What Madonna album should I react to next? You can find a list of the Madonna albums I've reacted to below. The only thing I miss in his reactions is that he doesn't really show or say if he liked the song or would listen to it again. I really wanted to know his personal opinion besides the analysis
As mirwais said when the album released, it's categorize as "world music". Madonna said in interviews that Madame X it's sorth of continuation of American Life, expanding the message not only for USA, but all leaderships around the world. And for me, as brazilian, she is influenced by all portuguese countries. You can see a brazilian carnival instruments in Faz Gostoso, Portugal fado in Crazy/Killers/extreme occident, and the Batuka by Cape Verde. I'm glad that you like this album, because many people don't understand the message
Madame X is a masterpiece. The best reaction that gives justice to Madonna’s piece of art. Some fans didn’t like it because it wasn’t a poppy, bubblegum album. Madonna has accomplished so much musically and lyrically through the decades. As a hard core Madonna fan, I love all her albums/soundtracks/greatest hits/dance mixed albums. But I have my 5 fav albums & songs: 1. Ray of Light 2. Confessions on a Dance Floor 3. Like A Prayer 4. Erotica 5. Madame X My fav M songs: 1. Paradise (not for me) 2. Easy Ride 3. Frozen 4. Like A Prayer 5. Hang Up The best reaction made of Madame X, it’s yours. I hope you continue covering Madonna’s music legacy. Thank you 😎
God Control is a masterpiece and this whole album is literally what’s happening around us. Madonna’s career has, in many ways, been warning us of the disaster that’s about to happen if we continue to ignore the signs around us. We are currently perilously close to catastrophe... in America it’s a hair’s breath away from the fall of democracy. I wish Madonna would be recognized for the artistry and brilliance she deserves. I feel her next album should be called Cassandra. She’s seen the future, she’s warned us, but no one’s listened to her and she suffers as a result.
Finally enough Love! You made it to Madame X. This is honestly one of Madonna’s best albums, and the one I find my self going to most these days. She was inspired by all the music she was exposed to after moving to Lisbon during the aftermath of 2017 presidential election. So It’s a global album that incorporates so many different styles of music. Like you noted, I love how the album starts off with Medellin, with madonna singing “Ven conmigo, let's take a trip” preluding the musical and cultural journey she is about to take us on. From disco, fado, art pop, arabic ginwa music, house, trap hop, reggae, batuque, a quirky take on classical music, reggaeton and more. They all mix so seamlessly and sound like they belong in the same album. God control is an album highlight I’d like to note. Even tho message is clear, there are a lot of layers in how she conveys it. The way she delivers the song’s opening lines feels like her mouth is forced shut, while in the end she whispers the same verse, all eluding that sometimes it feels like you can’t speak this truth. Ironically lyrically she is saying “everybody knows the damn truth”. Also sonically it’s so layered! The strings swirling so frantically giving it a sense of urgency, the choir lamenting the loss of gun control. All being incorporated into a disco track, now that’s brilliant! Dark ballet is another amazing song. You’re spot on that it was inspired by the story of Joan of ark. But I think what Madonna is saying here is that her story is still relevant today because of the dance or “game” so many minorities have to play in this world to survive. How people outside societal norms are vilified for standing their ground. It’s quirky, dark yet comical and bizarre in the best way possible. Another incredible track is Batuka, which like you mention is inspired by batuque music which originated in Cape Verde. The slave trade has strong roots there and the drums would be taken away by the church from these women as it was viewed as an act of rebellion. In the song madonna is singing with the actual batukadeiras orchestra. And it feels like a rebellion in response to todays issues. It was incredible seeing it live with all the batukaderias on stage, such an female empowerment moment. I could go into so much more detail and talk for hours about all the music, lyrics and tour, but I cant fit that all in here haha. It’s madonna being as bold and experimental as ever and I love it. You have to react to the music videos from this era too. Specifically God control, Dark ballet and Batuka. And in terms of which album to react to next I would love to see your reaction to some early madonna, Perhaps True blue or her first self titled album.
