The Mark X loses a lot on getting stuck on slippery surfaces like grass and gravel and being very thirsty, which are deal breakers for a lot of people.
Mark X , 2.5L gets regularly 14.5kpl on the highway for me. Real life. If you decide to push down the "Sports Mode" so that it dashes and pushes your head back onto the seat at breakneck acceleration weaving through traffic and overtaking like lightning - your consumption goes down to 10kpl on the highway. If we had some real good Expressways between Mombasa - Nairobi - Kisumu, etc the bigger engined cars would be the best option to use for travels, hoping they allow inner lanes to operate between 140-150kph. They don't tire easily.
Appreciate the review. I would go for the smaller rim where possible. The tire profile will be larger and will have more shock absorption and a better ride especially on the Kenyan roads.

Great job as always. Always loved the sound of the V6 from the very first time I drove one in 2011.Actually the Atenza featured sits on 19s. The 3.0V6 was only found in the GRX 121 series with 3GR-FSE with 252bhp and 314 Nm of torque. For the GRX 133 the 2GR-FSE churns out 312bhp and 380Nm of torque. With the limited Modellista of the same that is supercharged numbers jumped to 355bhp and 497Nm of torque. Keep up the great work!
I've seen this mazda skyactiv supercharged. The numbers are around 300 whp. There's some videos here on UA-cam. Its pretty great for a lightweight 4 banger

I agree as a 1st generation owner the bumper chapas really bad and its weak,you have to facelift it to have a strong nicer looking one,thou I'm still with Grx120 I say its for the Streets🥵,Grx130 is for class😎
I have owned both altenza and Mark x , will tell you Mark X is a dope it easily get stuck, very bad fuel economy some how unreliable and hard engine to fix when broken. Altenza is faster more stable and more reliable according to my experience
Mark X 2.5 V6 is just super punchy and liquid smooth from idle to redline. The shoot off from standstill is immediate and impressively strong. And it sounds lovely! Mazda 6 2.5 is not slow but it's relatively gruff sounding and especially coarse to redline...
Will there be a 3rd Gen Mark X? I think not. It's outdated. Production ended in 2019. The Mazda6/Atenza was discontinued in North America but is still very much alive in all other markets. Mazda 6 is on its 3rd Gen and with good prospects for the name plate to continue onto other generations.
Current mark x's have V6 VVTI engines that are fuel efficient. Mark X makes 15KM/L on high way. Mark x consumes alot of fuel at low speeds but consumes less fuel on high speeds.
Mark x ni gari 💯Atenza is a nice car and looks good also but its not in any league to Toyota's Perfection and engineering levels in regards to a mark x ..Legend still has it that Mark x is a special car even in Japan it reigns supreme in performance and speed ..not to mention the versatility it offers in terms of modification and dynamics related to options availability you can't really do much to mazda atenza due to complex technology and other Limitations. l think apart from this you guys should put Toyota Mark X (or Toyota Crown per sey) head to head with Nissan Skyline in terms of performance and see who is supreme.. am a toyota die hard fan but justice was not done to the Mazda Atenza manzee😂

Get a Racebox to do the timer for you. Its automatic and not that expensive and makes sure you get accurate results. Not results based on how fast a finger can press. The Atenza hits 8.4seconds and the Mark x 8.4 seconds. How you got +3seconds is funny 😂😂😂
Atenza Wins in one major area, fuel economy, the Mark X V6 Engine gives it power but it's a major weakness in the market due to consumption. . What Wokabi is not telling us as you say there more powerful mark X, there more fuel efficient Atenza, the diesel that makes up to 19-20KM/l... and a toque of 420nm.... in Kenyan market, fuel is a major factor and that why Mark X is cheaper. You should give facts about the two cars, when u take sides of Coz you will beat Ibrahim coz you know more about cars... Actually, you should get someone else to defend Atenza for a fairer arguement

2.5L is a disservice to mark X. Four cylinders for that trim is a joke. I have always thought a mark x ONLY comes in 3.0L/3.5L/3.6L 6cylinder V6. I guess that's what kenyan market offer. I think it's an equivalence of a Toyota Camry in North America.
Toyota Mark X is pronounced as "Toyota Mark Ten" , its roman labeled, for instance there was a "Mark II" pronounced as a "Mark Two"
