Great review. I bought it myself & I agree, it’s very comfortable & not noisy at all. If they made an insulated version of the mat, they really would sell a ton of them

Looking to do a motorcycle tour and needing some new camping gear. This has popped up and looks good enough for me. I liked your review and found it very informative. Funnily, I had bought the pillow about 4 hours before I found your review. As for the noise of it, I’m sure it can be sorted out with a couple of beers 😉
Used it on the West Highland Way (Scotland) last week, very comfortable, great night sleep on iy and very lightweight and compact. And I'm 6'3" and 200lbs+
Bought this a month ago and tried it. Very comfortable. It fits on top of my z lite kortinerr sleep mat to protect it from the tent floor. And fits in my army gortex bivvi bag. To make the right value go up I will put a emergency blanket on top in the winter which works on my klymit pad . I can't justify £100 for thermerest incase it pops. I had a comfortable night in a legal wildcamp recently and it is colder due to stream next to me and kept me warm without an emergency blanket on top. Compared to klymit much comfortable. I lay on it in the morning while having a coffee chilling on my side watching a stand up video. And I feel like I am glamping. Highly recomended this matter which weighs the same as my klymit and packs down the same.
Can't wait to try it in the winter. Your 100% right, it takes wild camping to wild glamping. So comfortable. Thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed comment and for giving me the idea for winter use.
Thanks Davey Boy, great review and can't wait to pinch it off you for a try..😜....have to say I might just have to order one now..🙄 Also re: the valve does the one way valve not have a release pull in the middle that allows to deflate under control??? Anyway your costing me a fortune dude..😬.... See you Saturday for the next adventure..👍👍👍
nice video, it's a good pad for sure but having owned one I find it just not wide enough for the way I like to sleep, I almost wish they did an alpine wide version like some other manufacturers then I think they would have a perfect product
Hey prepre73...have you tried the exped synmat mats??? ...mine is long and wide version and when I use my summer mat in find them quite narrow by comparison. May be worth a look..👍
That's a shame it's not wide enough for you. It's give or take a few mm wider than my exped synmat 7ul. My buddy Keith has an exped synmat 7 however he went for the larger size, its about 6 inches longer but also about 1 baffel (4 or 5 inches) wider. The only down side to that is pack size, weight. But if you get a good night's sleep that does not matter
Great review, I'm very close to hitting the button on one of these, just got the exped 7 down mat but been looking at the ul80 for a month now, looks a great mat, keep up the good work bud ATB Adam 👍👍
Hi Adam, honestly it's like sleeping on a proper bed, so comfortable. Everyone I know who has one says it's the best mattress they have ever owned. The exped will be for winter use from now on.
I just got two of their Yizi Lite 750 chairs. 1.5lb chair that packs down really small for a excellent price. Quite comfortable too! Now if they released a double sized sleeping pad for me and the wife I'd be in business!
These are good mats but no way in my opinion are they 3 season. Very comfy summer/spring but it gets very cold on it. Personally my go to mat now is the big agnes air core insulated. I think you'll like that mat. The trekology pillow is awesome though. Good upload 👍
Thanks very much, for me, I have used it to 6 degrees and on my Zmat it copped fine. I have a bit of a mat fetish so will check out the big agnes one, thanks again
those pump sacks are great aren’t they and you can also use it as a stuff sack to store your clothes.... the sea to summit pump sack also has the same valve arrangement.... love my auluft 2 pillow and i might be getting me a UL80 too 😆😄.... atb Dave Mc
I waited years before getting one, thought they were a gimmick but then tried one and was instantly converted. They are great. The mat and pillow also are some of the first things I pack each trip, albeit the mattress not in the winter
The matt looks and sound comfortable but the only reason I haven't bought one is the warmth. I'm dying for someone to review it in colder weather but I'm only a slim guy and staying warm isnt easy. Have you managed to do a night on it in colder conditions?