Most people think this is the worst Madonna's album. But, they don't understand all the meanings behind each track. I'm happy that you notice all of them and conclude that is a great album, based on the versatility of the entire album. Thanks for your analysis. You always have the most convincing arguments. ❤️ #GodControlisthebest
nah....MX got her some of her best reviews by critics to date. It was hailed as a daring album where she is no longer trying to chase hits. I think it's phenomenal
Some backstory for the musical stylings of the album, Madonna lived in Portugal for a few years and was introduced to the local music scene by a friend she had made there. She saw the Batukadeiras perform and recorded them for Batuka and the rest of the album took off from there!
So glad to hear one my favourite albums getting the praise it deserves. I really enjoy your reactions. You always bring a relevant point of vue that makes me think and appreciate the music even more. Thank you!
H.O.L.Y. F.U.C.K. WHO. ARE. YOU? You can’t see this, but I am giving you a standing ovation right now. At 51 years of age, Madonna has been the soundtrack to my life and never have I seen such an insightful analysis of her work. You’ve definitely carved out a very distinctive niche for yourself. Unique amongst the rest. Just like the lady herself. I can’t wait to discover your other explorations of her and other artists. I’ve just subscribed and look forward for what’s to come....
I really like your analysis because you truly listen to the music and lyrics instead of screaming around. That is why you really understand Madonna's music. Thank you!
Absolutely love this album.. Over time it reveals more and more with repeat listens.. Very bold and creative in it's ideas and production.. One of her most experimental and rewarding records ❤️
I loved Madame X. A concept, idea, emotiont. Was it all successful? No. But the sum of it's parts hold together and tell a great sonic story by using emotion to paint the picture.
Madonna is a mature artist creating innovative pop music from a mature perspective. That is why this album is so groundbreaking and unparalleled in so many levels. After so many years creating new things at some point you will step into the unknown.
Eric, I watch a ton of Madonna interviews every so often and I KNOW she absolutely hates when journalist don't actually *hear* the album, they don't do their homework, they fail top make connections. By contrast, I think Madonna should see your series! She would feel so vindicated and seen! Your analysis is so smart, thoughtful, even insightful to someone who is a superfan! I'm like "daaaaaaammmnn, Eric's right! why didn't I see that?" :P great job buddy.
Also i forgot to add: you need to watch madame X music videos! They are one of the bests and with amazing storytelling and production. The songs make much more sense with them
She still delivers after 4 decades in music. I love this album!!! And I was at her Madame X show in Lisbon, which was fantastic, because the atmosphere of the city was very well alive in the coliseum theatre.
This is the best review of MadameX I've seen so far. You're insight into each track and such precise interpretation is what this album deserved. Most people just overlooked the ambition and complexity of this album.
This was so interesting. Your thoughts on Extreme Occident and how you linked the song with her past songs were on point. It's funny because Madonna lived 2 years in Portugal when her son David was scouted to play soccer there, and she wrote that song, and most songs on the album while living there, feeling completely isolated and alone, in a foreign country full of strangers, not knowing the language. She felt so lonely and out of place that she had an identity crisis and started to think about her past, and how she changed so much after Ray of Light, thinking of herself as someone lost looking for her path, and realizing she actually wasn't lost. But most of all about reclaming herself saying "I was happy before, I wasn't lost, I had a personality, I was myself". To me Extreme Occident is Madonna looking at her old self thinking "what happened to you? Why did you change?" To me it's a very nostalgic and tragic song.
Extreme Occident, you need to bear in mind Madonna is recognized by Ivy League universities as a scholar of Oriental Philosophy. She is an Orientalist.
This is such a coherent, well thought out, thorough review. I loved hearing your thoughts about it and pretty much agree with you. I love this album exactly for the reasons you have said - bold creativity. Thanks so much for reviewing this and can’t wait to see more and explore more of your channel.
I love watching you bop along to the the tracks, seeing your eyes react when the lyrics or music surprise you, your adorable smile and then, above all, your eloquent, intellectual and very natural responses to what you've heard. I really appreciate that you never say anything negative, you just appreciate and analyze and are very respectful of the music. You are a very smart, caring and appreciative guy and I really respect that :)
I concur. It’s nearly jarring, the intellect, articulations, and insight coming from what appears to be such a young man. I hate to sound condescending, but it’s as inspirational as it is impressive.
Great review of this masterpiece. The album can be seen in a big canvas at the Madame X Tour. There, it all made sense. Explode your senses and take you on a world journey looking for humanity and love. Your review was on point and dont think Madonna will object that. You closely described the Madame X Tour ... awesome job!
