  • I built a LOG antenna finally. I had the parts forever but I thought I would give this a shot for some help in lowering my noise floor. I did not show the build but just the results. The parts list I will provide in the video description. It is basically a Binocular toroid, project box, F-Type female connector and magnet wire. The coax is 75 Ohm coax as recommended in the online build instructions. There are a number of those available at various sites.
    Torroid: www.amazon.com...
    Magnet Wire: www.amazon.com...
    F-Type 75 Ohm Connector: www.amazon.com...
    Project Box: www.amazon.com...
    Coax: www.homedepot....

That is an incredible difference in noise floor. Thanks for sharing this.

Yes, it's pretty dramatic. Take a look at Callum's video as well: ua-cam.com/video/z5MhYu2LUrY/v-deo.html

Amazing Don big difference with loop. I'm thinking about getting a transmit loop for 20 and 40 any suggestions I'm going to mount it horizontal 65 feet in the air

I had a loop up at one time. A horizontal Delta loop is fantastic but either a Delta loop or a Skyloop. Either are fantastic.

Wow. That is some dramatic difference. That noise floor basically disappears.

I ran that under the power line up to the house so was not expecting this result

It’s interesting that you are using the transformer the opposite way around to the original article and the ratio is actually 16:1 rather than the original 6.25:1 or 9:1. I wonder why you decided to make those changes and did you try the original idea. 73, John.

I looked at many articles on this. Not sure which is the original article. I now have 2 LoGs out both built this way. And I have seen many different ratios for the transformer. I also have a DX Engineering loop for detecting RFI that is also built this way. I think in here that I have pointed out that the ideas on the build came from building the DXE loop.

How much of a difference does it make on phone?

Sorry I didn't respond to this right away. It make a lot of difference on Phone. In fact, that is how I use it.

Thanks Ape. I am a little surprised myself but I think it is due to my noise type. I still want to track down the source
