Thank you. I have been a big fan of Josh Groban for years and also of Kelly Clarkson. This is beautiful and both singers are wonderful! Love your comments and thank you for giving us the backstory. :)
I have always loved this song, but this is my favorite rendition. They balance each ither so well. I love the way Josh looks at her when she starts singing, like he's enthralled. Her versatility makes her untouchable. She knows her voice, and takes care of it. Doing so has allowed her to get even better as the years have passed.
Josh groban is legendary, and always performs at the highest of levels. Kelly is a NATIONAL treasure, and can sing ANYTHING , at any time, any day, with anyone.
Great reaction to these wonderful entertainers, Josh and Kelly. Their voices blended beautifully. Thanks for filling us in on the story of POTO too and putting this song in the picture for us.
I've really been looking forward to someone reacting to this duet of Josh and Kelly. I love Kelly and they sound amazing together. Thanks for the react.
Jess I actually saw Phantom years ago at Pantages Theatre in Toronto.. and I never understood the story to the depth of how you described it. This break down and reaction was soooooo good!! Soooo.. thank you .. for once again.. a killer upload from you!!! Oh and Josh... was immaculate as always.. and hearing Kelly's version of this song was magical .. and well kind of expected .. knowing her musical education and training. Your investment in educating us all is priceless. Great job!!! Cheers from Canada ☺🍁
This was beautiful! ❤️ Alot of people dont realize that Kelly has had musical theater training as well as some classical music training and it clearly pays off here. She did a beautiful job. Josh is always fantastic and his timber is rich and soulful and plays to the "Innocence" of Kelly's character of Christine. I loved this duet. This is really a beautiful musical theater production and the set is perfectly designed to put everyone in their feels and to create the romantically seductive mood. Kudos to the set designers on this. Great job to all of their creativity 😃 ❤❤
You should check out the full Stages concert dvd/bluray, the whole thing is beautiful. Also some great BTS stuff with Groban and Clarkson. She wasn't really happy with her performance and wanted to do a few takes, and Groban was joking around that the guy in charge of the fog must be really pissed. So they were appreciating the stage workers as well 🙂
Oh my- its been years since Ive watched Josh Groban/Kelly Clarkson's 'All I Ask Of You' and I got chills- again!!!! lol Kelly Clarkson will always have my heart. Kelly Clarkson & Josh Groban compliment each other so well. Thank you for sharing!
3:00 Thank you for explaining the background story of this song. I've been meaning to get into/watch 'Phantom of the Opera' but I don't know where to start lol. Your explanation is very clear. Thank you
Great video,,, I think she was pregnant here,,,there is another time they sang it ..A home for the holidays, she didn't take the breath:) would love your reaction to that one as well ..HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU :)
I love this pairing of voices for this song from Phantom of The Opera. I have only heard the character Christine represented by a Sarah Brightman type soprano. Kelly Clarkson, a most extraordinary and gifted performer, has created an entirely new interpretation. Exquisite. Josh Groban’s lovely, resonant tenor is always superb. He sings with passion. It is a pairing of artists, I would have never considered, but the phenomenal Ms Clarkson can sing anything, brilliantly!!! The moderator is a wonderful story teller. My suggestion is that she include more music to parallel her narrative. Long spells of talking without illustration will make listeners tune out. The place where sings are interrupted for explanation is crucial. Let the phrasing play out. I love that she is teaching and narrating, that she herself is beautiful, enthusiastic with a pretty voice. This could be a really great you tube program. Thank you! 12/16/23
Fantastic breakdown of the whole story and performance. I really enjoyed listening to this. I've seen Phantom several times, including with the original London cast, and you brought the story alive in very fresh way. Thank you m
You would be correct! The P O T O is, indeed a Broadway musical; not an opera. It surprises me how well these two voices go together. Good for Kelly stretching herself! Great review.
I could rave and analyze as long as Jess with this piece, as I am obsessed with 'Phantom' and compared it with its source material as part of my honors thesis. However, I'll spare the comments section that. Brava as always Jess, this was spot on! The original "All I Ask of You" was our first dance at our wedding so theatrics were on 🥰