I love this album and It seems that all the changees she's talking about it's coming now. It's a hopeful album. I also enjoyed how she use the three languages. When she sings in portuguese is magical, you can feel everything she's feeling (Killers Who are parting is my favorit). Your pronunciation of "faz gostoso" was correct. You should learn portuguese. As you speak spanish, It world be easy. I love your videos too. Greatings from Brazil!
Amazing analysis as usual! In my opinion this album is ahead of its time! It's, bald, experimental, raw, diverse, I love it. Many fans dislike it. I guess in a couple of years from now it will be appreciated as it should. Love this reaction! Thank U!
I don’t think many fans do dislike it. People see a few comments but honestly from the fans I’ve only heard overwhelmingly positive reviews. The album is loved now more than it was a year ago. We need to start acknowledging and celebrating this. A big win for her discography
Maybe do True Blue next... it’s so beautiful and I think you’d love it. It’s very fun but also pretty good to analyze. I would actually really like to see you react to any of her first three albums.
You seem to link a lot of this album to American Life, and i agree. Apart from the themes, both albums were co-produced by Mirwais so there's a musical link. Also, both albums were recorded at a time Madonna has left the US (in AL she was in London, for Madame X she was in Portugal), so she was more analytical of the "american life style" Hopefully you'll do True Blue or Rebel Heart next (both REALLY different).
This was the best Madame X reaction I’ve watched. You’re so good at these! Madame X is def a bold album and it’s one I’ve surprisingly been revisiting a lot on occasion. Kudos! I recommend Rebel Heart (Deluxe Version!!!) next. :)
Mr. Eric! I accidentally stumbled upon you and I watched 2 of your reactions to Madonna but I didn’t subscribe, I did now. You’re a young brilliant man and you reminded me of myself when I was younger. Your analysis is very open, brilliant, intelligent. Very impressive! I have no idea how old you are but you’re an old soul. This album was crucified by most. Only a few understood this was a global synopsis of beats, sounds, lyrics for the world. It was truly a global album, very experimental but brilliant. Yes a few songs could have been more commercial but I don’t think that was Madonnas focus on this project. It’s very global, intellectual, different. Keep up the great work, I hope your channel grows tremendously but it will be a challenge. You’re smart, handsome, young but not all will get you. Keep moving forward, excited to see another one.
Madame X: The most expérimental álbum made by Madonna. She’s showing to us a new meaning of World Music with this interesting mix of cultures within this album. Portugal was a beautiful sort of inspiration for the esthétic. I would wish alittle bit less of vocoder and autotune in the production An amazing album with beatiful messages Thank again Éric ! ❤️
The different sound of this album make sense because Madonna was living in Portugal and was exposed to different Iberic artists. This heterogeneity gives this album it's unique sound.
Exactly! I've been living in Lisbon for a year and a half and I totally understood where madonna took those "weird" sounds they america does not understand
I love your analysis of Madame X. This is an amazing album . I really don’t understand why most of her fans didn’t like it. The album celebrates life and culture.
Such an underrated album. It has so many powerful messages. It’s a journey. Especially when you see the Madame X tour it kind of makes the songs make sense a bit more. In my opinion, Madonna has never made a bad album. People just have to look past ‘wanting her to make generic dance music’
This is one Madonna's best albums! Political, bold and unapologetic mixture of different music styles and themes. Very artsy but entertaining. Not always easy to access but you can still feel how she bears her soul. There is a song for every mood. At this stage of her career she could have played it safe but she didn't! I only wish this record and all the amazing videos would have had more recognition that it deserved.
Thank you for another entertaining watch! As always your review is thoughtful and insightful. Couldn't agree more on this record, and to me personally the best thing about it is that it comes from an artist ending her fourth (!) decade in music (being a pop artist essentially, no less). I mean, appart from Bjork and perhaps last David Bowie's album, how many artists do we know who came out sounding fresh after so many records? I really think it's a feat on its own. For your next reaction I'd suggest you go all the way back to True blue (1986). You reacted to some of her best works and some if not most of them leaning away from mainstream. Perhaps it would be good if you gave yourself a context what made her the most popular female artist to begin with.
