- Finally! I have discovered how to make easy honey straws!!!
I have made honey sticks for years but our method has been tedious and slow. I have been in contact with Tony and Adam at Anthony's Beehive and obtained two different honey stick filling machines from them. In this video I show 3 different ways to fill the straws. Tony and Adam have created a couple of really nice products and have been very great to work with. They have helped me through the process of trying these machines. It has been an enjoyable experience!

Anybody got an idea how to fill them using an air compressor?
Get a stainless tube that fits inside the straws you want to fill. Seal one end of straw. Draw out of straw as you put honey under pressure into the straw. Use a valve to stop honey under pressure. Or make a honey pump using a stepper motor and wheel with rollers on silicone tube. It may need pressure behind honey. Control the motor to meter the correct amount. I'll bet chemical companies sell metering pumps. Then you can fill a row of straws in a holder and seal simultaneously. Enjoy.
Did you watch the video? I have seen the machines you are talking about but this is an entirely different setup. Thanks for the comment though.
Game changer comparing to one-at-a-timing, but still so so so slow. 6 per hour, 2000 after working all day long? What kind of inventor didn't think to build a sealer right into the machine? Actually funny seeing all the ways to improve this, and the no brainer things that almost everyone in the world would have done when making. Love to see how much burnt honey is on the back of that sealer after like a month.
I think those kind of machines are available but like $20K. I don’t make enough straws to justify that. For now this works well for me. When you develop and produce your improved and affordable machine let me know and I will check it out.
That was a runny fart you did at 8.32 in the video I know Bruce it was the machine 😅
Haha.😳 Yes. It was the syringe😂😂
I’ve been looking at the Anthony’s one for a while and finally ordered one when tax return hit but yet to hear anything about it or when it’ll come. Little nervous cause I’ve seen so many say they’ve paid and not gotten one. That the owner doesn’t answer messages or anything. They took the money right away too 🙈 I’m so hopeful of it coming.
I will see what I can do. Why name did you order it under?
@@brucesbees Krista Lewis thank you for the help!
We have the same issue. Ordered in April. Cannot reach the company at all. Emailed, called (VM full), FB message, text, just get no reply. It's been 4 months and I'm starting to think we got scammed by Anthony's.
What name did you order under. Will see what I can do.

Dear sirs what prices this machine can you send address I can buy send modke no thank you Mr godil from Pakistan karachi
Link is in the description.
Bruce, outstanding video and presentation!! Great job!! Those are both great looking machines. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Randall!
Pretty nice machines. He’s got the corner on the market for sure. I look at them every year and have yet to justify the cost. Loading that big wheel takes about the same time for me to fill about 30 straws by hand, so I keep telling myself I’m saving money😁😂. I like his sealer. As mine is starting to be less efficient, I might need to look up that brand of sealer. I also made a straw holder from wood so I can seal multiple straws. I think that’s where the time savings really comes in. Thanks for sharing this review Bruce!
Link to the sealer: a.co/d/eyBDzii. I think once you get set up and in a rhythm could probably do a run of 40 straws with the Goldrush machine every 10 to 15 minutes. Would be much faster with 2 people. The Honey Stream is also pretty quick I would say. I like the machines. Filling straws by hand can be so tedious. There is definitely a learning curve though. Especially with the larger machine.
Wonderful review of the Goldrush Machine.
Once you figured everything out (honey temp, straw installation and tube adjustments), on average how many straws would you say could be filled and sealed in an hour?
If there is more honey in the hub than what straws can take, does the honey seep out until adding another batch of straws? Or is there an auto closure in hub to prevent leakage?
My wife and I did 320 straws in a couple of hours one night. Yes if overfilled will seep. It can be a little messy but works well for the most part. The actual filling of the states is very fast. The sealing and loading /unloading of the machine are what take the most time.
And we had one straw that was not sealed good the last time we made straws. And they turned into a mess. But that has only happened a time or two.
You could pour your honey into the syringe instead of trying to draw your honey into the syringe.
I started doing that and it definitely works better. Thanks for checking in!
Oh dear. I do appreciate your fine motives, but you're taking one of nature's greatest gifts and putting it in something that takes almost forever to break down and return to the environment. Many countries, including mine (Australia) are outlawing plastic straws, because they're just another piece of garbage that is almost impossible to recycle.
Thanks for checking in.
Useless and foolish virtue signaling, the gullible are so easily brainwashed! 🤦
With the one that uses the nitrogen, make sure when you buy new cartridges that they are food grade cartridges.
Fun fact: There's a good chance the same oxygen/nitrogen supplier that does your local welding supplier does your local hospitals.
Interesting, I don't think I've ever heard of honey straws before, thanks! :)
Great overview of several methods. We have always used the manual method but we may upgrade to a more semi automated processing like you demonstrated soon. Thanks Bruce.
