This build doesn't work at all in PVP, esp in battlegrounds. I copied it exactly, everything, from skills, gear, to traits and enchants, and I had terrble results. Any half-geared PVP player will brutally murder you in 5 seconds without taking any damage from you. This build has no proper heals, unless you're constantly spamming jabs, which is not possible at all in pvp since you get stunned, enemy blinks away or goes into stealth, etc etc. it also has no actual damage at all, you just put on the puncture and spam jabs, and it does... nothing. The average PVP player will have at least 30K resistances and a crap ton of damage. And that's just average. The top meta builds, like stam sorc or the stupid night blade bow build will hit you for 16k 3 times in a row and you're finished instantly. Without cleanse, or powerful heals or sets, you're just a rabbit jumping at people nibbing at them with your little jabs until they notice you and destroy you lol. I appreciate the effort, and you're gonna destroy any PVE focused player, but that's about it. Zero chances in PVP. Try out a bash build if you want to play a spartan like this and still be at least somewhat viable in pvp
@@Grimsforge-Gaming Hey I'm not complaining, just stating some facts! How could I have known that it will not work anymore? :( Also I did say that I appreciate the effort! And I really do! @@Amethisko Target selection and server meta (PCNA, PCEU, Xbox, PS) have a large factor in build performances. I've got people still running this build due to the 7k-8k spell damage and high pen and doing just fine on it. BUT you're going to struggle jumping into a group that is heal stacking or covering for each other well. Meaning, you get stunned every time you get one low and try to finish OR they can toss out burst heals for each other on top of hots. 1 person will always have to work harder against mid level pvpers that understand these concepts, making it feel like the damage is lacking. There is no way around that fact without delving into proc/bomb 0-100% gameplay. Everyones experiences are different in ESO, but I wouldn't say a build is trash when the stats (pen, damage, resistances, mitigations), Heals (Resolving Vigor, Breath of Life, and Puncturing Sweeps) and the extreme ease of using the build via 1 bar Oakensoul, are all there. Additionally there is this "Is that play style even for me" question which is why I always ask people I'm training to watch gameplay of builds in action To make sure that is even what they want to do or face. I posted a Necro Bash awhile back with a handful of people playing it and loving it. It wasn't really my cup of tea but effective for the play style and it did use Deadlands. Might be fun to pair it with a sustain set like Wretched since sustain is terrible on bash builds OR a set using a pull to gather everyone up for you. (Dark Conv, Agony etc). Fragman Saul ran bash alot and was probably where I would go to research.
@Grimsforge-Gaming I think the weakness of this build is that while it has great survivability, it just doesn't have burst damage. In the current meta, any average PVPer is going to have good self heals, which will always vastly outperform simple jab spam, no matter what your penetration is. And without the puncture skill, you're left with low penetration, and all you can do is be an annoying jab-spammer :) Swapping the shield charge for templar leap will give you more critical damage thanks to templar passives. Living Dark is also relatively useless - there are better skills to replace this with, for example the Beacon burst heal, or the templar Rune, either magicka or stamina version - healing from these is HUGE, you also get resources, and if standing in the circle, you activate some extremely important and powerful templar passives. The 1h puncture skill is also quite useless in this build if you're running Balorgh - with your ult active, you already have something like 15k penetration or more, which is more than enough in pvp, especially battlegrounds. Ideally, you'd swap this puncture with Power Slam. Even without stacking Bash damage, having high spell/weapon power gives Power Slam a lot of damage. This would be really good in a rotation of Leap-> Light Attack-> Jabs->Power Slam-> Jabs->LA->Jabs The gear sets also don't really make that much sense to be honest. Titanborn is simply a bad set overall, there is a set which gives you nearly identical stats, but active all the time, instead of only when you're low on hp. Can't remember the name right now. Willpower and 1pc Trainee is an interesting combination... but I just don't know. It just gives you flat stats basically, when you could be getting really strong proc sets that ALSO give you stats. I think you'd get much better results using something like Order's Wrath 5pc, Stuhn's Favor 5pc (insane synergy with templar leap, practically always procced), oakensoul, and 1pc monster set for more penetration. Alternatively, here you could swap Order's Wrath for Mechanical Acuity, and Stuhn's could be swapped with Shattered Fate 5pc for a lot of penetration. 3 medium and 4 heavy pieces, 44hp and 20 stamina points, and stamina regen mundus with 3 divines and the rest either impen or reinforced traits. Infused jewelry with whatever enchant you want. This way, you would be putting out basically non-stop criticals for the first 10-15 seconds of the fight, while having 15k+ penetration - not even necessary to use balorgh, and you'd still keep around 3-4k spell power, more than enough for strong heals. Maybe use cleanse instead of the 3rd offensive skill. SO that would be templar leap, vigor, rune, cleanse, and power slam (to take advantage of 1h/shield). I'm just saying, with this build or other similar alternatives (there are many very good gear sets for templars other than the ones I mentioned) you retain the tankiness, you keep survivability and strong heals, you keep mobility, you keep the penetration, but you also get a lot more damage.
@@Amethisko It sounds like you have it all figured out, a year and a half after the builds release. You’re build theory crafting is solid and pvp understanding seem rational. Create your own channel and develop builds/play styles to help people. I did an extreme amount of build field testing in BGs and open world. At the time of the video, Living Dark was one of the games most unbalanced skills. You can do research with other content creators around the same time saying as much. None of this really matters anyways. Your looking at something from years past saying “what a silly little thing.. That makes no sense and is useless” If you can’t kill someone with 8k spell damage, a stun every 7 seconds and enough penetration to full pen a tank, it’s a learn to play issue. New players picked this build up and had great effectiveness spamming sweeps, especially after the stun. It put people on their back bar and as they recovered, they came off CC immunity just to get stunned again. Sometimes you can’t kill good players outright, and you need to make it a resource fight. This is literally a training session we hold showing full guilds that a tank or healer can kill someone when using their hard and soft CCs properly, paired with even less damage then this video. As a final note, Oakensoul was overpowered at the time of release, overshadowing the lack of bar slots and your inability to squeeze offense, CC control, hots, burst heals and damage/mitigation all on the same kit. Oakensouls true hurdle. I don’t know what to say any further on the subject other than give you a thumbs up, smile and say “Yep!”.
