  • The StreetStrider gives you the combined benefits of jogging, skiing and cycling, but without the physical stress on your joints and body. The outdoor elliptical motion is described as ‘running on air’, and the Indoor Trainer Stand allows you to transform your StreetStrider into a stationary elliptical in seconds. Your workout has never been this fun!

I recieved the 8s a few days ago. The bottom of the box was busted. The rear tire wouldn't spin freely. Three members of my family attempted to ride. We all had extreme difficulty getting it to move forward. It took several days to get a hold of customer service. Finally, spoke with a rep to return it. I paid $2584.92. Ultimately, I'm out $329 for their "white glove service" assembly fee. Plus, a 10% ($258) restocking fee. Also, I have to pay for shipping which I can imagine will be no less than $200 considering the package weighs over eighty pounds. I recommend not buying unless you can test ride it first.

I own one, and there is one downside to using it indoors. You get a much better core workout outdoors because you will be engaging your core muscles to keep the vehicle straight -- which you won't get using the indoor trainer stand. Otherwise, it offers the best workout ever. Here are the benefits I find:
    - Allows FULL leg extension for working out maximum range of muscle (unlike bicycles)
    - Placing your feet all the way back on the platform (so you’re leaning forward) allows you to mimic the physical range of sprinting, without having to actually sprint
    - Placing your feet all the way up front on the platform (so you’re fully upright) emulates jogging; i.e. you can get your muscles worked out at different angles
    - Resisting your natural tendency to zigzag works out your CORE muscles in addition to your arms and legs (unlike stationary ellipticals)
    - Because you hold the handgrips much tighter than you do on a bicycle, you will get a much better forearm and wrist workout
    - If your legs are tired you can concentrate more on your arms (and vice versa)
    - When concentrating more on arms, you can focus more on either the pushing motion or on the pulling motion, again focusing more on which muscles you want to concentrate on (pushing also engages the chest, while pulling engages your upper back)
    - Elliptical pattern of the stride feels much more natural than the circular pattern of a bicycle
    - Low-impact workout is easier on your knees, ankles, and hips
    - SUPER FUN!

Yeah, but can it go on mountain bike trails as a bike can?
How about fitting into a bike rack to lock it up while doing errands?
Or how about doing really long trips like on a bike?
And how about when, not if, when it breaks down? Can you fix anything yourself and save tons of money?
You have to be rich to own and maintain one of these overrated hunks of junk.

@@timothy3732 If that's what you're looking for, then I suggest you get a regular bike. Sounds like the StreetStrider is not for you, if those other things are such a concern. That's okay, everyone has different priorities when making a purchase. I'm not rich (I drive a shuttle bus for a living), but I've owned one for four years (since March 2017) and ride it 3-4 times a week. Personally, I feel like I've saved time and money vs. purchasing a gym membership and driving back and forth to the gym. The maintenance cost over the four years I've had it has been reasonable to me. I don't think I would be as consistent with my workouts had it not been for my StreetStrider (I ride a 13-mile route down and back up the coast to and from the Huntington Beach Pier -- the women and the scenery are worth it!). In the past I've always got burnt out on gym memberships and wasted my money. Riding the Strider is fun, and there's never lack of motivation to take it for a ride, which makes it totally worth it for me. I can honestly say that this is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

@@timothy3732 Also, I do my grocery shopping regularly at Trader Joe's, and I just lock it up at the end of the bike rack. Btw - When in the collapsed position it will fit into a Toyota Prius with the seats down.

I just got mine and I love it! My son helped me build it and it really works me out which I needed badly. I have back injuries, neck injuries, and can't run (I hate running to be honest) but this is pretty cool. Only took me a few times to get down the turning and I was off. I need to practice more but I can tell this is going to be my weight loss buddy for sure.

Hey there! Glad you enjoy your StreetStrider. But, I have a question: I'm a keen (race)biker. And when I look at the position of the brake levers, I cannot help wondering how fast your reaction will be in case of emergency stop. When you are in the full process of pulling back and forth the handle bars, I have some trouble believing you can switch fast enough to pressing the brakes for emergencies...I think your response time could be way too high. What's your opinion?

    • @timothy3732

@@janverbanck As a fellow bike rider I wonder how they would do going up the same steep hills I do as well as down.
Can they stop peddling and coast as we do on our bikes when we go down steep hills?
I only see them riding on flat ground which I think it is mainly designed for which makes the bike far superior.

We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

May be a much better option for me, my back, than a bicycle. I love walking and need something else for traveling further via trails. Opted out of having a car.
