I have also thought about it and I think it's because they usually made this big structures as a power demonstration building or to praise some gods with many many resources being used to build up all of that, and in the end it's not very welcoming for everyone, not everyone could live inside these temples. Nowadays, with modern thoughts, we try to avoid wasting too many resources on things that will not bring a source of money back, instead, they prefer to use the correct amount of resource to build appartaments and houses and then they sell these.
its obvious to some... there were ancient technology's available to a prior hominid...apparently it was a solar flare and not an asteroid that wiped most of them out and allowed another people to rebuild things .Thanks to Praveen ..its more great content..
Indeed these carvings and sculptures are very unique and rare . One can hardly make out anything, hard to decipher too . Some of them are scary too !!? Yet it was very very interesting to see . Thanks for publicity ( making everyone watch it ). Done a great job .
With all the latest and greatest technology and tools why don't we see any structures or even any art that stands out like this today

Those rings on the pillars look like groove's on a record. You could put a needle on it and turn it like a record player.

So thanks for explanations
And the textbooks wants me to believe that all these was made by a wood Hammer and a copper chisel ! Ok !
