I do a daily commute to work of 80 miles.. if I cruise at 80mph then I average 39mpg, in local roads I average 27, if I drive like I'm from bradford I average 17mpg hope that helps :)
My S3 puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! (Unless, that is, if my wife is in the car... Then I get, "I HAVE A HEADACHE! STOP DRIVING SO FAST!" Not so many smiles then...;) LOL
Hey bro appreciate it just put a deposit down on a 2014 model S3 so glad you are making videos on the car keeps my occupied until she gets delivered in march 😊 Keep them coming bro
Good vid as usual. Watched all your vids before my new 2017 S3 arrived, and you had me worried re the mpg. Anyways, i just did 188 miles around suffolk a and b roads using only Economy setting and got 39 mpg, so im happy that it can do hi mileage if you dont mind a boring ride for a while.
I have the exact same S3 and covered nearly 6000 miles. I drive 500 miles on motorway every month and I get between 35-38 mph. That's keeping within the speed limit with some aggressive acceleration. Agree the faster you drive the car the more fuel it will drink. I mainly drive in comfort mode.
I think for now the stock exhaust is pretty great, quite a bit louder than I expected, maybe when I get bored ill change it up lol. And regarding personalised number plate, currently have no plans but if the right one comes around who knows!
Sam says: Bit late to this, cos wasn't looking for a motor to replace his old but loved Vectra 2ltr SRi, now he is - and would like to thank you for putting this up. Says he thinks, sadly, the f.bill mayt be a tad high for his pocket.
Hi I've just brought an S3 convertible on a 66 plate ! And your right you don't buy a car like this for fuel efficiency, you buy it to put that smile on your face ! I had an A4 2.0litre cab before that I was getting 35-40 out of with manual gears which I loved to bits ! But my S3 ................. I can't get the smile off my face 😎
I thought it was only my S3 was terrible on fuel efficiency. I guess it's not just mine then. I get like 25 mpg on average. On a full tank I get around 200 to 250 miles depending on driving. However even in efficiency mode I can't get significantly more the 25mpg. It's a massive drop from my Golf GTD. but hey, it's an S3.
I got the pre-facelift S3 and get on average 550 km from a tank, which is about 340 miles. And I'm not driving slow... You are either doing something horribly wrong or your car has problems... Should look into that!
I get like 380 miles a tank (40L) in my 1.2TSI Ibiza FR from 70% motorway driving, the rest mixed/urban. I was debating an S3 but with my annual mileage it's just not feasible, especially after watching this!
Fair play for still shooting the video in those light conditions most other you tubers would of cut most of the clips and parked up much better experiencing the car moving . Like to see a video of pick up and handling.
Terry scott yeah thought I'd just push through and continue, makes it more interesting I agree. And yeah will do a video on that very soon, one of the next ones on the list
Hi Hamza Top Video! You're giving me inspiration to film my Scirocco R, definitely smiles per gallons these kinds of cars. Could you do a video on how you do your filming and some tips and tricks?
I get 15 mpg on my S3 and it's got barely 1000 miles on it and I've been driving it in auto or comfort mode most of the times. I wanna take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it. Basically, I get 180 in a full tank driving moderately. Air conditioning can affect on fuel consumption a lot.
I got 42mpg out of my s3 2014, but I drove in eco mode at 55mph to 60 mph f9r 90 miles. I didn't do it again, boring. Lol. Rs3 is doing about 30 ish so far
I think it's all about driving style and type of driving. I easily get 30+ mpg on motorway journeys in my S3. In London I get about 18 but I do like to put my foot down. If I chilled out and put it in efficiency mode I may get 20. You don't really buy this sort of car for efficiency though, if you're commuting daily then you should definitely not get this car! Also you've got to remember that in the tests they will drive the car at 70 on the dot and avoid any breaking in order to increase mpg stats.
+Anonymouse This is an old video where the car had less miles on it. I now get over 20 driving locally and 40+ if driven on motorways at reasonable pace. But yes driving style is definitely the key thing.
Should put it into efficiency mode and then go on a motorway trip, realistic/mature driving, 80mph seems to be the sweet spot I've seen in every car I've driven
I know a couple of people who consistently manage 43mpg on a run. And are averaging 25-29mpg around town with mixed driving, did you keep to the recommendations during the run in period ?