I will review it for colder months, I have tried it and to be honest, it's no good for cold weather. Its okay at best if I put my Zmat beneath it, that has a 2.2 r value, but the UL80 while my goto mat for 3 seasons just won't hack it once it gets below 4 degrees for me at least
@@Daveyboygoeswild that’s great thanks for letting me know. Looks like I need one of the matts from the big boys. Shame this one is long enough for me and looks nice and comfortable.
There’s a lot of reviews that said there’s random seam issues and deflating. It put me off buying because it seemed hit and miss, I was gutted because it looked so comfy :/
I personally have not had a problem, but a friend of mine has had an issue where it deflates. Apparantly there is a newer version out that stops that happening, but I have not tried the new one out. I have been mostly hammock camping this year in my Haven XL which has a matress of its own.
Nice review sir!! Your not a fat basterd! Lol..your just big boned! Lol Anyways you have a great attitude! I just ordered this mat with the pump sack. Hope it works out good. Thanks! Hike on!
My UL80 started letting air out of the side seem slow puncture i cant find exactly where it is tried repairing, it was a fantastic mattress for my 23 night hike in Norway, still kept it for emergencies if my other mat dies on me, it was comfortable and not a noisy mat! shame it leaked on me probably Inflated to much, I used a foil mattress and camping in -7 -8 in 1800 altitudes in my lanshan!
Was it still under warranty and if so, were you able to exchange it. I was thinking of getting an Alpkit mat, mainly because Alpkit give a 3 year guarantee. As long as you don't puncture it, if a mat lasts 3 years, that's good enough for me.
@@brianmorrison9168 I’ve had 2 of these mats now and both have let me down. Trekology were very good and did send me replacements out at no cost. All well and good but it didn’t stop me having the crap nights sleeps when they deflated on me. I’d avoid them. I’ve seen a lot of people reviewing these mats after being sent them and all they really mention is how comfy they are, I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed in the quality and longevity of them once lockdown is over and they can finally get out and use them in anger.
@@northernimagesphotography Thank you for your detailed reply. I was all set to go for the UL80 after realising the Alpkit Cloudbase was not as thick. @@brianmorrison9168 cheers, I’ve just been and watched his video. Almost identical experience. As he says the only negative reviews you see if this are on amazon. I went for the klymit insulated static v off amazon for £62 . It’s near enough same weight & pack size but just as comfy, I’m a side sleeper too. I’ll have to give that decathlon one a nosey for when the nephew comes with me in summer.
Thanks, I am a warm sleeper, so from about April to October I use a quilt, got it from Ali Express, its the Ice flame. In the winter I use an OEX Leviathan. Hope that helps
The UL80 is non insulated so it's not great for colder conditions. I too am a warm sleeper, if used with something like a Zmat (I have a robens copy) I would say it's hoot to about 4 or 5 degrees but wouldn't want to go any lower than that.
Ive just had one of those mats and as good as the design is i could have done with a wider mat. Ive emailed the manufacturers and they dont/wont make a wider one. I sleep on my side but have rolled off it. If only the did one say 20 cm wider. I find my elbows off the edges if i lay on my back. Slightly noisy to. I spent the afternoon on it on my back but not asleep and it was super comfy. Unfortunately great design but not suitable for me.
A couple of people have said that, which I find strange, I know exped do a wider mat, but in the long version which touches the end of my tent so risks having the fly sheet and inner touch allowing water to cross and soaking the foot box of the sleeping bag. The Trekology UL80 is the standard size of 98% of the single person sleeping pads. Maybe you should look for a small double air mattress.
I have just watched The English Woodsmans phoxx 2 video. Based on that, I think it would be a tight squeeze, the head and feet may well come very close to or might touch the inner, but as long as the inner and outer don't touch I can't see an issue. If it were me, I would buy one from Amazon so you can return it should it be too big.
Hi Tim, it's not particularly any heavier than my other mats. I don't have an ultra light weight mat to. Compare it too. I know I am happy to carry it for the comfort level I get from it.
Hi Davy, I have the mat and it’s great. Trekology do not sell a snozzle bag. I now because I contacted them and asked. Such a shame as it’s hard work blowing it up. Do you have a link to the snozzle bag that you used or a model number. Cheers.
