Good seamanship, good boat handling, and great radio etiquette. Thanks for including the crew in these vids. They make you look good.
They do! Thank you very much for watching Tom. CUOTO
Passage of knowledge that can’t be passed in a book. Navigation, physics, etiquette of radio comms, leadership - GL, Luke.
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Just learned a new Tim-ism!
“Every good ‘Plan A’, has a good ‘Plan B’ “. 👍❤️
💯!!!! 😂 Thank you very much for watching! CUOTO
“A winner always wants the ball “
I like that Tim.
Exactly! Thank you very much for watching John. CUOTO
Luke - welcome to Tim's internet crew. Nice driving - lots of brain power - less diesel power👍
Tim - you teach them well - please carry on this essential work.
Fair winds to all aboard your fine vessel from near Gloucester (England).
Thank you very much for watching and for your kind words. CUOTO
Honestly I never knew how much concentration you need to dock a bardge now I know it is incredible you dudes got it
Thank you very much Ed! I appreciate that. CUOTO
Nice to see mutual respect and the confirmation of you as the captain to confirm his play.
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Luke is doing just fine. I like how easy he is on the boat.
He did make it look easy, but he's probably a natural! Have a good one, boys!
Thank you very much for watching Ed. Luke is one of the better ones. CUOTO
I like it when a plan comes together, well done! OK what’s for dinner!
Me too! Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Talk about a dream job. Ever since I was 9 years old I wanted to operate at Tug on the river. I would literally geek out and I still do because I work with them all the time. I love watching them maneuver when I'm at work lol
Hope to see you one of these times. Thank you again for watching! CUOTO
@@TimBatSea That isn't you going past the Hook today at 1328 is it lol
Luke is a great student and can really handle whatever is thrown at him. A great student of his craft will never back down from any challenge.😊
💯!!! Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
I'm getting addicted to your videos, Its cool to see moves I put together in action!!!!!!!
Thank you very much for watching Nicholas! Yes sir! You point and we charge! CUOTO
Good job, Luke. Thanks again, Tim for a good Tuesday morning video to watch while I have my breakfast.
Good morning Ralph, and thank you for watching. CUOTO
Who says men can’t multitask? 😂. It’s not easy communicating with multiple radios and staying on task. Great video.
True! Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Hi Tim, another great video! Nice change to watch Luke and Chris put on a demonstration of competent seamanship. Philly as a nice change from NYC. Take care, stay safe and CUOTO, Ed
Thank you very much for watching Ed. CUOTO
My old company had a Chem Barge up there that moved some nasty stuff. She only made one move a month and was bringing in just about top dollar even being the smallest!
Right?! Thank you very much for watching Chief! CUOTO
You’re a great captain Tim, also an awesome mentor..very patient and calm. Thanks for the video..watch them all from the comfort of my recliner tug.
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Ooooh, you're there. All I can say is that the plant at the other end of the pipes from that terminal... it made using I-95 and its exit ramp a very smelly experience when I was a kid.
Thank you very much for watching (and smelling) 😂. CUOTO
I get the feeling that some of the land crew are Ahh Not So much in the know 😮
Thank you very much for watching Brian. There tend to be many links in the chain, and it's easy to not get the entire plan on land or on the tug. CUOTO
Caught a glimpse of Richmond Generating Station, an architectural marvel in its time, and a "cathedral of power" so to speak. Would love more underway footage of this river, but I know you go where assigned. Also wondering if your company sells merch, I like the tshirt.
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. Why yes we do! You should see a merch shelf under the video description. CUOTO
@@TimBatSea been here since the beginning, lol. Just had life going on the past few months. I'd like to have one of the tug specific tshirts, like what Luke was wearing. But I don't see them on the company merch store. I'll take a look at yours instead.
Whoa! I grew up right near there.
At first I thought this was where Rohm and Haas was, but it looks like it's a little bit north.
It's good to see there's still industrial action on the river there.
Oh yes! That there is! Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Very cool. Nice work Luke, Tim, and crew. You guys are operating just up river from the Battleship New Jersey in Camden.
She’s going to need a dead ship tow into drydock at the Philadelphia Navy Yard here in a few weeks - just saying… 😎
Thank you very much for watching. I follow the Battleship NJ's channel and love it. I have been hearing it said on there that they were raising the funds to get her drydocked. It would be so cool to be involved with her tow, but I'm just the driver. You have to talk to the owner. CUOTO
Tugboat moto "bleed that speed"! Well done Luke (and Tim) ... silk smooth departure and arrival.
Stay safe. CUOTO
Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words George. CUOTO
I hope I see you on the river this summer..
Thank you very much for watching. Me too! CUOTO
As always .... love watching you and the crew doing what you do. Thank You.
