  • This video was done in Corel X6 but will work for older versions also.
    This video shows how to remove a background from a photo. We also use a drop shadow and power clip to finish our project.

    Wonderful tutorial. No music, excellent commentary, succinct and with meaningful short major steps recap. Still fully relevant today using CGS 2019. 👍👌😊

  • @NormBa

    Yes I do this. But it can be labor intensive. I wonder if there's an intelligent s/w just for this specific application which has the smarts to differentiate object from background. That would be really nice.

      The first thing to check is that the "Bitmap" is selected. then the button should be active.
      Also make sure the object selected is a "Bitmap" not a Document Object.

    Thanks for the video, very helpful! This is almost exactly what I'm trying to do, but my image has several straight lines. How do you draw straight lines using the highlighter tool? The usual control key doesn't seem to work in the cutout lab, and my freehand straight lines are really bad (unless I'm doing it wrong which is totally possible!). I'm using Corel Draw x8.

    • @Coreldrawhelp
      @Coreldrawhelp  6 років тому +1

      As far as I know there is not a way to force a line to be "Straight". But it should not matter that much. As long as the highlight covers the line, the exact "Straightness" should be determined by the artwork not the highlighter.

    • @michellemccartan2761
      @michellemccartan2761 6 років тому

      Thank you for answering, I guess I can make the highlight tool wider & then clean it up afterwards.

      Just save the CorelDraw file and reload it and place any background you want behind the cut image. Save the .cdr file.

    When you chose your photo it was a jpeg. When you dragged and dropped it to your new corel draw document, it changed to a bitmap. Did you have to tell it to do that or did it do it automatically? Thank you in advance.

    • @Coreldrawhelp

      Lisa Fidler Walter A jpeg is a type of bitmap so that was done automatically.

      Ferzan Dokumaci Your photos show your "Edit bitmap" buttons are not highlighted.
      The most obvious cause would be that you do not have your "Bitmap" selected or what is selected is not a bitmap. When you select the object make sure your status bar says it is a bitmap. If it say something like "Document object" or something else it is not a bitmap. Hope this helps.