Thank you for explaining the back story of The Phantom, I never knew what it was all about - even though I've been to see it twice AND loved it both times! Now I know, thanks Jess!! I'll have to go over it a few times to remember it all though
If the full show version you mentioned was all you had to compare to, PLEASE watch the Royal Albert Hall 25th Anniversary edition from 2011 with Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo...you'll forget any other combination in those roles. The whole show is here to rent on UA-cam and also i believe on Max.
Webber wrote this for Sarah Brightman (who I am not a fan of) thus the vocal gymnastics. Brightman has a huge range, but she's a shouter, not a classic opera singer. Kelly and Josh gave me goosebumps several times and she surprised me with her range. If they did the whole thing maybe they could get me to actually like "Phantom"....Thank you showcasing this excellent performance. Lest I be too harsh on Sarah...I did really like her performance of Nessun Dorma...totally shocked me to hear it in Soprano, but it gave me Pavorotti goosbumps as well.
@@jitkap2334 LMAO! Get the wax out of your ears! Brightman is a pseudo-classical singer with almost no timbre to her voice at all! Her small toneless voice could be likened to a baby wailing! Kelly Clarkson has a gorgeous tone, unbelievable vocal range (extending above high C), astounding dynamic range, complete control of her voice in all registers and is one of the most versatile singers of all time! She also is a master interpreter and can emote very effectively. She's classically trained and would likely sound spectacular sing the role of Christine in it's intended style.
Can you please react to Jessye Norman? Mon Couer souvre a ta voix? the version where her hair is down, and she's a bit older. I know nothing about opera, but I love that performance so I'd like to hear a professional's opinion. thank you
I'm curious as to why Kelly choose to sing in her more "pop" singer voice for this song rather than the more musical theatre style she did for BRIGADOON ua-cam.com/video/sMkVj-qBr8A/v-deo.html
Please comment on Ebben Ne Andro Lontana, from La Wally by Alfredo Catalani as sung by Wilhelmina Fernandez from the movie DIVA and other operatic performances- Renata Scotto , to feature as well as Vissi D’Arte , from Tosca by Puccini as sung by Leontyne Price, Maria Callas, Angela Georgiu and Song To The Moon from Antonin Dvorak’s Rusalka, sung by Anna Netrebko and others; would love to see you include series on Black Opera singers, the men like William Warfield and Paul Robeson. Thank you 12/16/23
I SEE IT AS JUST a rendition of the song from A MUSICAL THAT SHOULD ORIGINALLY BEEN DONE AS AN OPERA IF, IF, IF IT WAS AN OPERA STORY!!!! Although yes. It's a love story too, but still where & who chooses to see it as such, an Opera which was just at the beginning as the story evolves.....FROM an opera to the MUSICAL WHICH IS WHAT IT ENDS AS. Oh well.......
I've never been a Groban fan. Half the time it sounds like he's singing thru his nose while also being slightly congested. The other half (when he's singing the lower operatic tones) it sounds like he's trying to swallow his tongue. Can't say anything bad about Kelly, she's a real singer.
So, you know more than a opera singer?! She didn't say anything about that, so my guess, you just dislke him and you say cheap things just yo badmouth him!
@@vervideosgiros1156 Wow, you really don't like opinions that don't align with your own. Next time maybe try to understand what a comment is actually saying before replying. 🤦♂
I think you’re confused. Whether one likes any given individual’s voice is by definition subjective but whether you like it or not, to insulate he’s not a ‘proper’ singer , in contrast to Kelly, goes beyond the bounds of stupid into the realm of the absurdly ignorant.

Kelly was trained in Opera and can sing in any genre. Great reaction
Such a great version. Groban has such depth and immaculate tone. And Clarkson is always a treasure no matter the genre.
I love so much people are finally giving Kelly her flowers! She deserves them all!
She will still never get enough flowers though. Makes me sad.
@MiguelHdez.08 it's unfortunate but not everyone can have good taste.
Wow! Kelly’s voice is magical 💫

Love this video! This probably my favorite version of this song. Give me chills.
As someone with no musical training, I love how you explained this. Thank you!
You're welcome! ☺
Two of my all time favorite singers

Love Josh Groban and he can sing anything from pop to opera. However, the best version is by Sarah Brightman and Michael Ball.
