  • It's not pretty. It's our current electrical system - pun intended.
Since I am busy troubleshooting a failing inverter this weekend, I thought I'd take the opportunity to also walk through how the electrical is set up round here. #offgrid #offgridlife #offgridpower

    FYI:
Copied from Vevor 6000 watt inverter owners (online) manual: (I suspect #4 may be your situation - Not 100% sure - just a first impression guess)
    Protective Functions
    1. Overload protection: when overloading 125%, the inverter will send an alarm, and stop working after 20 seconds.
When loads are reduced to the accepted level, the inverter will resume working.
    2. Short circuit protection: inverter is with short circuit protection.
    3. Over-temperature protection: when the inside temperature of the inverter reaches 80℃, the RED indication light will be on. The inverter will stop working, once the temperature drops
to an accepted level, the inverter will automatically resume working.
4.. Low voltage protection: when the battery voltage is below the setting level, the inverter will send an alarm by beeping. When the battery voltage keeps dropping to its shutting level,
the inverter will beep, and the RED LED will light. When the battery voltage is increased to its restart level, the inverter will automatically resume working.
    5. Overvoltage protection: when the input voltage is higher than the setting level, the inverter will stop working, when the input voltage is normal, it will automatically resume working.
If you think that the unit might be bad, then suggest that you try the Vevor chat line for their advice,

Hi that inverter can damage your fridge. Look over your house wiring make sure nothing is cross and get a new inverter the mosfets on that inverter is going out. It serve it time

Low inverter output voltage could be caused by low input voltage and the inverters (both) have an automatic low voltage cutout feature that resets when the battery voltage recovers a bit. Best advice I can give without taking voltage reading at critical points, is to check all battery cable connections to make sure they are tight and clean. Very often a simple loose connection is the main problem. Do you have a voltage tester of some sort if we need to do some point to point readings later on. Anyway, for now please check all the cable connections and see if that helps. If so then OK. I not, then we can try some other ideas with your voltage tester. Don't forget to check the inverter manual, which may have some troubleshooting hints as well. I wait your reply.

I do have a voltmeter. I’ll check connections and go from there. Thanks, again!

@@windyhomestead --You are welcome - I am more than happy to help a "damsel in distress". At 85, I've been retired for nearly 20 years now and am constantly on the lookout for new challanges to keep me busy. Please keep me posted on your progress (that will be my reward) and I may have a few more suggestions down the line to improve your power system. One other thing that I gleaned from your video is that your oven "kills" the battery. Shouldn't do that - Your battery is rated 80ah which means it should produce more than enough current for the oven assuming the batteries (and connections) are in good working order. (s) TerryE p.s. Is your email (from your website) still valid?

Hi again! Yes, the email works. I just only get to check it once per weekday at best. With regard to the oven- it’s just the initial surge of power from turning on the “preheat”. Separately- I did find a questionable connection on the battery bank, worse yet, The batteries are leaking a clear fluid. Thank you, again, for all your guidance!

@@windyhomestead _ Mornin' - Leaking? Cracked case or just some moisture forming on top of batteries?? If moisture is forming on top it's possible they are being overcharged. You may want to try adjusting the charging voltage down a bit. Instructions are on page 7 (Section 4.3) of the owners manual. Do you check the water level from time to time? If the case is cracked, then you might want to replace them as soon as you can. . How old are they? - Normal life is 3-5 years but can last longer with regular maintenance. By any chance was the questionable connecion on the #3 battery negative post? (hard to tell from the video, fuzzy but looked sketchy) Oh, one other thing - I don't know very much about your inverter but did note that there are a series of replaceabe fuses that might be a good idea to check them. You have to remove the cover to inspect them.
      Back to ya' TerryE
p.s. Sorry about so many questions but there are lots of possibilities , any one of which may be the cause of your proplem.

@@cottonpreppinpoor2709 Thank you for the help! I do, indeed, have fluid leaking from the batteries. Much appreciated.
