What an awesome video...this is a car that I admire, its mature looks & design, its symmetrical all wheel drive, it's interior space, it's safety features and its Naturally aspirated(NA) engine (No turbo's for me); it's just a car that works, but that's the thing..."when it works", and it is for this reason that I'd let it remain just that, a car that I admire not one that I will want to own. The Mazda on the other hand, it's simple, I won't touch a diesel turbo especially in Kenya. Between the two vehicles, which one would I rather have...well none...what I'd own is a very clean unit of a Mark X. The Subaru is a good car but: - When they say Subaru's are well built vehicle, there's a price that comes with that, and that price is, "the Cost of genuine Subaru Spare parts." Especially when you said that it shares the same front end with a Subaru Outback (a good vehicle) but the parts...Woi!...EXPENSIVE is an understatement (As an example, should a CV joint go bad (which they do eventually) or the rubber boot tears and spills all the grease from the CV joint while at the same time allowing contaminants in, which will lead to the eventual failure of the CV joint and you'll need to replace the whole thing, don't be surprised if it costs you in excess of Ksh 75,000/= to get a whole single unit with its components, genuine Subaru drive shaft, now with the All wheel drive system, there are 4 of them.) - The Subaru Eye sight system is a very decent safety feature, but should anything happen to your windscreen, getting a genuine Subaru windscreen compatible with the Eye sight system will dig a hole in your bank account. - The Subaru's have been known to suffer from failed steering rack and CVT gearbox (manufacturers design), should either of the two go bad...all the best. - Because of the body's well build design, it's all wheel drive system, its engine and safety features, it ends up being a heavier than normal vehicle compared to its competitors, and with the state of the roads in Kenya, don't be too surprised to be replacing some components like Bushes more often (of course depending on how you use the vehicle), Brake pads, Brake discs etc and these parts...well i don't have to explain the cost of genuine ones. NB: This is not a post to discourage people from owning a Subaru, Subaru's are very well built vehicles and very sturdy on the roads, making them very good vehicles to be used in the city, long-road trips and even when you go off-road to an extent...they just work, and are very good at it. But to keep it that way, also be ready for what it comes to maintain them. You do that and I doubt if you'll find a reason to complain about that vehicle. -Most people get into Subaru ownership without knowing what it really takes, that buying it is only the first step, the journey and how it will end will mainly depend on how you maintain it, that will either make you absolutely hate it or absolutely love it at the end of the journey/day. The point is to know what you are getting into, if you decide to own one of these lovely vehicles. Good day.
All these are based on the myths and misconceptions of the 90s regarding subarus. The parts that are expensive are only for the performance models. Eyesight and windscreen compatibility has never been an issue. Subarus have come to be more reliable these days and replacing parts very often is just a misconception. However, it is a heavy car and thus slow acceleration (For NA) and more fuel consumption.
Honest opinions bt still i loves the 2011 and 2012 sh they are yje best subaru forestets for me, because i know nothing about sjg bt so far compared to tiguan cvr xtrail or cx5 for me its the sh especially th s-edition
Your reviews have gotten better, I've actually enjoyed watching. Am a Subaru fan 10/10, but I think the Atenza has better aesthetics and the interior is more appealing. This Subaru is so simple though.
The 4th Generation BP/BL remains the best looking legacy so far. Also, as a Subaru diehard and legacy owner, I think, the Atenza looks better and doesn't have a CVT. I'd choose the Atenza petrol.
As someone who admires both the Subaru Legacy B4 and the Atenza, this video felt more like an Atenza dis-track than an objective review. For the sake of comparison here are a few facts: Atenza sedan boot space: 484 Ltrs, Legacy: 425 Ltrs. Atenza horsepower: 175, Legacy horsepower: 175. Atenza torque: 420Nm, Legacy torque: 236Nm. The Atenza also has a better sound system, and better looks. Finally, value for money:2015 Atenza is approx 1.6M KES, 2015 Legacy: 2.6M. For me the Legacy beats the Atenza on the AWD system, ground clearance (which can be easily fixed), and NVH score. IMO, these don't justify a 1M price difference. PS: Quoting boot space in actual figures is more informative and accurate than bundling in humans. Do better next time.
@@kngberry do not post such uncouth answers when you are not posting detailed info to rival his answer. he has given real metric measures which is something one should look for when checking car reviews or interested in buying one especially the boot space, fitting an individual inside cannot give concrete evidence that the boot space is large on face value.

Hello Fred, perhaps I'm at this exact spot you were in 3 months ago. Just to ask, how are you finding your car, if you did go ahead and make a purchase? How is the performance of the CVT option? Is it something worth going for? Thanks!
I would go for Mazda Atenza considering the fact that is cheaper than the subaru and the fuel economy is affordable unlike the subaru..Atenza is a performance car and the aggressive look is insane .Considering it is a 7 speed transmission and the sound quality Bose speakers for the finest music .The subaru might have won over the Atenza on the all wheel drive and speed . Also it might have a higher power than the Atenza but that doesnt justify the higher price and higher cost of maintainance of the subaru. The Atenza equiped with the kodo design language and the classic interior is undisputable.Atenza all the way....For better clarification watch the mazda Atenza review by Wokabi in carnversation As for me ...Atenza is the game changer ....