Your head bopped "to the far right" then it went "to the far left". I love how you were in deep thought at moments to being pleasantly surprised moments later--what a range in facial expressions too.
awesome review! Thank you ! It’s a such a shame that so many people - even fans- close their eyes and don’t or can’t appreciate the efforts on this album
What a treat to find this review! You did an excellent job referencing past motifs, musicality and of course herstory of the Icon herself. I am really, really encouraged by your respectful reviews and adorable eyes. 💗 🎶 🤓
Dear Eric, You are something rare and special. Your videos are something quite unique in the context of UA-cam. Each one isn't full of "I love this" and "I hate that", and "watch me miming along to this song". They come across with a quiet gentleness totally at odds with many other UA-camrs, who seem only to want everyone's attention focused on them, literally screaming "look at me! how great am I?!!" Your thought-provoking analysis, almost always cutting very quickly to the heart of each song or music video, is inspiring and extremely entertaining to watch. I wonder whether you would consider presenting a Q&A video with questions from subscribers, where you might discuss questions like the ones below, so we could get to know you, and therefore the context of your analysis, a bit better. * Where were you born? * What state do you live in? * How old are you? * What gave birth to, and nurtured, your love of music and images? * Do you sing yourself? * What is your education history (school, university, degrees, etc) * What is your desired career path? * What are your life goals? * Where does your altruistic streak come from? * What inspired your obvious love of analysis? * How were you introduced to Madonna? * How were you introduced to Bjork? * How were you introduced to Kylie Minogue?
Another amazing reaction fron you!!! This album should have got at least a Grammy nonimation but they think she is too old for that...such a shame! All the videos fron this albuns are amazing and you should check them out. Rebel heart is also a very good album in my opinion, try that next.xxx
The great thing about the record is that Madonna mixed her conventional style with everything she had contact with in Portugal. Batuka is related to Cape Verde, a former Portuguese colony, the same is true of Funk do Brasil, which was also a colony of Portugal, and that is why the culture of these countries are very connected. Spanish music is also very strong in Portugal, after all they are neighbors of the Spanish. Come Alive has many Arab influences from North Africa, also due to the geographical proximity and cultural exchange with Portugal. And Killing Who Are Partying is "Fado", the most famous style of Portuguese popular music. Crazy is played to the rhythm of the Portuguese accordion. In general, the album is completely influenced by sounds typical of Portuguese-speaking countries.
Rebel heart deluxe next. It has 19 songs so you might split it into 2 videos. Imo, it's lyrically Madonna's best work since Ray of light. Also, I recommend listening to Whitney Houston's discography. I'd start with her classic debut and go forward from there. She doesn't have the most lyrically complex music but her voice is otherworldly. I really want your reaction on her 2002 album "just Whitney" because that album was unfairly dismissed by critics just like American Life and Erotica and I want to see someone with a fresh mind like you listen to it. Your reactions are amazing. I love how you connect lyrics to past works of an artist.
A love it or hate it album for fans. I personally think its a masterpiece and it sits in the second position of my favourite Madonna albums. It's textured, ambitious and multifaceted... a real genre hopping journey...sounds sublime on vinyl.👌 I applaud her for making the records she wants to rather than a camp disco/dance/pop record that alot of fans seem to beg for, she's a true artist.
I don't get why so many people (including Madonna fans) hate on this album. It's a very creative and risky record. I guess people just wanted another trashy dance/pop album like MDNA. It's great to know that after all those years she still re-invents herself and tries something new
Jesus you’re analysis is amazing I’ll be checking the rest of your reviews tomorrow. Well done. This is how it should be done. You got me liking Bitch I’m Loco which I’ve always overlooked.
I totally enjoyed your reaction! Hope you keep reacting cause you don't make me feel uncomfortable like other reactors and you introspectively catch the behind of every song, lyric, mix and emotion! Madame X came to my life when my spirit was teaching me and showing me things about all that she sings, opression, violence, all those unnatural bestial wild things about the 'system', if she'd continue with a Madame X Volume 2 i would love it
Please react to Hard Candy and thank you for your thoughtful reactions! Madonna described Madame X as a continuation of American Life so that gives a glimpse of where she is at lyrically. I love how she tackles everything from gun control to human rights. She continues to evolve as an artist with a message and I love Madame X. I think in the years to come people will see what a gem this album truly is. She touched upon so many musical genres from reggaeton to fado to Brazilian funk etc. No one does it like the Queen.
