Have to admire a man that gets a lift before the garage,
Buy lift , work and save, build shop .
As a contractor I can say that this pretty unorthodox building tactics but I will also say if it keeps you and your stuff out of the rain it can’t be wrong.

You’re like every guy in earth. You outgrew your shop while it was being built. We can NEVER have a big enough shop. When you get tight on room, just add onto it. Good job doing this on a budget!

Yes, the concrete will crack eventually... However, YOU can easily be the one who decides where it cracks. Cutting some relief joints (> or = to 1/3 of the pad thicknesses) will promote the inevitable cracks propensity to follow the path of least resistance (which will now be directly below your cut joint) rather than somewhere less desirable like where the lift posts reside. While I've certainly encountered situations where cracking occurred elsewhere, it's incredibly rare. I operate various concrete cutting equipment for a living and this method is the industry standard. You're best move on any future pours will be to make your cut asap while it's still curing. This lessens the chance of it occurring elsewhere and is a lot easier than after it's fully hardened. 🍻

Great build! Was that a porcupine? Above bay door ways & eaves would look great with frankensteined recycled house or commercial windows. Green glass if you can find it Get your natural light. No aluminum. Try wood or steel frames. Old buildings throw em out all the time. Hit up your small local window installer. Habitat Resale sometimes gets stuff to ugly for home dropped off too = Cheap or Free. A video on rough make up of a pulley chain & crank openers would get hits too. Could probably do something up with used bike chains & sprockets. Weld mount on frame using worn our springs or leaves to flex for temp changes. Youre still Garageless, but now you're Shop Full.