Thank you very much Jack? CUOTO
You're in my neighborhood!!!! Beers on me !!!! 🍻🍻
I wish! I'm ready! 😂 Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Ok, nobody’s going to ask about the paint brush?😂
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel Steve. That's to clean the dash. CUOTO
I hope you picked up a cheesesteak at Geno’s while you where there!
😂😂😂😂 Have you seen how fat I am? 😂 Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Your a good teacher as well
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Nice job Luke
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel John. CUOTO
Thanks for handling her while we were down bud!
It was our pleasure! Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
first time I've seen you carrying the barge on the hip - nice job
Thank you for watching Doug. Alongside is a great option and in this case, a necessity. CUOTO
excellent boat handling Luke. nice scenery and excellent video thank you Tim
Thank you for watching James. CUOTO
your welcome Tim
Wow Tim. Thanks for sharing that. Had no idea. Good job Luke. 👍
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
As far as radios, do you use a Marine Band channel to talk to the AB and the Tankermen or a non-marine band business radio?
Also is there VTS down by Philly?
CUOTO!!
Thank you for watching. Yea. Only intrinsically safe radios can be allowed on an oil/chemical barge and these are all marine radios. Now USCG VTS here the pilots do operate "Philadelphia Maritime" which is similar. CUOTO
Luke did a nice job. You are a good teacher and mentor Tim!!
Thank you very much for watching and for your kind words. CUOTO
Great stuff Tim. James.
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel James. CUOTO
Just discovered your channel recently and really enjoy it. I'm learning so much about your work.
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Another awesome video thank you
Thank you very much for watching Harry! CUOTO
great vid as usual,,thanks
Thank you very much for watching Lester. CUOTO
Always a Enjoyable Journey!

Thank you for another great video. Cheers
Thank you very much for watching Steven. CUOTO
To bad I missed you going by Manasquan inlet.
Thank you for watching Joe. CUOTO
Great job Like, and thx for the vid. Tim.
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Loved it! Loving the Philly footage. Good job Luke!
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel. You'll like next week's video as well! CUOTO
Good job guys!
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
That bit where getting underway, where the radio came alive and the crew taking "your spot" called in. Interesting to see the difference in fluidity of response between Luke and the old-sea-dog Tim. So they were proactively calling in to address any risks of being unknown & to be good to those that they would encounter. A good bit of documentation of how the risks of contracting for both the barge and tug companies are addressed....how is boat-barge compatibility referred to in the industry?
Thank you for watching. Luke is a truly gifted boat handler but I've been at it awhile. The other tug was most likely just confirming that the berth was open. CUOTO
@@TimBatSea We were seeing knowledge transfer occurring in the wild. Anticipation & the ease of an activity comes with time & I am sure the Luke is acquiring insight the right way.
I see "Wye River" on the back of a shirt.... My part of Wales 😁😁
Thank you very much for watching Evan. CUOTO
Amazing Job Thanks Tim & Luke also the crew,
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel Brian. CUOTO
Another smooth safe job.
Thank you for watching John. CUOTO
Awesome job Luke 👍and of course a big cuoto to capt Tim 😂😂😂
CUOTO Al! Thank you for watching.
Well done, Luke!
Thank you for watching. CUOTO
Nice to see you on the Delaware! Hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather in Philly!
Thank you for watching Natalie. It was very nice for a few days. It's windy today! CUOTO
Great job Luke, another good video Tim!
Cheers, Geoff
Thank you very much! CUOTO
Amazing video.
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Sounds like you've ripped a few bumpers off the dock Tim 😂Luke did a good job, you guys had a 3000, he's not like you the tug isn't cavitating the tug isn't vibrating, the water isn't all frothy 🤣
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Good work guys 👌
Thank you for watching. CUOTO
Passed you guys a few times this week. Love seeing the videos in my neck of the woods !
Thank you for watching Tim! Be sure to say hi next time . CUOTO
Tim B that was a great video , he did a great job
Thank you for watching Rich. Luke is extremely talented! CUOTO
Bravo Zulu Tim and Luke. Change of scenery; change of boat. Am I watching Luke operate with 2 single lever controls at his left hand, and tiller lever to right?
That is correct. Thank you for watching Tom. CUOTO
Captain Luke has a good sound to it.
Thank you for watching. We all hold Captain's licenses on here, but there can only be one Captain. Luke has been ready for his own command for a long time now, but he says he likes sailing with me and learning more along the way. CUOTO
Nice work, hello from Newcastle Australia
Hello! Thank you for watching. CUOTO
good job Luke👍👍.