Wow what a great review of a awesome album!! Love all your Madonna reactions. Madonna is my Queen but so is Fiona Apple. I’d love to have you review her albums. I think you would love her music.
Thank you, Eric, for a thoughtful review! It is a bold album on many levels. All the songs are so different from one another, something I appreciate more with every listen. With regard to 'Dark Ballet' and 'God Control,' especially, I like to consider these two songs rhapsodies not only for their respective episodic and free-flowing structure but for their stark shifts in mood and tone. I guess one could say Madonna had her "Queen" moments in this album. 'Madame X' is on parr with 'American Life' in terms of a political statement and sheer enjoyment, but second to 'Ray of Light' in terms of artistic growth and musical breakthrough.
I loved your analysis! I have so many thoughts on this album. The album really unfolded its full meaning on the Madame X Tour. I feel like this album is about activism and oppression on a global, cultural and personal level. The many different styles she took for this album originaly grow/ developed under oppression. The very present use of autotune on this album is in my opinion a way to step back from cultural appropriation. She doesn't try to be part of any culture or make it HER style. She gives the style, the culture and the people she worked with the room they needed. It's a respectful step back and an obvious separation from everything else that's going on in the songs. I don't think Killers Who Are Partying is about what she would do if she sees somebody who is oppressed right now because that would be little hypocritical but more about what she would do if she was president. Fado, Batuque, Gnaoua, Reggea, Reggeaton, Disco, Samba, Hip Hop and House beats are all anchored in very specify historical and cultural contexts. They're /were inter alia ways to deal with oppression altough they seem to find their way to the mainstream... so in my opinion it's very clever that Madonna didn't made the step to go fully mainstream. Instead she found other ways to give it a turn. Like in Faz Guztoso when she gave the song a break to bring it back to it's roots. She gives the audience a trip around the world but also a trip into her personal life which was often located in New York City (for example represented by the house beats which are mostly used in the ballroom scene). For me its not an album which was made to sound good but an album that wants to be understood.
Do the I'm Breathless album next, is Madonna introduction to the 30's and 40's music and includes Vogue! You need to do it. Such a pitty that you didn't listen to this album completely. Ciao Bella is a gem. Funana is also great. BUTB not my favorite but still listeneable. Definitely your next ones must be True Blue and Evita. Then Madonna, Hard Candy and MDNA remain lol. Just watching all of your Madonna videos and they're great!
To me it’s a genius album. It might not be her best best but it’s up there. People say as you get older you make your best albums as you have free reign on everything and not care about the charts etc. Madonna has done everything, she has nothing more to prove.
This is one of my favorite Madonna albums ever... And one of the greatest from this past decade. How much spirituality, topics that need to be talked about, and the mix, the music and the feeling that each instrument transmit to every song is just too much for some people. Also, the theatrical context of the songs, that tell a story themselves. An album for the person that wants to be touched... Not everybody can understand all this. Batuka, Come Alive Extreme Occident.. God Control, Dark Ballet.. Is just so much cultures and music from other places, and the way it was used is just genius. Queen of pop. I saw her at BAM on September 18th, 2019, the BEST CONCERT EVER. Also my peeps, if you want, you can check out my new single "Damelo" (Give it to me), dominican music mixed with urban sounds. ffm.to/ferbbruno
Now I can’t stop thinking about you enjoying some funk carioca in a sweaty nightclub 😂😂 You pronounced faz gostoso very well btw. Funk used to be (still is) a very marginalized music style in Brazil, so it also fits the album narrative. You should listen to some Brazilian music (been waiting decades to ask for it lol).
It's time for some visual reactions. It would be amazing if you react to this videos. This era was everything. I saw her in.L.A, and it was the best night of my life.
Thank you again for this. Great analysis. The way you really listen to the music and lyrics and express your thoughts is mind blowing to me, with all due respect I’m in love with your brain 🧠.
My favorite songs on this album are Come Alive, Crave, Faz Gostoso and Future. I appreciate the messages in the songs but melodically and musically I'm not too keen on the other songs. Great reaction and analysis as always. Happy Thanksgiving!
