Such a nice film! How pretty isn`t the red grouse 🤩 Would love to see it irl sometimes. We also have it here in Sweden but not the same Sub-species though. But an excellent excuse for taking a trip to Scotland then. Greetings from Stockholm
We call them grey crows in Ireland. We don't have any carrion crows here, just grey crows. They're important in Irish folklore as a manifestation of Morrígan, the phantom queen, and associated with the faeries.
Question: are the ouzel and snow buntings from Cairngorm? Planning a trip there and trying to visit best spots for target species, as I'll be with a non-birding partner, and thus have limited time. Thank you.
Hi Shaun, great videos, quick question about the camera and image quality. In some shots the definition is excellent an in others less well defined. Were you using different definitions during capture or is the image degraded by the extent of the zoom ?
Hi there, I'm a bit of a lazy shooter so ALL my footage is shot in just plain auto mode. It's just a well used old bridge camera so yes sometimes it's ok and gets a great shot while in other it's a bit more crappy. There are much newer and better cameras out there now. I believe my model is 6 years old now which is ancient in camera terms. I'm waiting to see what the new Sony RX10 mark 5 well feature before taking to leap to a new camera.
Hi Shaun , thanks for the info. Its good enough for my purposes as a Birder/Enthusiast and you can pick one up for around £250 .... might just do that.
@@internationalnews8356 Look at the Canon SX70 has 4K but no hot shoe for external mics etc however I now use a extender arm under the camera to mount my mic because the mic kept hitting me in the forehead. Lol
I’m not doubting you for a second as I’m still very much learning about bird ID but how on earth can you tell from that footage which is shot so distantly?

Wow, some very good species..!.Surf Scoter, Blue-winged Teal, Pied-billed Grebe, Golden Eagle....excellent !
Superb video! Thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
Glad you enjoyed it I hope as much as I did making it.
Who knew Scotland had such lovely beaches? Of course, I live in Arizona. 😅 Those Eiders we're amazing to watch!!
Just a pity you can't swim you'll die of the cold in seconds. Hahahahaha
@@sferguk1 Ah... Well, that explains the lack of lawn chairs. Not exactly a paradise getaway unless you're a birder 😎👉👉
Thank you for sharing. Lovely views and labelled nicely. I enjoyed it immensely.
Beautiful video.
14:27. I can’t get my head around how birds build giant nests. It always amazes me. 🐯🐯🐯🐯
Very nice ( and no irritating music )
Very True.
2:59 What a find! Congrats mate.
I appreciate the natural sounds and the lack of narration. Thanks!

Yes both occur around the ski centre. Snow Bunts all year round and Ring Os seasonal.
Great storytelling Shaun.
Wind in the mic was a major issue so may buy myself an external mic with dead cat.
I think that's worthwhile as you enjoy the film making side.@@sferguk1
Loch Linnhe: Lots of bird song, very few on camera.

Nice video. The diver is red-throated though.
Which one, can you give me a time in the video it appears please?
@@sferguk1 Hi Shaun, the diver I meant is at 13:55, cheers

What kind of zoom do you use?
Canon SX60 which has a 1365mm zoom. But camera is old now there's much better cameras on the market at the moment.
whoa did you shoot all that with a canon sx60 ? !
Yes I did.
