There is so much history to the Topkapi Palace it is impossible to touch on everything we learned. If you're in town, this is a must see destination. Get a guide and give it a full day of your attention. We were on site for around 4-5 hours and were exhausted afterwards. Keep in mind the tour may be nearly 2 hours, but they aren't allowed to necessarily tour you through the rooms. So after the tour you then tour through on your own, and the Haram is it's own separate affair. Pun intended. No really, with an additional admission fee. I feel like this area we probably missed a lot of detail, so an audio guide would have been good in retrospect.
This video walks you through the palace but keep in mind a lot of the spaces you weren't allowed to film in OR were under renovation so visiting for yourself can not be replaced. Also, I would suggest watching Rise of the Ottoman Empire on Netflix to get you in the state of mind before visiting the palace and give you a real feel for the accomplishment of taking Constantinople that set up the pretense for building this amazing palace. It was truly a symbol of the rise of one of the greatest empires of the world.

How's it going? Thanks for the kind words. The history in Turkey runs deep! We usually do more vlog style stuff but we broke our camera on the Bosphorus Cruise and it was still getting repaired when we shot this. It was shot on our point and shoot. We are from St. Petersburg, Florida which is part of Tampa Bay. Have you been?
@@JustAdrift What kind of camera were you using, that broke? It looks pretty good on that point and shoot I actually use a point and shoot for my vlogs but I got a pretty good one that just came out. I prefer a pocket sized camera over a bulky one. No but always wanted to visit Tampa Bay because of Bush Gardens lol I've been to Miami and Orlando so far but really want to move out to Florida someday, getting tired of NYC!