Thank you for watching Allen. CUOTO
My dad worked at the Sun Oil refinery in Hook for 32 years as a gauger on the ships and barges to measure the product in and out of the plant wave to the old plant as you go by.
Thank you for watching Tom. Will do! CUOTO
What's his name? I currently work there and offload gasoline and naptha quite regularly.
@@dhooter i'm a junior he worked down at hook in the gauging department from 54 till he retired in 87 IIRC
great job
Thank you for watching Mark. CUOTO
well done Luke is a keeper the Fraser river here is tidal for 45 miles inland makes for tricky ship handling not to mention log booms
I bet! Thank you very much for watching Garth. CUOTO
As soon as you said Philadelphia I was hoping you would get footage os USS John F Kennedy CV 67, but you are way up north of the Navy Yard. Your reference to the bridge name made it easy to locate you on Google Earth. Kinda neat usage of the current to pull you off and push you on.
Thank you for watching. We do pass it on our way in and out of our yard. I'll see if I can remember to get a shot for you in a future video. CUOTO
Thanks!
Thank you very very much! Cheers 🍻 CUOTO
Hangin out in my neighborhood! Love seeing Philly from your perspective
Thank you very much for watching. Waiting to get a chance to show the crew "John's Roast Pork"!!! CUOTO
I was in Philly for work last month, long way from Washington state, and was introduced to John’s Roast Pork. Way better than Pat’s or Geno’s, controversial I’m sure…
Great work. Very interesting. Nice teaching/mentoring style, cool and calm.
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Very good video..looks like the test run was successful
Thank you very much for watching James. CUOTO
You have excellent coaching skills.
Thank you very much! I appreciate that! CUOTO
The Delaware in Philly is hardly brackish
Thank you for watching, again. Today we are showing 6.4 feet of tide at Bridesburg. I'd like to think it wasn't all fresh water. CUOTO
great job guys. always sunney in phli.
Thank you very much David! CUOTO
Great Video ! Nice to see the river here from water level, usually I’m a passenger in a window seat flying into PHL, the approach frequently runs along the river.
Thank you for watching Richard. Yes, they planes stack up for miles. At night (like last night) north bound off of Fort Mifflin, you could see what looked like 10 planes stacked and equally separated descending down from the heavens. CUOTO
Nice barge and tug handling.
Thank you very much for watching Rita. CUOTO
My home town Tim ! Probably saw you guys heading south on the Delaware.
Thank you for watching Rich. CUOTO
Hey Tim, I always appreciate your entertaining videos and advice. I follow SV Paquita as well. I bought my first sailboat this year and i’m starting my journey early. Hope this covers a couple airport drinks for you two!
Woohoo! Thank you very very very much! Yes Sir! That will do it! Congratulations on your new boat and thank you very much for watching both channels! Cheers 🍻 CUOTO
you were 3 mins fm my house. i live in Bridesburg......
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Luke has been trained well.
Thank you for watching. He's one of the best. CUOTO
I am 73 and used to have hair longer than Timothy. What I eventually learned from that- I was pretty slow, it took time- was that a number 5 crewcut allowed me to operate better and live a far more exciting life and still score the chicks man.
So my advice to Mr Tim is to get such a haircut, a white shirt with epaulettes, a bow tie and an admiral Peary cap and live the bloody life through those slings and arrows of under confidence.
A voice trumpet wouldn’t go astray for imperial directions from the bridge.
Gotta show more authority.
He is good but a bit of panache will scare the deck crew.
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel.. I assume you mean Luke and not Tim. (Tim has the very short white hair). And Luke is a retired USMC veteran who had short hair for longer than he wanted and is now enjoying civilian life and long hair. CUOTO
I would second the short hair recommendation, if one wants more female companionship. But if it works for Luke, it works. Also, I am with Luke in that I am never going so short as to have just stubble. I was forced to do that once by the government, and I am never doing it again. Now, I just pray for more hair on top of my head.
Luke looked like he did that docking like he was running an old single-screw boat. Slow, steady, letting the current help, and just let it happen. The best boat handling is when you put your vessel in a position that what it wants to do is what you want it to do.
Not sure I would have pulled off of the berth at Bridesburg as Luke did. But I do not know Bridgesburg, so no room to critique it. In any event, it seemed to go in a way that made both Luke and Tim happy, so that says much.
Nice work. CUOTO!
@danmc7815 I'm pretty sure that Luke isn't having any female companionship issues. Hell, he is a smooth operator and I'm pretty sure that I saw a ring on the Port hand to chase the women away, or at least thin them out. He probably finds himself and 10 ladies whenever he's in the Produce section at the grocery gettin place. Another great video Tim and thanks to the crew for allowing us to see you, and your duties. Definitely interesting stuff for sure. Total professionals.