I have been watching UA-cam reaction videos for years and years, but only now found the perfect one! Your intelligent and insightful analysis of the albums and their lyrics has simply put blown my mind! The comprehension of "the whole" is spot on and I cannot believe you have not heard the records before - you seem to understand them instantly. And that makes me think that you are simply a perfect looking A.I. that has been programmed to have a higher understanding of everything :D I hope you get billions of followers, I wish internet had more people like you - honest, humble and humane. Oh, I sound like a complete fanboy, but hey, this time I am willing to be one - that smile can lift anyone´s spirit
@@ericmason6540 Awesome, cannot wait to see you doing that :) Or anything else as a matter of fact, you´re absolutely the best thing 2020 has had to offer :D
I wonder if you've listened to Let Them Eat Chaos by Kae Tempest? Incredible album. It'd be interesting to hear your poetry editor thoughts (if you haven't heard it then I hiiiiiighly recommend listening all the way through without pausing).
OK, but when ya gonna get to Boys for Pele? :-D Just teasing...kind of. I actually enjoyed Madame X and appreciate Madonna's relative experimentalism. As I often do, I find a lot of her lyrics to be a bit tactless and ineloquent, but musically, it's a departure for her even in consideration of the variety of genres she has played with in the past. The song structures are more adventurous than ever. It's the sort of creative work that I would generally expect to prove over time to be a stylistic experiment that bridges what the artist mastered in the past and is just beginning to contemplate. (I'd say that American Life might be considered one of these types of works, as well.) Perhaps a future effort will show that she learned something from having made Madame X, digested those lessons for a few years, and then was able to better manipulate them to make something more meaningful later on. I appreciate when artists do this. The last thing I want from Madonna is another soulless stunt duet with a currently hot pop star in an attempt to chart. This is a more respectable direction.
@@ericmason6540 Ha...no worries. Do what you're interested in doing. I look forward to your reaction because, to be honest, I really enjoy watching people who are not familiar with Tori Amos respond to hearing her for the first time in real time. For most people, including this one--and she is my favorite artist--she is an acquired taste, and so the initial reactions often give way to very different responses later. Boys for Pele is her most avant-garde album. I don't want to give anything away about it, and so all I will say is that its reputation has gone through a Dionysian process since its release. And then I also look forward to your reaction because of all the "UA-cam reactors" I've seen, you are by far the most sophisticated interpreter of lyrics. The lyrics of Boys for Pele are confounding. Pele is many of her fans' favorite album for a lot of reasons; however, some of her later albums that are less sonically adventurous are very different lyrically, less visceral and more intellectual, and in my opinion equally successful as a whole because of her insights perhaps more than her musical prowess. Pele is a beautiful evisceration of a beautifully grotesque human monster. So she offers a lot that often is overlooked, and Madonna seems to dominate these online reactions, I presume because she's got a big following and converts to a lot of views. I do appreciate her artistry for what it is.
What Madonna album should I react to next? You can find a list of the Madonna albums I've reacted to below. (Also, sorry about the quiet audio on "Medellín"-it should be normal on the rest of the songs.)

Please do her Rebel Heart album next! It HAS to be the Super Deluxe version! Please!
hard candy.
React to Rebel Heart Super Deluxe it has 23 tracks ! I think it's one of her best albums, top 5 for sure
Rebel Heart or True Blue. Beginning of a career vs. decades on.
Rebel heart, super deluxe version!
There's not a single reaction channel on youtube that comes close to yours. You're amazing.
Thank you so much! :)
The only thing I miss in his reactions is that he doesn't really show or say if he liked the song or would listen to it again. I really wanted to know his personal opinion besides the analysis
AjayII is great if you want to be entertained, and his is great if you want to get a better understanding of a song
I'm glad that you like this album, because many people don't understand the message
basically American Life, but not just American
Madame X is a masterpiece.
The best reaction that gives justice to Madonna’s piece of art.
Some fans didn’t like it because it wasn’t a poppy, bubblegum album. Madonna has accomplished so much musically and lyrically through the decades.
As a hard core Madonna fan, I love all her albums/soundtracks/greatest hits/dance mixed albums. But I have my 5 fav albums & songs:
1. Ray of Light
2. Confessions on a Dance Floor
3. Like A Prayer
4. Erotica
5. Madame X
My fav M songs:
1. Paradise (not for me)
2. Easy Ride
3. Frozen
4. Like A Prayer
5. Hang Up
The best reaction made of Madame X, it’s yours.
