The filter is interesting! I was going to try it, but I heard that Moka pots sometimes explode from too much pressure, like packing the coffee; so I bought a Bialetti Brikka and it works perfectly to make a lot of crema.
But when I do use my Bialetti Venus Moka pots, I get consistently good flavor that's never bitter, never burnt, never over-extracted by following the simple Bialetti instructions:
1. Fill it with room temperature or cold filtered or bottled water to touch the bottom of the pressure valve.
2. Loosely fill the basket with medium-fine ground espresso, like Bialetti Perfetto Moka, Lavazza, illy, Kimbo, etc., then scrape the top with a straight spoon handle to make the coffee level with the rim. Wipe grounds off the rim and threads, then screw it together tight.
3. Cook on a low gas flame or a preheated medium electric stove. As soon as you hear it gurgle immediately remove the Moka from the stove and let it finish brewing on your countertop from the residual heat inside the pot. (So do not cool off the Moka under cold running water.) Stir up the most-concentrated coffee from the bottom with a teaspoon and pour.
4. There will be some leftover brown water full of fines in the bottom and that's good! If that water had gone through it would've diluted and dirtied your cup. Wash with hot water and no soap, wipe dry with a cloth. It will stay very clean.
The best Bialetti tutorials are found via search terms: "Annalisa J Moka pot" and "Il Barista Italiano Moka."
Bialetti earns aprox $180 Million US dollars per year, so they can afford the best scientific testing and professional taste testing to ensure their Mokas make the best flavor. Their instructions work perfectly.
Thank you so much for the comment! The reason that I selected the basic moka express was really because of the made in Italy. I was a little upset when I heard that they are making most of their mocha pots right now in China… Cost savings, but the quality suffers.
Pressure issues are more when people do things that they really shouldn’t like over, pack the basket and compress it while at the same time, putting too much water in the basin, if someone covers the valves, it becomes like a pressure bomb.
@@ImpossiblyKosher That's too bad about China! It must be true because the Moka Express page says it's made in Italy, but the Venus page doesn't say where it's made. Sad! My Brikka is aluminum, so it's probably made in Italy.
Hope so!! Either way!
The technique is everything. The slower the extraction, the better :)
I would prefer not to wait for the bubbling sound, but to shoot then, as shown in this video. You can try to brew coffee that you take from the fire after the eruption and before the eruption. Then, when the coffee starts to flow lighter. And compare the taste.
@@andrijstorozenko5631 I don't mind waiting for the gurgle sound because it only takes a few minutes on a low gas flame or a preheated medium electric stove. I don't want to watch my Moka pot, so I just do other things in the kitchen while I'm waiting to hear the gurgle sound.
My coffee is very strong.
At the same time, I can only distinguish whether it is sour or bitter. But some shades of flavors are not felt, as when cooking in a jezva. Strong concentration, hides all flavors.
At least that's how I feel.
That's why I dilute the coffee with hot water.
I find the opposite actually. Like Turkish coffee, the strength really lends to the taste.
I don’t like pure black espresso shots, so I always add milk.
@@ImpossiblyKosher You see, everyone has different tastes. I like to taste and I don't find the shades of taste that I wanted.
I also often make cappuccino.
100% agreed. I've been going from coffee shop to coffee shop, trying all kinds of different brands and little blenders to get the best coffee taste for me. That will remind me of my time in Italy.
Hello, could you please give us the ordering information for the filter? Thanks!
Hey! What country are you in?
Canada - province of Quebec. The filter is presentely unavailable on Amazon in Canada and also in the US, so I was wondering if it has been discontinued...
Go to coffeeaddicts.ca
You will find it there under E&B Moka Pot Competition Filter
Thank you!!!
I make coffee the same way as in this video, but I pour room temperature water. Bottled.
I tried the room temp water, I do taste a slight difference, but the time it takes to heat up for me doesn’t justify the difference.
@@ImpossiblyKosher I started pouring room temperature water because when I poured hot water, the coffee came out more sour.
Bialetti vs moka e&b wich do you prefer?
I like the Bialetti moka, but I use the E&B filter.
I find E&B moka spout when pouring is a bit too small. But other than that? Love it too.
OMG
:)
Which Bialetti ? 1 cup model?
This one is the 3 cup
Thanks! Can you give me link to filter basket?
