t they also do the Beauty and Beast, SNES Aladdin and Lion king games or only some of those?
@StewNWT SNES Aladdin for sure! Was Mickey's Magical Quest NES? I remember an SNES Mickey game that was based around fairy tales I think. There was another one where the opening stage was Steamboat Willy themed.
@@StewNWT Oh ok, I don't think that's one of the ones I played then. I played Aladdin a bunch though- those magic carpet levels were tough! As a kid at least, haven't played it in decades at this point lol
I screamed internally every time he left treasure/money behind. Like, how could he? 😅 With these old games you don't just beat them, it's how you beat them.
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and I appreciate the skill you bring to playing a lot of the classic difficult nes games. (not necessarily this title) It's refreshing especially when it's your first experience playing some of these games.
Still have my NES copy that my cousin gave me since he was more into SNES back in the day.R.I.P cousin thank you for all the great memories.I just play this game for memories sakes.Along with Batman(NES) and Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2.
This NES version has 3 different endings Bad,Good,Best. And it's based on the money. If you get 0 on final boss it's bad. If you get some 5 million you get good ending and best is 7 millions if i remember right.
Best Ending is $10,000,000+. There are 2 secret treasures for 1 mil each and then you can go to launchpad in 3 of the areas and go back and replay and keep all your money from the first time. Also if you go to him and say yes when you have a 7 in the 10,000's digit, you get to go to a gem land in the clouds and collect up to $180K (which isn't really that much but it's a fun experience) and Gyro's there dropping the money down.
@@dangerkeith3000 I 'm pretty sure you can use Launchpad in 4 of the areas. Launchpad isn't in Transylvania cause he's too scared to go there, but you can find him in all the others.
Good run! This game is short and sweet! It actually was the first video game I ever played as a kid but it was a struggle back then. I did play this quite a bit, though. So, if you meet a certain cash total, you actually get the "best" ending. I'm pretty sure the hidden treasures are _required_ to get it, too. Also, I think you can get a 2nd HP upgrade in the Himalayas for a total of 5 HP.
To be fair, most old platformers were short and sweet. They made up for it in difficulty and/or different endings for certain achievements. Ninja Gaiden is a pretty short game, but we all know it's legendary difficulty. Ducktails is not nearly as difficult, but it's not an easy game either, if you're playing it for the first time - especially as a kid. Many old school gamers have been complaining for a while that platformers have gotten too easy. And then Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze came around sending little kids into rage quitting. And the games aren't even THAT hard. 😂 The original trilogy was still considerably harder. It took me years to complete Diddy's Kong Quest as a kid. Still one of my favorite games to this day. ❤
Loved this game... I remember getting it on release. Great to see younger generations still playing these games, and not only that.... but mastering them.
Such a blast from the past, man. Pure nostalgia. And the new (well, by now a couple of years old) ducktales cartoon even has some references to the game! In one episode Scrooge uses his pogo cane and in another one Della Duck sings a lullaby with the moon theme as melody. I had such a nerdgasm when I heard her sing that song.
I'm so happy to see you playing this game. This was the very first game cartridge that I purchased as a kid with my own money. My dad was pretty proud that my 7 year old self was determined to save up $50 for this game, which I then was not able to beat until over a decade later... NES was ruthless.
Dude... this was my second favorite NES game behind SMB2 back in the mid 80s. I still hum the music to myself when doing menial chores. I'm gonna play it after i finish watching this. Thanks, Ryu, for a stroll down memory lane. :)
I highly recommend trying out "Darkwing Duck" or "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers" on the NES as well. They both were similar to Ducktales in that they are pretty short and sweet Disney games.
Wtf THAT was the final climb chase?! I had vivid memories of it being an extremely epic, long climb that came down to the wire... I am forever changed...
Classic game. I remember getting the Gameboy port for Christmas. Sometimes the Gameboy versions were very different from the NES versions, but it looks like it was a 1:1 port.
Ryu, you should totally check out an old super famicom platformer called Magical Pop'n when you get a chance. It's incredibly English friendly and a great game, just throwin' it out there :p
Some of the games I played a lot as a kid were Snake Rattle n Roll, Trog, Rampage, Puss 'n Boots, and Kung Fu on the NES. There's also Rygar and Bionic Commando if you haven't played those. Most of what I played on SNES and Genesis are pretty well known except for maybe Shadow Blasters or Biohazard on Genesis. Also if you like combat racing there's the Road Rash series and Rock n Roll Racing
According to nomenclature, I'm a Gen-X sub-set called a Xennial, being as I was born in 1976. Duck Tales was the dividing point between us and our younger siblings of the same era
"Snake Rattle n Roll" (NES) for the Win Please! Also the Euro MegaDrive version has insanely tough extra stage! Debunk! GGs though, Love the Content, keep it coming!
as for other games to play, it's kind of easy, but just like DuckTales a great game to play: Felix the Cat on the NES, you won't game over, and can beat it in around an hour? you might want to emulate this one though, as a loose cart is around 100 US dollars.
Really interesting to see this game with its obvious gameplay similarities to the later Mickey Mouse games on the Sega Master System. I would love to see some shadow mask effect or similar applied to footage of these (especially) 8 and 16 bit titles, to make them look more like they did when we played them back then on the screens of the time. The unbroken color blocks of modern screens really do these old graphical designs no favours, they never looked like this.
I remember that is struggeling so Hard as a kid fighting this bosses. And now it's seems so easy... man my 10 year old me, would have hated you for playing so good.
This game along with Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers were part of my after school curriculum

