I understand it feels this way! For steady promotions, you work even after your work is done, that's just how it is in India. My mother works at mckinsey and I've personally interviewed many people in her backend office (who are obviously not consultants) and they too have to put in these hours. I've networked with many people through Linkedin (IIM graduates) and all have shared the same story with me. And the entire point of the video was this: don't get into this field unless you have even 50% interest in it. And when you mention 8-10 hours, wouldn't you count the travel time? or the time spent networking in workplaces. How can you give time to your family / or to your personal hobbies if you work for more than 10 hours everyday with just weekends to unwind, that to at a job you're not even interested in? At the end of the idea I do mention how wonderful the exposure is at an IIM and that one should definitely go for it if they have the interest in this field! You're going to work for 40 years of your life afterall. I understand what you're trying to say, but there's a way to share criticism! If you're wanting to make money, you don't have to look for something you're passionate about, just something you can continue to work on for at least 5-6 years. For finding ways to make money + exposure, join a GOOD startup where you can work with the founder and first hand learn from them. 2nd would be start something by yourself, you can try no investment business on social media. To make money from any business it takes time, and joining a B school with so much debt will take away the opportunity and your 20s to establish something big! So you'll probably have to take the plunge for 5-6 years with very minimal amount of money. Hope this helps :)
