The ruling basically says that the executive order as it currently stands, which limits or blocks travel to and from I think 7 Muslim-majority countries, is within the President's constitutional authority. The dissent from the 4 liberal justices says that there is compelling evidence from the campaign that the intent of the President is specifically against Muslims, but the order is written such that, from the order itself, there is no clear evidence that this is the case.

If you take them as allegory, on the other hand, they offer a lot of insight into human nature. The story of Adam and Eve, for instance, is an allegory for the transition from ignorance/innocence to knowledge, and the price we pay for gaining such knowledge. Okay, so. People, including SCOTUS Justices, having opinions that differ from yours do not automatically make them corrupt. The ruling basically says that the executive order as it currently stands, which limits or blocks travel to and from I think 7 Muslim-majority countries, is within the President's constitutional authority. The dissent from the 4 liberal justices says that there is compelling evidence from the campaign that the intent of the President is specifically against Muslims, but the order is written such that, from the order itself, there is no clear evidence that this is the case.
It was won bc of that judge that Trump was allowed to appoint despite the fact that within legal reason Obama should've been allowed to appoint. It won by one judge. Ain't that a shocker though.
Why would the Supreme court need to be bribed? How could you bribe them. They are elected for life, so it's not like they need to campaign like politicians do to stay in office. They have very high incomes, so they already have pretty much everything they need. Their job is to uphold the constitution, despite their political beliefs, and you'll often see them vote against things they personally believe in, because to get their job you have to prove that you can see beyond party lines; just to be nominated.

Sigh... as an atheist, I can say with some certainty that yes, if you take the stories of the Bible literally some of them are pretty stupid and nonsensical. If you take them as allegory, on the other hand, they offer a lot of insight into human nature. The story of Adam and Eve, for instance, is an allegory for the transition from ignorance/innocence to knowledge, and the price we pay for gaining such knowledge. It’s not just about two naked people who get tricked by a snake (which had legs... because god took away its legs only after it tempted Eve... but whatever. Allegory). Like all mythology, the stories aren’t bad; it’s the people (like Duterte) who misunderstand or misinterpret then. That’s probably why the Bible is still so highly regarded after over 2000 years.

Actually, now I think this Duterte guy is smart. He noticed that religious tradition is wrong...but don't blame it on God! The Bible never says that Adam and Eve were sinless, and it never says that the world was different than it is now. Religious tradition says this stuff, but the Bible doesn't actually say it.