The money actually changes which ending you get as well as what hidden treasures you find. Sad to say ryu missed way too much to get the good ending
9:00 "The bird lady".
I mean, technically they're ALL bird people.
Except the Beagle Boys
"I didn't mean to duck" lol 😂
9:12 😁
i was searching this comment, and he didn't even realize xd

9:13 calling Magica De Spell "The Bird Lady," when Scrooge is literally a bird man 😂Never change, dude!
Launchpad McQuack! I can hear him saying "Gee, Mr. McD!"
ty sir
he was better in darkwing duck
Ryu if you find all the treasure you get the best ending if you you got the decent ending in your game

Pogo Stick? All these years I thought it was just a cane! 🙃
The remake was absolutely fantastic. Great voice acting that matches the original show and expanded bosses and story.
played it on my gameboy back in day. sometimes i hid under my bed sheet and just listened to the music 🤩

my guy still finding cheese in an NES game lol this is why i subbed to you in the first place Ryu
There's a metal remix of the moon music. Awesome track.
You know sometimes I think Life is like a hurricane and then I come here to relax watching a Let's Play!

23:06 - Best advice for 2024!
Wow, I had the Xbox360 remaster of this game, I had a lot of fun going through all of the levels, interesting to see how the original plays out.
Nothing beat the thrill of these games as a kid seeing all the other random characters they we all grew up with and loved.
Great video. Classic game. This was one of the only NES games I could beat back in ancient times. Beat this one on a rental which was unexpected.
This was a weekend rental for me as a kid if I was lucky and absolutely loved it. Just like Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers. Woo oo! 🎵
I vote for Jackal.
An NES classic that nobody talks about.
18:06 fun fact, there is a count duckula that is a spin off from danger mouse, which is not part of the duck tales universe
Love this game! This and Chip and Dales were my happy lazy childhood Sundays. Lots of hidden secrets in Ducktales.
"how do you get by him" *forgets cane swing almost all of the time xD* he's just like me fr
Enjoyed the vid, laughed when you said Gizmo died as he dropped into the pit 😂
I used to have the Gameboy version of this! So much nostalgia!

I played the nes version then the remastered. Love duck tails.
I used to love playing through this game as a kid. I can't even remember how many times I beat it!
Ducktales is definitely one of my favorite games of that era.
Launchpad mcquack is the pilot and bird lady is called magica da spell
Great choice, but I thought we would be finishing the Demon game, especially right before Halloween!!!
👻🎃
Omg the music on the game 😮
I’ve heard a lot of this music before and didn’t know it was from this game. Neat!
I had this on the GB as a kid. I always thought the gems/diamonds were ice cones.
Heeeeeey got this game as a kid but never finished it. Great game BTW. Glad to see ya playing it Ryukahr.
Crazy, I'm home with my sick 3 year old and we are watching duck tales right now
What a beautiful game. I played this and TMNT so much!
One of my favorite shows and games as a kiddo.
i feel like it should be mandatory that every time you say duck tales you need to follow with a woo oo
Glad you were able to breeze through one of the games yah really like :)
Yay! I love this game. I was hoping this would come up in retro games!
Oh sweet childhood memorys. I remember so much of this game. Not so much of the remastered version 😅 It's crazy
Wow. Vgrpod just covered this game too!
One of my top 5 favorite NES games.

Nice! Let see you beat ADVENTURE ISLAND 2 on the Nes. Love your videos 🎮🎃🎮👊🏾

I was going to be upset when you were skipping the Moon stage, I love the song from it so when you went back I was jamming in my living room
I played this a lot when I was a kid.
Launchpad McQuack.
OMG Finally this game!!!! Thank you Ryu
You should play Actraiser on SNES it's a platformer/god simulator game. They recently remade it for the Switch
The transylvania stage music sounds like it could fit into MegaMan X3
10:02 wait a minute... that sounds just like the level clear music of classic MegaMan. Is this capcom?
Launchpad McQuack is the helicopter dude
I love the retro playthroughs!!
If you wana get the best ending to this game you need a ton of cash the boss collectibles help a lot

There was something I never realized in this game. You get game over and there's no continues! 😂
had to watch the guy who runs out of breath during normal speaking play duck tails lol
Good ol Launchpad McQuack who also appeared on Darkwing Duck
