I was recently pondering doing something similar to this project. My low dollar project was going to be cloyes timing chain kit that allows advanced cam timing, and then 1.6 roller rocker arms. The 440 hp exhaust manifold are now available as reproductions. Aftermarket intake manifold and carb. Single exhaust with 3 inch pipe and flowmeter muffler
I really like your Chanel i like the content you film. i like your vans. there is zero bad content with your Chanel which is hard to come by these days. thanks have a good day
I'd love to see you do the freshen up on the 440, in addition, might be a good idea to freshen up the transmission with new clutches, steels and seals, you can get a kit for under 200 dollars, may be well worth it. Looking for to the next one.
Good deal, personally I'd love to see the build on it having done pretty much the same thing on my 318, but it's your channel I'll watch whatever you put out here. Thanx👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great idea! They’re good looking cars, you never see them, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one at the track lol. Awhile back I commented something like “Operation: Put the Magnum into the twelves” (or 13’s maybe) but even 14’s in a nice driver is fun. Anyway, post long and post often on this one 👍. Almost forgot to ask… No ‘Socket’ porting?
Make sure the K member mounts ( rubber) haven't rotten away typical on a Magnum, I believe firm feel has solid aluminum k member biscuits and the leaf spread are isolated for noise reduction, so an improved set of rear springs would help to plant the power, Want to see more of your build
This will be really interesting! I would love to see the build on the 440 if you have the chance. If not, then I'll still be eagerly waiting to see the end results. Great video!
Christmas came early this year! Looking forward to another engine prep video, that 440 will definitely have better bottom end than that goldbricking 383. Now that 383 would have been interesting in the Rambler... Oh well. I enjoy your videos, keep warm!
Fun stuff just like the rest of the channel. Show us what you want. It’s only good content if you like showing us. It’s your channel and we are here as guest. 👍
While im interested in the 440 on the cheap, id rather see C&C duster completed and a NNN appearance. Not to mention, drag truck and bomcycle getting some track time. Determine how durable budget builds are. Although a "summer finale", duster vs magnum at the track or mexico. Husband vs wife. Just my .02. Great channel!
Thanks for the interest in our channel ! I don't want to jinx myself, but we haven't lost a low dollar engine in 35 years (oh oh.. there I did it!) The low dollar 318 in the '74 Duster has been taken a pounding since 2016, and the videos don't even cover 1% of the pounding that car has taken !!!! Now that I said that, she'll blow for sure !!!!
A little bit of knowledge on the Chrysler ‘Low Stall’ sticker on those converters. They are actually a High Stall converter and it stalls out around 2,300 RPM’s They r a cheap performance upgrade If you have low cash flow.
@@318willrun It’s confusing, I know. Chrysler even put High Stall decals on some converters, but they lock up around 1300 RPM’s. But here’s the thing. If you buy a rebuilt unit say from AutoZone, the folks who rebuild them do not put the right amount of slip in them. So if you come across an original unit like what you have hold on to it.
That’s a smart move with the timing set. Someone with a lot of experience told me something that you may want to try with that. Pre run the engine to with some light oil in the cylinders to unstick any hung rings. Put it in straight up but leave the front cover off and run a compression test on #1. Advance the cam two degrees at a time and continue compression testing until you don’t see any more increase in cranking compression. Then back it back to the advance position that it peaked compression at. This will be the optimum cam advance for a heavy mostly stock street car. BTW, what rear axle and gears does that tank have in it? 3.21 with the largest tire you can fit under the back would work really well for that, especially if you happen to have a Holley street dominator intake handy.
Yes, I enjoy your videos. If you have the time I would enjoy seeing a bit more of the process. These are the kind of swaps myself and hundreds of gearheads across this land do ourselves. No Kentucky Derby though?
Well I for one would like to see the cleanup process. And you should always be able to trust a guy who collects pedal cars! Lol. Looking forward to seeing this come together. I have a low mileage 440 out of a 78 motorhome that I hope to put to use in one of my projects along the way.
I like this a whole lot! Even a low compression 440 will make huge stump pulling torque with a little performance tuning. The fun part about this is that a big eBay turbo and intercooler plumbed up to a blow through carb along with some imagination could take this to a whole different realm for a lot less than it would take on engine alone. Boost does a great job of overcoming the weak intake port on the big block heads.
I want to swap the 318 for a 440 in my 64 440 2 door hardtop but here in Texas they seem to be a lot more than 400$ for a motor home engine and transmission and every one I’ve seen have the emergency brake on the tail end.
If you have time or the inclination, Id be interested to see the internal work too... Looks like this is going to be a thing and at my kinda budget!! Sadly we didnt get 440 motorhomes in Australia for cheap big block engine pulls
Been a good response so I'm sure we will. I wasn't sure there'd be much interest means it's mainly just prepping it to go into the car and not a horsepower build.
@@318willrun thank you now the hard part is to find some one to do it im in chicago illinois or can i do it myself what do i need to know is it and special way to put in
At almost the 6 minute of the video you said BMW has the flexplate for about $145. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out you meant B&M. Kentucky Derby? You might want to lose some weight if you want to be the jockey.
Low horsepower 440 model. you can call it anything you want but its nothing but a boat anchor 440 model. I have a 1969 440 stoked to a 502 and it is one solid drag motor.
