  • In this video I show how mice can be smart and learn to avoid traps.
    This is why we use different traps and trapping methods to catch mice.

    I have caught over 20 mice easily in my attic over the last year. There is one left, and he has avoided 35 traps of various kinds. I sealed the hole to the outside so I don’t know how he gets food and water. I have 3 cameras set up and the mouse avoids all traps… this is not an embellishment… how do I defeat the boss !?

    Yeah Mike, I have found that once you catch one mouse with a certain type of trap, the other mice see their buddy dead or dying and learn not to go near the type of trap you used. It is wise to remove the kills promptly so the other mice may not encounter it.
    Generally once you get one, you won't get another.
    They leave the glue traps alone after catching one also.
    For some reason they never seem interested in poison bait either.
    Seems some of them mice are smarter than some humans I know.
    Great video, keep them coming.

    Bro, I put peanut butter on the traps the mouses actually managed to eat everything without activate the traps I don't even know how it's possible because the traps are really sensitive, I mean sometimes just slightly moving them activate them but somehow they successfully ate the peanut butter without activating the traps, they're f ing smart.

    They come and have party in my sink cabinet from the holes for the dishwasher hose. So i set the traps like one showed in this video, and caught one the very first night, i put another trap the next day and caught the second in two days. After that i set two traps but no luck since for past 2-3 weeks even though they are still coming. Its a very tight space the traps are right in their path and the snap traps a so sensitive that sometimes it is quite difficult to set them and then place them at the location. I smudged the cheese in the little holes of the plastic trap still i see remnants of cheese pieces around the trap!! Must be very expert 'covert'!! operation.!!

  • @heck6225

    from my personal experience, the plastic snap traps work best. i've tried the wooden ones, the mice seem to be able to take the bait from them occasionally without setting it off. those circular kill & conceal things have never worked once for me. glue traps work but are cruel.
    ultimately those plastic snap traps seem to be the most effective. i've never had the bait stolen from one, there is a kill every single time... once again, this is all anecdotal

    I’m losing my mind here, I got put into a house infested. I caught soooo many babies but it’s just the big one left, I’ve tried multiple traps, sticky traps, homemade bucket trap it dodges it all! Such a smart mouse I’m dealing with it’s a joke.. it literally eats the bait right off it, I stuck raisins all over each trap, it managed to take off every raisin? I just don’t get it 😅 any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

      you'll need to secure the bait and use only a little so the mouse needs to work to get the bait off. you can also try a small piece of cotton ball. If you're using snap traps with the yellow trigger you can stuff the cotton under the front clip (i might have a video about it)

    I have set up a good amount of glue traps and I’m now certain the mice are avoiding them I even change the boards out often to keep them fresh. My first go around I didn’t use gloves so i thought that was the problem. Once I found out I’m supposed to use gloves I set out more traps with gloves on and still no success , any ideas ?

      some tips with using glue boards: never bait them. Use the flat boards instead of plastic raised one (search amazon for 72MB glue boards by catch master) place the boards in long runways where they travel and land on them as theyre runnig. Or use mice snap traps with peanut butter, you might have more success that sticky traps.

  • @markrobbin

    Is peanut butter the best thing to use? I had some of these bastards in my kitchen. They would come out after I cooked dinner. I had peanut butter in the trap, but they wouldn't budge. I decided to put a sample of what I made for dinner in the trap. I've had much better luck that way.

    • @bugbullyrodentpestcontrol7073
      @bugbullyrodentpestcontrol7073  2 роки тому +2

      the best option is what they are already eating as a food source. If they're eating dog food then use that. If they're eating your dinner, then use that. Peanut butter works but its not always the best. I've also used pieces of cotton balls, raisin, chocolate syrup, pet food, etc

      try cotton on the traps or try plastic traps instead of the wooden ones. you can also try glue boards but don't bait the glue board just put it in the runway path of the mouse.

    If you reuse a trap that has killed a mouse they can smell the dead mouse and will avoid it. If you handled the trap without gloves the mouse can smell you and will avoid the trap. If you place the trap poorly the mouse may avoid it because they feel the lovation you have placed the trap is too exposed. Try cleaning the traps after each use or replace them, always use gloves, place the traps along mouse runs where they are less exposed and check them daily, mix up the bait you use not all mice like the same thing (peanut butter, chololate, cheese spread) are all good options but dont be afraid to try different things.

    • @XAVargasX0206
      @XAVargasX0206 Рік тому +3

      Mice don't care about other dead mice. In fact, mice will often steal the bait from their dead buddies after the trap is triggered. There is absolutely no need to wash the trap each time you catch a mouse, you are actually getting rid of their own scent when you clean the trap which will make them more leary. A hungry mouse will never turn down peanut butter, which is the only bait you'll need once you've gotten rid of all access to other food sources.

    • @heck6225
      @heck6225 Рік тому

      i know this is an old comment but i'm pretty sure that's a myth. mice are pretty fearless unless they see movement or hear something, then they'll scurry back into their hidy holes. i'm pretty sure mice don't care at all about scent... they are just after food
