Finally, the day had arrived I was heading back across the Caribbean once again. But this time to an island I'd not yet visited until now, Cuba. The Caribbean is one of my favourite areas in the world and so far I've not been disappointed by any of the islands I've visited. There's just something special about heading longhaul over to the tropics that makes holidaying over there so much better.
Not particularly the best day for flying across the Atlantic as you'll see in the video. A beautiful morning at Gatwick, very few clouds around. However once well on the way, over the Atlantic the Captain must have been rather aware of some turbulent in our path towards Holguin. So some 2 hours before landing the crew were requested to complete their onboard sales duties so everything was cleared up before reaching this bad weather. You can hear the crew and indeed the captain mention the turbulent weather they predict up ahead along route. However I can only assume what we experienced was not nearly as bad as they were anticipating. The seat belt signs were illuminated for quite some time, but there wasn't much turbulence at all. So all was fine, a little bit of drama for no reason really. Quite honestly I was looking forward to having a bit of a bumpy ride, but it didn't seem we had much turbulence at all. That's the unpredictability of the tropical weather systems I guess. A rather grey, overcast afternoon in the North East of Cuba but no rain at Holguin itself and quite good visibility allowing me to see the airport while on base, before turning onto the approach.
Over all the flight was pretty good. This aircraft G-TCXC is Thomas Cook's newest addition to their longhaul fleet only delivered to them from previous owner Avianca on April 29th this year! So a very newly refurbished and repainted aircraft, less than a month old under its new operator. Comfy seats and lots of legroom which was great. One thing I did find a little disappointing was the entertainment system. Only 4 movies to chose from, if you wanted more you had to pay a supplement to upgrade your entertainment system. Only 4 movies on an aircraft that crosses the Atlantic on a daily basis isn't very good based on my experience with other leisure and low cost airlines. But overall not a bad experience with Thomas Cook and a fantastic holiday in Cuba. A beautiful island, with fantastic people and scenery that you could not get anywhere but the Caribbean.

If you're considering a trip to Cuba I highly recommend it, an experience and island like no other.
Quite pleased to have flown on Thomas Cook's newest A330, very sleek, clean looking interior which is very good and always a good flight on an A330. Rolls Royce engines always give a good performance!
A word of warning to all of you, if you're flying on a newly refurbished Thomas Cook A330 seat 13K does NOT have a window, so don't book that one or you'll be sat staring blankly at a wall. Also on the adjacent side, row 14A does not have a window.
As always with my entire series of *Full Flight videos I do not literally mean over 9 hours of continuous video of nothing but sky across the Atlantic. By Full Flight I mean this video includes all stages of the flight from Boarding until Disembarkation, not 9 hours of nothing. If that's what you're after you've come to the wrong UA-cam channel I'm afraid :)
Thanks for watching

omg going to the same airport, same plane and same place tomorrow!
Can't wait
I've been to Cuba for 6 years running we go to the playa pesquero hotel an hours drive from holguin, it's a fantastic country and I love it! We are going again at the end of July from Manchester with Thomas Cook. I love this video it's made me even more excited for the flight back
I stayed at that hotel almost 8 years ago. A hurricane damaged some of the property about a week before my arrival, but it was already being cleaned up (almost fully done so by the time I left Holguin). One advantage of this was that most of the tourists cancelled their trips there, so during much of the time I was there, just 135 tourists (mainly Canadian like myself), had the 4,000+ occupancy hotel virtually to ourselves. It was a good experience and I wouldn't mind going again.
I flew from YYZ-HOG in October 2008; I've never forgotten the "Socialismo O Muerte" sign painted the whole way across the fence opposite the runway.
one very good flight , Thanks Matt
My favorite plane with those wonderful Trent 700 engines
Excellent video as always Matt, great description as well, Andy
I love the size of the a330 at this airport lol lovely video as always mate!
I'm literally home from Cuba! Must have just missed ya, hope you enjoy it!
We're flying to Holguin in September, like you with Thomas Cook (but from Manchester). What surprises me is the final approach. It's like flying into RAF Cosford but with a longer runway!I didn't expect that.
OMG DID YOU GO ON THE 26TH
Excellent video
Hello, I heard you can see Manhatten Skyline on the trip back from Holguin to Gatwick, you need to include this on the night time return flight.
Really awesome video mate!
what hotel did you stay in? i remember doing this flight 4 times on the Thomas cook a330 but we had to go from Gatwick - Havanna then to Holguin as the plane didn't have enough fuel, but its a long flight, especially when u have to get off the plane and wait at the airport for 2 hrs, they even made the airline take all the luggage off the plane, just to put them back on again! I also remember the runway being extremely bumpy, was it?
Hi there, great video! May I ask what the cabin pressure is like on this plane? I'll be travelling on this flight with slight breathing difficulties. Should I be fine??
Nice video 🇨🇺
I prefer the look of these to the 787
Good video
Omg 09:30 that monarch plane its so weird to think that that a321 would be in service by thomas cook
good job
I'm going to Cuba next June with Thomas cook in premium class, how was this flight?
i love it
dude if you have just arrived (We have came back today ) Honestly your flight is basically delayed it takes ages for them to open the gates
They just started service to Boston on the a332
This the same one you sent pictures of to Simon, chief..?
I thought all the Thomas Cook A330 fleet had been consigned to an air museum because they are all old.
What a brainless comment.
@@aviationlba747 made that comment "three" years ago and I stand by it.
@@michaelflaherty1358 You thought that a fleet of still relatively young A330s would be sent to museums ‘because they are old’?
I hope there is spotting video
i have a trip booked with thomas cook and pre booked 13k is their no window at all for this seat (couldnt quite see from your clip but saw in your comments) i may look at changing my seat
thanks
No there's no window at all D:
ohh well i think i will be changing my seat booking then trhanks for that
was there a widow on the rows behind your seat?
conor MWH Yeah this was taken from row 14. There's one window. You do still kinda need to lean forward to see out of it.
so if i rebook for row 15 it should be okay?
we used to fly with thomas cook when i were younger but now we fly with ryanair i cant really remember much from my thomas cook experiance except from ordering a kids meal pizza but when it came it came with spicy pepperoni and i hope they have sorted that other tahn that i liked it but i still préféré ( prefer ) ( ive just been doing french ) Ryanair
Lilly-mae Lawton Did u no Ryan air has had 12 crashes in U.K.
@@macymcgonigle5781 Ryanair has never had a fatality, what are you on about?
So it took you 53 minutes to fly from London to Cuba!? Wow!!! Full flight lol
Death Bat115 it means the main features of the flight (your telling me you would sit through an 8 hour video?)
@@harleyrobertson5646 Yes, it's safe to say that he took breaks from videoing, stopping to go to the toilet, to watch movies, to eat (aside from taking a quick video of dinner first), and to sleep. There were numerous noticable skips in the video where he took his breaks. I agree, 8 hours would be too long to watch.
How long was the flight
A little over 9 hours.
10:39😍
5:31 what the heck is that sound
It was just the slats being extended. Look at the leading edge of the wing.
Takes ages for the aircraft to get to cruise altitude
zzzzzzzz🌰
My Volvo 340's almost exactly 30 years older than this plane (its 30th is in September) :)
Airbus a330-243 😃
First
i hate it when people clap on landing its so dumb
Soo true lol
IKR cuase what if the plane overuns
Not really people are happy they have landed at their destination
And because they got there safe
They only do it on low-cost and charter flights. But you´re right it´s so dumb. Do they also clap when the train driver stops at a station... No. So why do it when the aircraft lands?