If you sell a lot of straws it is worth it. Both machines simplify the process. Of course the larger Goldrush machine is a big investment but speeds things up dramatically once the process is figured out.
Catching it on replay! Very cool!
Thanks for watching Lisa!
That is so darn slick, Bruce. Sat watching with my wife.
Glad you enjoyed it my friend. Pretty cool machines.
@brucesbees That definitely is. It runs so smoothly. Maybe after i get my bottling tank.
Why couldn’t a guy fill one long line of hose and then seal and cut instead of a bunch of short straws?
I guess that could work. Not sure where you would find those kind of straws.
@@brucesbees I just got my first nuc so I’m a long ways away from trying anything like that. Thanks
Where can I get that machine
Details are in the description to the video. Along with a discount code. Thanks
Great video Bruce!
I've been contemplating doing Honey straws for a while now.
Still not sure I want to add them to my product line up, but I have seen this Gold Rush filling machine, and definitely think if someone's wanting to do them on more than just a small scale, this is definitely the machine to get.
Thanks for sharing
Yes if you need to do a lot of them it is a good way to go. The smaller machine is also really good if wanting to make straws on a smaller scale.
How many straws per batch
Hey man. 40 per batch on the large Goldrush machine.
Great video! I wish I had thought to do this for Rosh Hashanah, it would make great gifts. Maybe next year.
Yes! People love the honey straws.
I got my Gold Rush honey stick filling machine and WOW!!! Its simple, yet brilliant, design make it so easy to use and it's super efficient! I timed everything out and once the initial set-up is completed it takes approximately 12 minutes to fill 40 straws; 4 minutes to load the straws, 4 minutes to fill the straws when the machine runs, and 4 minutes to remove the filled straws. I filled 640 straws in under 4 hours (this didn't include sealing them, which I did the following day). I'm so happy with this machine!!!!!! Thanks for the video Bruce - you took all the guesswork out of the set up, and thanks to you there was very little learning curve to tackle.
Awesome. Glad it worked out for you!
I've seen other honey stick machines that were not impressive but the goldrush machine looks like it might be one to consider. I'm still wondering though with the cost of the machine and labor is it worth buying honey sticks prefilled.
That is a decision you will have to weigh and decide. If you sell a lot of straws I think it is worth it. Plus it is your own honey. If not then the smaller machine might be worth considering.
are you going to the almonds next year?
No. No plans to do that in the near future. Stayed home this year and it worked out better for me.
@@brucesbees I went last year, going to try staying on this side of the Rockies, fla to Maine, and see if I can make the same profit
That's how yall do those lol😅
Hey Bruce - long-time watcher here. I was so impressed with the Gold Rush honey stick filling machine in your video, that I immediately ordered one (using your discount code - thank you!). It was ordered and paid for ($$$$$) early February. No word from the seller except for one email response (after me sending him several asking for the status). On Feb 26 Tony Schwager stated he would ship it on 2/29. No word since then, no response to my multiple requests for updates, and no way of getting in contact with anyone there. I read in one of the posts here that another person was experiencing the same thing and it appeared you were able to intervene? I'm hoping you can maybe assist in my case, as well - or perhaps provide some guidance. Thanks in advance - Sheryl
Let me see what I can do.
@@brucesbees Thank you!!!!!
He told me he was gonna take care of it. Hopefully you will receive it soon.
@@brucesbees I can't thank you enough, Bruce. Very much appreciated - you're the BEST!
You’re welcome. There is a learning curve with the machine but once you get a system figured out it goes quickly.
Always wondered how those are made!!! That’s Bruce…
Thanks for watching Rickey. Lots of ways to do it. Is nice to finally have a way to do it more quickly.
I made these exactly as you did in the beginning only difference was I built a 10 straw holder. Nice upgrade.
Yes the rack really helps.
You rated both fillers as good products. How do you rate the cost of the product. Love seeing your reviews but it would be nice to have a cost evaluation and know if the review is sponsored by the company giving you the product or if you paid for it. Thanks. Love your videos Bruce you are one of the most genuine ones out there. .
I paid full price for the big machine. The smaller machine was included in the deal. Brand new product. Honest review. I think both products are worth the price depending on what your goals are. Especially with the 10% discount.
❤ it's good to keep the honey raw
After seeing the honey stick machine at Hive life I found this brand and was very tempted to buy it since it was half the price of the one at Hive life. Now that I know someone who's has used it I'll be getting one. Thanks for being the Guinea pig.... Great video!
Thanks Richard. Be sure to use the code. 10 percent is significant. There is a learning curve but it is pretty darn cool. Jamey Wynn has had one for awhile and likes it. I had already talked to him about it. They were a little hard to get ahold of until recently. They are able to produce them faster now. It has been kind of fun working through the process with Tony and Adam. Good folks.
