The Russian Army captured nine villages since it launched an offensive on May 10 while intense battle to capture border town of Vovchansk is underway.

This war should hever have happened ,when you neighbours are worried about being surrounded by NATO to the extent that Russia is then the last thing you do is apply to join NATO you have to find a way of managing this without conflict. Putin warned of the consequences no one listened least of all rhe US ,and look at their recent track record, and look where the world now is on the verge of nuclear conflict well done everybody . When Putin /Russia says it ,it means it and the sooner our leaders start to understand this the better.

Technically, every move is losing because there are too many open fronts: moving troops from Kherson to Khar'kov means Kherson is free to take (as well as Nikolaiev and Odessa...), moving them from Chasov Yar is opening the way to Kramatorsk/Slavyansk, and nothing guarantees any improvement in Khar'kov itself, quite the contrary: travelling is exhausting for the troops and the Russians are already waiting from them on the roads, they're shelling all attempts to reinforce to counter their advance. Sacrifice? No, that's the endgame.
As a note, the Russians had started retreating in August '22, the Ukrainian "liberated" Khar'kov because the Russians had already left. Every time they tried to fight the Russians (and go faster than they were retreating) at that time, they suffered major losses, which made that "liberation" a bloody operation on Ukrainian side and almost nothing from Russian side (like 1 for 20 kill ratio).
