I'm so glad that I found your channel. I recently graduated with my BSW and am now working toward my MSW and LCSW. During my recent internship I learned about many of the topics covered in your videos and being a person that is a visual learner, your channel has been very helpful.

Enjoyed this video and have linked it to my counselling students to demonstrate chairwork, thank you Dr. Curtis.
I've had astonishing client results with chair work whereby I have witnessed clients actually seem like they are channeling the individual with whom they converse. Their voice changes, they use sentences and words of the other person. Clients have shifted through impasses and sense of stuckness, very quickly as a result of chair work.
It is imperative however, the client feels very safe and confident working in this manner. To support this I will actually demonstrate myself shifting between chairs and voice some demonstrative dialogue. I do use three chairs as well rather than standing behind the client.

She must’ve done this before. There’s such an ease with which she could just switch between roles .

It would be better, in my experience, to change always the empty seat. When the therapist return in in his seat there is, sometimes, some conditioning, especially, in the end.

MrCanabilla I agree. I just learned about the Empty Chair technique recently and now I have a much greater appreciation for it.

Natasha Vernon it’s not required but it feels more natural for me to do it that way.

Isn't it a bit weird that in this method you just say whatever comes in your head? I have no knowledge on the topic but I ve seen couple of videos eith empty chair discussion and it just seems random and happy end. Particularly in this case that the lady has not seen her grandmother for years... How can she speak on behalf of her? She does not know her. She only says what she wants to hear... Is it a condition to always finish happy end?

Hello Dr. Curtis, I have found your video very informative and helpful. I would love to reach out to you about an ebook I wrote as a result of my partner's passing and two years of deep grief. Could you please provide me with an email that I can reach out to and further explain? Many thanks in advance. Cindy
