  • This first of four movies on the Verbos Electronics Bark Filter Processor plays with using it as an extreme graphic equalizer or multiband formant filter while giving an overview of its large number of inputs, outputs, and controls. The last minute and a half explains what the Bark Scale is, which is what sets this module apart from other “spectral processors” that that use an octave-based system for their frequency bands.

If you're curious, it's a Quicksilver, called "Eye For An Eye". Sizes runs small, if you can find one.

Love your tutorials! Would be great if you could offer skype coaching sessions or something like that :)

Thanks for the kind words! I don't offer Skype coaching sessions (but DivKid does); I've been using Patreon as a way to have a closer relationship with some users: www.patreon.com/LearningModular

Considering either the Bark Filter or Fumana, priority on the EN followers. Price is the same per EN. Any opinion?

Since the Fumana has more bands, it will cut the frequency spectrum into smaller pieces, potentially give you finer control. However, the Verbos' decay speed on its envelope follower has a much wider range than the Fumana.
One thing to keep in mind that if you want the filter to modulate itself, the Bark Filter splits itself into two halves, where the envelope followers of six bands are used to modulate the other six bands. In the Fumana, the envelope followers for all 16 bands can be used to modulate 16 bands of Main sound processing.

Learning Modular Thank you for your detailed breakdown. So for EN follower functionality, would the Bark ultimately be your choice, given the wider range? I enjoy generative patches, and am looking at either of these modules first and foremost for the followers for this purpose.