Must be driving like a spanner to average 18, I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks and averaged close to 30 with a mix of hard driving and normal driving. I get almost exactly 300 miles to a tank
Mileonaire yeah he must be driving like an idiot, I’ve never seen less than 20 no matter how I’ve driven, although in fairness I don’t live in the busiest town. I put mine in individual mode where the suspension and engine are in automatic and the steering and exhaust are in dynamic and I can easily get high 20s
+Lee Daughtrey most of my journeys are very short/frequent on weekdays and the S3 is in dynamic 80% of the time. And yes a 1.6tdi golf, max it did was 290-300 local driving. I have no reason to lie.
my 2004 bora diesel 130bhp gets about 400 miles to a tank all local driving with about £60 of v power. My car has about 137k on the clock so something is definitely wrong with the diesel
I drive on dual carriage everyday 14miles aday. Been thinking of a S3 but wondering about fuel mostly. My current car for last 8 years is a 320d (tuned 226bhp) 14miles a day on duel carriage 50 to 90. Full tank £75 last upto 3weeks 3days. Motorway full tank gives me 680miles. So.....now i am hesitating if can make the sacrifice to get a S3, i dont do much local driving
18 miles/imperial gallon is terrible. For reference, that's 15 miles/US gallon. My 2017 s3 gets almost exactly the sticker estimate. My commute is 70/30 city/highway and I average 24 miles/gallon which is 28.8 miles/imperial gallon. That's mixed spirited driving.
The European test cycle is so off, its not the manufactures fault they have to use it to benchmark against other cars. The "urban" cycle is something like accelerate to a constant speed of 60km/h, then brake. Then repeat 3 times. That is not way near what it should be. The best thing is to check US EPA figures and it will pretty much be that give or take.
My build dates been pushed back frm march to may. And theres not alot of 2017 s3 vids on here. Yours are really enjoyable to watch. A quick question, do your door mirrors automatically fold in, and is there an arm rest in the back??? Just wondering if they come stock or did i have to add them in when i built mine
Yeah I've heard theres been quite a few delays. And thanks man! I realised there weren't too many vids and thought I should change that, will be bringing a lot of content to help with your wait. And yes both folding door mirrors and arm rest in back are optional extras.
fala ahmed .....should of done your homework when specification on your new car. Black edition adds a few specs most ppl like. The BIG downside to factory order is knowing when to stop adding extras as the price soon ramps up. £3-5k is the most you would want to add. Paint/B&O/hold assist/parking sensors/interior led/(mag ride and larger wheels £2k alone)/privacy glass list goes on and on. Enjoy ur new car, don't worry if there's things u forgot to tick
Thanks guys for ur replys Black edition made it even more expensive so didnt go with that. I added in b&o sound system, supersport seats with the red express stitching. Pan roof & tech pack advanced. I assumed folding mirrors would be standard and the arm rest aswel. Ahhh!! They said it would be ready early march at audi, when i checked the progress on audi site the construction date was early may, then jumped to late may. Anyone know if i can add the folding mirrors and rear armrest in as my build dates jumped so far??
fala ahmed ....check with your dealer. They can always add the folding mirrors and through load facility for back seat with arm rest depending how far into the build the car is. Explain that the salesman mis sold ur order and they will bend over backwards to amend order or try and find another car with spec you want!!!
My 2011 S3 gives me 400km (248 miles) on a tank at best.... We are in South Africa though, our fuel isn't the best... I find driving in sport is the same if not better than drive... Take offs use more fuel for a shorter time and ur cruising... Drive jus burns fuel for longer on take off to get u thru the gears and up to speed I think... Didn't trade, decide to keep. But want to get a new car this year. S3 or RS3... is the new RS3 worth the money...
18mpg doesn't seem good at all. I'm averaging right around 24 in mine. That includes sitting in rush hour traffic everyday. I do have the adaptive cruise control so that may help bring that number up.