This album is so prolific. Ciao Bell is anti fascist. What an intelligent queen we have. Ugh. She predicted this year and corona.
Also got chills reading that
Finally enough Love!
All the love for the album in this thread makes me so happy it’s what this album deserves.
Most people think this is the worst Madonna's album. But, they don't understand all the meanings behind each track. I'm happy that you notice all of them and conclude that is a great album, based on the versatility of the entire album.
Thanks for your analysis. You always have the most convincing arguments. ❤️
#GodControlisthebest
Do most people really think that? If they can't appreciate this, then they're not Madonna fans.
No ur thinking of MDNA. That’s considered her worst album and rightly so
@@Sanchordia absolutely agree. ✌️
nah....MX got her some of her best reviews by critics to date. It was hailed as a daring album where she is no longer trying to chase hits. I think it's phenomenal
It's actually one of her best, if not her best.
Some backstory for the musical stylings of the album, Madonna lived in Portugal for a few years and was introduced to the local music scene by a friend she had made there. She saw the Batukadeiras perform and recorded them for Batuka and the rest of the album took off from there!
You are the only one on UA-cam who got this album for what it is....a Masterpiece
I enjoy NateyWeb’s reaction.
I just turned 50 and I feel the same way.
Madonnas link to Batuka is her living in Portugal where she was introduced to the Batuka ladies by singer Dino Santiago.
I really like your analysis because you truly listen to the music and lyrics instead of screaming around. That is why you really understand Madonna's music. Thank you!
Wow ! Your Madonna reactions and analysis are one of the best I’ve ever watched. Keep going !
Absolutely love this album.. Over time it reveals more and more with repeat listens.. Very bold and creative in it's ideas and production.. One of her most experimental and rewarding records ❤️
I loved Madame X. A concept, idea, emotiont. Was it all successful? No. But the sum of it's parts hold together and tell a great sonic story by using emotion to paint the picture.
and given the crude music in the past 10 years, Madame X is very Innovative and None Pretentious.
Madonna is a mature artist creating innovative pop music from a mature perspective. That is why this album is so groundbreaking and unparalleled in so many levels. After so many years creating new things at some point you will step into the unknown.
As a Portuguese die-hard fan I lived to hear Madonna singing in Portuguese and release a Portuguese-inspired album
Thank you so much! :)
Also i forgot to add: you need to watch madame X music videos! They are one of the bests and with amazing storytelling and production. The songs make much more sense with them
Planning on it! :)
Great, also Looking for mercy is about her daughter Mercy
@@ericmason6540 There is also a World of Madame X doc I think you'd enjoy she released last year.
Thank you so much! Your reaction was thought provoking and in depth! I agree that this is one of Madonnas most experimental ventures. One of my faves.
Oh, Eric, you always make my day! ❤️
I was waiting for your face reaction, when she said like a prayer. You didn’t disappoint!
I love your analysis because you're one of the few who appreciate Madonna's messages, songwriting, and art, not just her image.
Marry me
I love your delivery of the line ”And that is how the album ends” at the end of your videos 😏 Although I’m always bummed out as that means it’s over 🙁
I love this album and It seems that all the changees she's talking about it's coming now.
One of her most bold albums. At 61. This late into her career. A genius
Maybe do True Blue next... it’s so beautiful and I think you’d love it. It’s very fun but also pretty good to analyze. I would actually really like to see you react to any of her first three albums.
hear hear! True Blue! Her first original ballads, 50s girl group sounds, and aching heart pop
Wow, i enjoyed listening to your comments. Very deep, and really different from other channels. Thank you for doing this reaction vid!
You seem to link a lot of this album to American Life, and i agree. Apart from the themes, both albums were co-produced by Mirwais so there's a musical link. Also, both albums were recorded at a time Madonna has left the US (in AL she was in London, for Madame X she was in Portugal), so she was more analytical of the "american life style"
Hopefully you'll do True Blue or Rebel Heart next (both REALLY different).
