I was a child when my parents watched the news on TV and we asked, full of fear, where it was. They told us it was in Israel. As Germans and Catholics, we were deeply shocked. We knew about the traumatic war experiences of our German parents when they were children and had to come to terms with it ourselves. We were only just beginning to learn about the Holocaust and the crimes. That was a really key experience because we realized that what our parents had experienced was nothing compared to what Jewish people had to endure. Never forget. 🙏from Germany.

Fortunately, Israel won, but you have to give Egypt credit for a brilliant opening move across the Suez Canal. Egypt's politicians then over-rode the generals and sabotaged themselves. It's a real shame that the US stopped Israel from taking Cairo and Damascus. That would have been a strong hint to leave Israel alone.