+S J Evans I think I could get closer to that figure if my daily drive included some dual carriageways etc, but for the most part it's congested inner city driving, rarely see it touch 20
TR Hamza ah true. Most of my trips are dual carriageways or motorways. Rarely do city driving. Awesome car though. Hope you're enjoying it. I went for the Daytona grey 3 door. Can't wait for summer to keep it clean 👌🏻
Yeah that explains it, mine is all congested driving majority of the time, pretty annoying. And thanks mate! Loving it so far, just a pain to keep clean in this weather as you say, especially in black. Yours looks great in Daytona
Sorry, but if you’re driving it like a hot hatch, you’re going to get low MPG. I have a 2014 Audi S3 with an APR Stage 1 tune in Australia...and I get approx 8.5Liters per 100km urban driving, and gets down to 6.7 liters per 100km on highway driving. It’s more economical than my old 2011 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 N/A 😂😂.
mile on a tank are not great, I'm looking at trading my S1 in for an S3 in December but now not so sure as my S1 does roughly 250-260 miles on a tank (Always driving in Dynamic mode)
Wow! that's low MPG, I get 300 miles out of my S3 tank in stop start traffic all the way to work, only difference is its a 2016 model year, not the latest so marginally less bhp.
So, I bought a demo S3 Sportback with 4,5K on the clock. After driving for about 7 weeks it isn't that bad. the best I got on a run was around 46MPG. I can get 360miles per tank (driving normally) P.S does anyone know what the tyre pressures are?
+TR Hamza How are the financial costs in terms of payments if you didn't get it cash. I mean what was the deposit and how much are you paying monthly. Also are you on a PCP or HP. Please do a video on these calculations or you can just reply to this comment. I hope this ain't too personal, if it is then nevermind.
Hello TR. I'm getting about 27 mpg around town with mine - your foot's too heavy mate!!! :-D. On a motorway run recently I got 42.3 mpg - but that was with the cruise control on and set to 60 mph - I know, not fast but I wanted to see how efficient it could be. Come the warmer weather and these figures should improve anyway....I hope. But anyway, it's an S3 and I've spent too long driving 'efficient' cars, now's the time to party!!! All the best, mate.
+ian taf Hey Ian, maybe it is just me haha! I do drive very short local journeys so maybe that's why it's poor, I just love hearing it open up in dynamic. And yeah potentially might get better, but like you said it's time to boot it and enjoy it 👍🏼
+mirin jawbro Depends on your driving, you might get around that. Mine involves very short journeys with stop start driving during the week, with no dual carriageways. But yeah I wouldn't get a TTS for fuel economy, gotta enjoy it
Bro no way ur getting 18pmg and only 180 mile to the tank I get average 13mpg from a 4.4L V8 M5 and that me putting my foot down on every single tunnel I come across. I had a 2.0 MK7 gti that gave me 30mpg maybe more how can u get so less fuel I don't understand
Christ my misses has an s3 cab and get 30mpg but that's on 25 mile motorway trip to work and back, about 330 miles to a tank, driving sensible mind you haha
i have audi a3 3.2 quattro on full tank i get 300miles so this drinks more fuel than my 3.2 quattro ha i get 24mpg round town and on motorway i get 27/30
I average 30mpg from my 18 plate S3, more on the motorway. I didn’t buy it for its fuel economy. I enjoy the car and I don’t mind paying the cost. 18mpg !!! Dude you must have a heavy foot.
Holy shit 180 to a tank lol I would need to fuel up nearly every day two days max! I would love a car like this but with my work travel I could never get one with the miles I do! Shame
Weirdly I think he enjoys telling people his car drinks fuel? I have a mk7 golf r and my best mate has the 2016 s3 we both average 24-25mpg in the city and about 40mpg on the motorway, those of you that worry about the fuel, my golf has seen figures of 45mpg on the motorway, but please remember you don't buy these cars for mpg if your worrying about that, there's the golf gtd an a3 s line
+Petrol Head Haha nah maybe it's just my approach that seems that way, I don't enjoy telling people it uses fuel. I just responded to the people asking what I get, nothing more. Main aim of the video is to explain that if you get a car like this don't worry about fuel economy, just drive it 👍🏼
180-200 miles?! I have an A3 2.0 Sline TDI and I can get 500 miles out of mine! Thinking off getting an S3 but might wait a little longer and earn some more money... Noooo
Try to get a camera that shows a view of the road aswell or pov driving aswell its a bit different from seeing your face all the time (nothing against your face btw lol)
Yeah this was defo something I was thinking about when making this vid, got another camera coming in time for whenever I make my next in-car vid. Thanks for the feedback bro.