Instead of pulling the honey into the syringe, perhaps removing the plunger and filling it from that end may be easier?
I think that is a great idea. Thanks for the tip.
Dream Big brother 🙏
I like that canister machine better. You got less moving parts and doesn’t take up near the space and less to clean.
Yeah it’s a nice machine for all of the reasons you mentioned. If not needing to make a whole bunch of straws, or not in too much of a hurry. Then it would be great.
Whats up with the maker of the Honey straw machine. Ordered and paid for on 9/25/23. No response to phone calls and text messages. Disappointed Disappointed
Hmm I don’t know. I sent him a message.
Another week goes by and still no Response from Honeystickfiller.
What a lousy company that they can not return a phone call, text message or email.
I'm starting to think they just took my money and ran.
amazing..nice 1 sir
Really cool stuff!!! Thanks Bruce!!
Thanks for checking in my friend!
Nice!
Thanks for checking in Laryssa!
The 2nd machine is similar to a fresh cream dispenser.
Interesting. Hasn’t thought of that. It’s kind of fun to use.
Hello Bruce
Edit: Fedex brought our machine 16 days after the date Tony said he would ship. The machine works great after 2 batches, so we are now happy. Still would have liked to be supplied with a tracking number. Tony must have a day job which would explain his sparse communication. I paid for the product 1 hour after he invoiced me August 7th. When he sent the invoice he said he would be shipping on Thursday. After a couple of emails asking for a tracking number, he finally sent me an email stating he was having some production problems but would ship September 6th. I followed up after the 6th asking for a tracking number, no response but the machine has finally been delivered 16 days after the date he said he would ship.
Hmm that’s strange. Let me see what I can do.
@@brucesbees Thanks it looks like a great product and my wife is excited to use it. It doesn't seem like providing a tracking number is to much to ask. We are retired and on a fixed income except what our beekeeping adds in and can't afford to lay out that much money and not be able to put it to work.
@@brucesbees Fedex just brought our honeystick machine. We have set it up and it works great! Given the timing of the delivery, we can't help but suspect your efforts had something to do with the delivery of our machine, Thanks ever so much for your help.
@kenseng4937 👍😉😎
Thanks Bruce. What's the going rate for a honey straw? Are most folks selling 4x for a dollar or 2x for a dollar?
Retail I sell them for $1 apiece. Minimum order of 50 they are .40 apiece. Prices vary though I’m sure depending on location.
Local festival's 4 for a dollar.
Free if I think it'll shut someone loud up.
Prices vary in sure from place to place.
Good idea for fusion honey straws.
Yes. I think so.
Good video lots of info
Thanks for watching!
awesome
Thanks for watching Mark!
Great review
Thank you.
How much do you get for a straw ?
I am always a hesitant to answer pricing questions because it can vary depending on location and individual situation. But I sell them for $1 apiece or .40 apiece for 50+.
Never seen them. Thanks !!@@brucesbees
@@brucesbees Well, now you've got me rethinking selling Honey straws. I understand you not wanting to share a price because of market differences, but that was helpful to see what someone could potentially get per straw.
Now that you've got me thinking about doing Honey straws, I could see myself doing maybe a 6 pack for $5. Not sure I would sell them as singles since I believe (at least Texas law) they would need to be labeled according to the label laws. Labeling a bundle of 5 or 6, etc. wouldn't be so bad, but labeling each individual straw would really cut into profits.
@TexasBeekeeper yeah I’m not sure what the law says on that. You could put them in a jar with the specs per straw on a label on the jar. It something like that. I have never worried about it
I had a company reach out to me back in 2019 wanting to send me this complete set up and they totally flaked on me. Nice to see yours in action.
Not sure what happened then but I have been dealing with Tony and Adam directly. The Goldrush production process has been greatly streamlined so the product is more readily available. The brand new Honey Stream machine shown in the last segment of the video is also very cool. And more affordable.
Cool idea!! Thx.
Off topic, I have a question Bruce. I’ve been having lots of trouble Requeening one of my hives. They have killed three new queens. So with the fourth and hopefully last queen, I’ve let them become hopelessly queenless. No larva are left. Removed all attempts at queen cells. Then caged the queen over some honey and capped brood using a 4”x4”pushin cage. She will stay in there for five days so she can start laying and increase her pheromones. My question is, will the bees in the hive feed her through the hardware close wire? I would assume so but wanted to ask.
Any other tips? Grateful for you. Brad
Yes they should.
No other tips really. I think you have a good plan. Some colonies seem to be more difficult to requeen than others. Be sure to tear down any cells before releasing.
@@brucesbees I most certainly well. Yet I doubt they have any because they have been queenless for 14 days. Thx always. Grateful
Why do you produce so much plastic waste? Here in Germany there are small 30g (0,06614 lbs) glasses that can be used again and again.
Sounds interesting.
How much did that unit coast