Also... i wasSO looking forward to your reaction during Dark Ballet haha
This was the best Madame X reaction I’ve watched. You’re so good at these! Madame X is def a bold album and it’s one I’ve surprisingly been revisiting a lot on occasion. Kudos!
I recommend Rebel Heart (Deluxe Version!!!) next. :)
Thank you so much! :)
Mr.
I would wish alittle bit less of vocoder and autotune in the production
An amazing album with beatiful messages
Thank again Éric !
One of her best albums.
Such an underrated album. It has so many powerful messages. It’s a journey. Especially when you see the Madame X tour it kind of makes the songs make sense a bit more. In my opinion, Madonna has never made a bad album. People just have to look past ‘wanting her to make generic dance music’
Bravo! That was an amazing review. 😊
Lol love the little body shake for Come Alive at 22:06 😊💕👍
Best song on the album along with Ciao Bella.
Great review! Your connection of songs to other songs on other albums is impressive. I even learned a couple new vocabulary words.😆
Your head bopped "to the far right" then it went "to the far left". I love how you were in deep thought at moments to being pleasantly surprised moments later--what a range in facial expressions too.
Madonna was living in Portugal and working with Portuguese artists, it was a very lovely partnership. She took the artists on tour.
Just binge watched a bunch of these. Eric, you're eloquent, educated, open minded and incredibly handsome.
As a Madonna fan from day one... This album gave me chills...many times. Even better is the tour!
awesome review!
I love your reviews. Great record!
Dear Eric,
You are something rare and special.
* Where were you born?
* What state do you live in?
* How old are you?
* What gave birth to, and nurtured, your love of music and images?
* Do you sing yourself?
* What is your education history (school, university, degrees, etc)
* What is your desired career path?
* What are your life goals?
* Where does your altruistic streak come from?
* What inspired your obvious love of analysis?
* How were you introduced to Madonna?
* How were you introduced to Bjork?
* How were you introduced to Kylie Minogue?
Thank you so much! I'd love to do a Q&A-I'll keep it in mind, maybe for when I react a subscriber milestone or something like that. :)
In general, the album is completely influenced by sounds typical of Portuguese-speaking countries.
again another brilliant review of a Madonna album! great work!
Thank you so much! :)
God Bless you Eric, I enjoyed your review xx
Please don't forget the soundtrack album, I'm Breathless and Who's that Girl.
A love it or hate it album for fans.
I personally think its a masterpiece and it sits in the second position of my favourite Madonna albums.
It's textured, ambitious and multifaceted... a real genre hopping journey...sounds sublime on vinyl.👌
I applaud her for making the records she wants to rather than a camp disco/dance/pop record that alot of fans seem to beg for, she's a true artist.
Madame X is a great album
wonderful analysis. You managed to understand the proposal of this great album
21:10 and The Shirelles!
Thank you so much! I talked about Fiona's new album a few months ago: ua-cam.com/video/pJCozTXk8bo/v-deo.html
ok but the music videos from this era are gorgeous and strong, watch them please
Good job 👌🏻 Best reaction video of this album 🙌🏻
Thank you... Havent seen the video yet. Still thank you!
One of my favorite Madonna albums and my current gym track list.
Great review as always Eric!
Amazing review Eric!! Thank you !
So I have to say, you really hit the nail on the head. Reviewing this such Eloquence and candor. I appreciate this... subscribed! X
Thank you so much! :)
Your face as dark ballet takes a turn was wonderful. New to your channel you obviously no your stuff!
You remind me how much I love this album.
Missed your handsome mug.
I have yet to unbox my CD... I will do it by December. Crazy is the best single for commercial release.
For Dark Ballet you should watch the music video. It will make sense.
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving! :)
@@ericmason6540 You're welcome! My pleasure!
Yes! Hi Eric! 😃
You should react to Rebel Heart. Don't miss that pease of art!
Thank you so much! I plan on taking a look at Madonna's live performances sometime soon. :)
Yes, I love Let Them Eat Chaos! I'll add Kae to my list. :)
OK, but when ya gonna get to Boys for Pele? :-D
Just teasing...kind of.
Also waiting for Pele 😅
Boys for Pele is most likely coming early in the new year. :)
The God Control video is jaw dropping. It’s pretty difficult to watch but very important.
Do all of them ! But my favorite confessions on the dance floor , American life , music , bedtime stories ,ray of light