WOW you got 260-280 from a golf diesel??.... i get 460ish from my mapped 530d. Anyway you dont buy an S3 for economy and your right it doesnt sound anywhere near as good as the S3 sounds.
I do a daily commute to work of 80 miles.. if I cruise at 80mph then I average 39mpg, in local roads I average 27, if I drive like I'm from bradford I average 17mpg hope that helps :)
Hey im from bradford , we dont all drive like twats lmao
@@Jayyy2023 yeh we do 😆
Yeah we definitely do
My S3 puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! (Unless, that is, if my wife is in the car... Then I get, "I HAVE A HEADACHE! STOP DRIVING SO FAST!" Not so many smiles then...;) LOL
Great video mate, just bought 14 reg S3, glad to hear an honest review on mpg!
Keep up the vids 👍🏼
Hey bro appreciate it just put a deposit down on a 2014 model S3 so glad you are making videos on the car keeps my occupied until she gets delivered in march 😊
Keep them coming bro
+Matty Johnsomn No problem bro, congrats on the new car you'll love it. Got plenty of content coming to make your wait easier 🙌🏼
TR Hamza looking forward to them bro great content 🙏🏼
Would love to have a Cruise together when I get her not long now 😎
Matty Johnsomn thank you bro appreciate it 👊🏼 And yeah that cruise sounds like a plan for sure

Great vid! Will have my S3 on Tuesday. Went for a 3dr manual in black. Really excited!
You won't be disappointed. Enjoy....
+Corey Weir Thanks mate! Welcome to the club you'll really love it, manual 3dr sounds fun 👍🏼
ian taf thanks man!
TR Hamza it will be very fun! Might get around to making some videos of my own, who knows!
Haven't checked them myself but will try to have a look for you pal, does seem very odd that it has happened to yours
Whaaaat? 18mpg? you have to be drinving like you stole it everytime
Highly anticipated, eager to know the efficiency. I'd use this as my reference point for my future rs6 lol..
+Mountain MAN Haha thanks for tuning in mate! If my car does 18mpg your future RS6 will do like 10 lol, worth it though 👍🏼
Are you happy with the stock exhaust and do you intent on getting personalised number plate?
I think for now the stock exhaust is pretty great, quite a bit louder than I expected, maybe when I get bored ill change it up lol. And regarding personalised number plate, currently have no plans but if the right one comes around who knows!

Late comment I got a golf R 7.5 on a run I do 36.9 in around town 18-20. Race mode have fun 14-16
Should I change my 335d 16 reg for a Audi S3?
You say 5k a year, do you drive other vehicles? Or work from home or? New sub bro.
Wow! that's low MPG, I get 300 miles out of my S3 tank in stop start traffic all the way to work, only difference is its a 2016 model year, not the latest so marginally less bhp.
Approaching 9000 TBH its more around 250-270 miles, just filled it up with 65 miles range remaining at 253 miles on the trip since last fill up.
Think he's enjoying it too much! haha
You will love it, enjoy!
I get 22mpg in a f80 m3 around town ~280 to tank
So, I bought a demo S3 Sportback with 4,5K on the clock. After driving for about 7 weeks it isn't that bad. the best I got on a run was around 46MPG. I can get 360miles per tank (driving normally) P.S does anyone know what the tyre pressures are?
+TR Hamza How are the financial costs in terms of payments if you didn't get it cash. I mean what was the deposit and how much are you paying monthly. Also are you on a PCP or HP. Please do a video on these calculations or you can just reply to this comment. I hope this ain't too personal, if it is then nevermind.
ive had lower but also a lot higher than 18mpg in my pfl s3 8v, all depends how you drive it.
Would you buy the S3 second hand?
Great video
make more exhaust sound videos
you already know wassup
+Imad Jr Will make it this week 👍🏼
TR Hamza Thank you Mister Hamza
Greetings from Morocco !
got a manual facelift, get 30 mpg on motorway, and 15 in everything else.
1:48 180 miles to the tank... fucking hell. I can get around 850 - 900 in my - albeit very slow in comparison - 1.6 Ultra..
why dont you do a how reliable is an Audi?