Tim, begging your pardon , what you called the Betsy Ross bridge is way off course. The Betsy Ross crosses the Delaware North of Philly , not the Schuylkill. That is the Girard Ave. bridge. Check your charts Cap'n.
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel. This video was shot on the Delaware, north of Philadelphia. (Frankfort). It's the Betsy Ross Bridge fixed bridge right next to the Delair Railroad lift bridge. But thank you for keeping an eye on me. CUOTO
If there is rocks over there. Why isn’t there an aid to navigation buoy there?😮
Thank you for watching George. Because we are outside of the channel. CUOTO
Cool, you're getting close to home for me. You ever work out of Baltimore? I knew a lot of people in the maritime industry around here. I'm new on here and am completely fascinated by what you do having been a Navy QM back in the 70' and 80's.
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel Robert. Yes. The company we work for is based in Baltimore, but we are currently in Philly and may be sent to NYC. CUOTO
Very smooth departure and docking Luke !! Tim educate me what is CUOTO?
Thank you for watching. It's code for "I'll see you on the one". CUOTO
@@TimBatSea If your interested in checking out a diesel electric tug in B.C.? Edison Motors - The Future of Electric Vehicles at the Zero Emissions Fleet Event .
Luke / Tim Did you use the "COG predictor" for the departure / transit / arrival during this voyage ... just curious as it was not mentioned in the video. I really appreciate the dedication to quality that is obvious in these Tuesday gems.
Stay safe ... CUOTO / CUOT2
Thank you very much for watching George. Oh yes. We have it represented as a 6 minute line and often look up at it. CUOTO
Lots going on, thanks for posting 🙂 A bit more communication to the deck crew about what you are doing, just to give them an idea so they know what to expect… Don't listen to me I know nothing...
Thank you for watching. CUOTO
Great job!! How long you in the Philadelphia area? I;ve been boating the Delaware my entire life. Gotta love those 8+ mile per hour currents. LOL
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel Wayne. CUOTO
Good job Luke! CUOTO both of you.
Thank you very much for supporting the channels Norm! CUOTO
Nice to see you in our area. When will you be heading south back under the Delaware memorial bridge?
Thank you very much for watching Nick. Remember that these videos are usually not in real time. We are still currently working in Philly, but for how long, I don't know. CUOTO
Luke knows how to pilot a boat, very interesting video. Really enjoy watching your videos, hope you can keep making them. Watching from Iowa. Do you have another channel? What is the name if you do.🤔
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. Yes, it's called SV Paquita. Would really appreciate you subscribing over there. Thank you! CUOTO
This must have been your longest trip ever at around 15k feet. =)
😂😂😂😂😂 Right? Thank you very much for watching. That doesn't happen often. CUOTO

Thank you very much for watching! CUOTO
Another canny video Tim..enjoy watching your life from here in Sunderland, England..had to type in your tugs name to find it on “vessel finder”. How often do you change tugs that you work on?
Thank you for watching. We usually spend our time only on our regular boat. CUOTO
Thankyou for replying Tim,I’m recently retired and I’m enjoying watching your videos and going through your back catalogue. I regular check the movements of the tugs you have served on .i won’t mention their names as I know you don,t,,I did 10 years in the Royal Navy and had a one night run ashore in Puerto Rico, once ,ended upstairs with a lady of the night in this pub near the the harbour ,,, ah ,those were the days ,you can never replace those memories of life at sea,,,keep doing what you,re doing…thankyou…
Hi Captain Tim!
Great work Luke!
CUOTO
Thank you very much for supporting the channels Mellissa. CUOTO
Just curious what the paint brush is for on your dash? Is that for a dusting? LOL
Yes. You are correct! Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel Shane. CUOTO
How is your work documented and invoiced? Great work!
Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. We keep a log, and our office handles invoicing. CUOTO
Hey Tim were you near the Tioga marine terminal and buckeye terminal my friend Jack used to run his boat up that way
Yes Sir Eddie! Right there beside us. Thank you very much for watching and supporting the channels! CUOTO
That’s great be safe COUTO
When he makes the securite call as you prepare to leave and says heading for and names the bridges ... am I correct that this does not count as a call to open said bridges, however those bridges would have heard that call and will be prepared for his later call to open ??
Thank you for watching. Yes. A security call is for other boat traffic. A lift or swing bridge needs a separate call. CUOTO
Curiuos what the 2 black round things are either side of the compass. Thank you. Mike Atlanta GA
Thank you for watching Mike and welcome to the channel. Those are compass compensators. They are adjusted to reduce the Tug's magnetic field so it interferes with the compass less. CUOTO
Thank you@@TimBatSea