+Lex Us only had car since September 2016, been no issues so far. It would be a very short video lol
TR Hamza did you do any research about how reliable Audi is before you bought it, or did you buy it because of the way it looks and the badge?
And yeah potentially might get better, but like you said it's time to boot it and enjoy it 👍🏼
What do you do for a living
You really drive this car, man..
I don't know how you're not falling asleep doing 18 miles/day on average..
I'm averaging 28 mpg (US gallons) with my 2018 S3. :D
I'm looking at getting a TTS mk3. i was hoping to get around 25 to 28 as A daily. guess not after seeing this
+mirin jawbro Depends on your driving, you might get around that. Mine involves very short journeys with stop start driving during the week, with no dual carriageways. But yeah I wouldn't get a TTS for fuel economy, gotta enjoy it
My mk2 tt 2.0 gets 30 around town. Have had 40 on motorways. But time for an upgrade. Either that or a 435d autovogue
270 diesel golf?!
+free Inner city driving, it has improved slightly since this video but still max 20 mpg. Car will not go higher no matter what I try bro
What litre is it?
Nice vlog, just subscribed to the channel
+Quentin Culié Thank you 👍🏼
Christ my misses has an s3 cab and get 30mpg but that's on 25 mile motorway trip to work and back, about 330 miles to a tank, driving sensible mind you haha
top vlog
+LukSynkGamings ahmed Thanks mate!
18mpg is bad, I have a BMW m140i and I average 29mpg and I rag the tits out of it and it's a 3 litre.. Great vid mate, S3 looks great
u using v power
+AEllis yes
i have audi a3 3.2 quattro on full tank i get 300miles so this drinks more fuel than my 3.2 quattro ha i get 24mpg round town and on motorway i get 27/30
janna graham
Yeah but this would absolutely smoke the N/A 3.2
I average 30mpg from my 18 plate S3, more on the motorway. I didn’t buy it for its fuel economy. I enjoy the car and I don’t mind paying the cost. 18mpg !!! Dude you must have a heavy foot.
Eddie Runcorn dude i need some advice for the audi s3 im going to get could you give us a call 07787079060 cheers bro
Hi TR Hamza, how does the sound system sound like?
Hi mate, I think its pretty decent, good bass and sound quality.
Holy shit 180 to a tank lol I would need to fuel up nearly every day two days max! I would love a car like this but with my work travel I could never get one with the miles I do! Shame
how much does it cost to fill up?
Usually around 60, I use V power so it costs slightly more.
thats really bad fuel economy for a 2.0 turbo hot hatch but if it makes you happy then fair enough 👍
Wow, that fuel economy is crazy bad... I drive the SH** out of my chipped Turbo bug and get 250 or so...
smiles per mile motoring
Yep!
Main aim of the video is to explain that if you get a car like this don't worry about fuel economy, just drive it 👍🏼
TR Hamza couldn't agree more man, it's just 18-19mpg you mention is v8 territory like the 4.2 m3 an r8 an I know this as I also own the r8 haha!
My 2.5 focus ST got 24mpg round town
that's ridiculous fuel economy for a supposed modern engine. my old 330ci was more efficient
DRIVIK? 1:10
C63 AMG 32L/100 KM
i get 440 miles out of my audi a4 2017 reg its diesel but efficient
180-200 miles?! I have an A3 2.0 Sline TDI and I can get 500 miles out of mine! Thinking off getting an S3 but might wait a little longer and earn some more money... Noooo
Try to get a camera that shows a view of the road aswell or pov driving aswell its a bit different from seeing your face all the time (nothing against your face btw lol)
Yeah this was defo something I was thinking about when making this vid, got another camera coming in time for whenever I make my next in-car vid. Thanks for the feedback bro.
Np ✌
WOW you got 260-280 from a golf diesel??.... i get 460ish from my mapped 530d. Anyway you dont buy an S3 for economy and your right it doesnt sound anywhere near as good as the S3 sounds.
+Graham Reid (Grizzle) Yep! Local driving with very frequent short journeys, used to go significantly higher once on a dual carriageway though.
I get 800-1100 km to a tank on my 2004 TDI golf lol
my favourite car but no pan roof
Manual gets 35mpg average most journeys in dynamic. The DSG is a little more thirsty.
