Once completed I will move into my van to join the van life movement in Australia, allowing me to live, work and travel full time! I cannot wait to get out there and overland Australia 🙌🏼

Who else would like a skylight like that over their bed at night?
So sorry this one took me so long everyone! That was quite the learning curve and took up all my brain power. I'm bloody glad that's behind me.
Now to figure out what step is next 🤔
Love the skylight and so will Occy.
@@suzannealcantara7725 he bloody better!
So happy for you that it's done. It looks amazing.
yeah defo would, now I know how it goes in.
Love the whole fan and skylight concept for the van. Btw. you should check your YT and affiliate links in the video description, some are leading to 404.
Max, don't worry about the length and the time when you post. We wiil enjoy whatever you do and half a day, a day or even a week later is no big deal!!
Cheers 😘
Xemitz really appreciate that!
I agree. I always think the videos should be longer on all my favorite van lifers channels.
I think he cares because it matters to the algorithm which is his source of income.
My take: I would not watch a video over 40 min long cause I am not building a van or interested in doing so in the short term.
Agreed 100%
Doesnt matter how long they are, I'll still be watching and I'm sure everyone else will too..Great Job..
Dee Luu aw thank you Dee 🙏🏼❤️
Can't wait to see Occy hanging out with you. You're giving him his best life ever. Loved seeing the sheep roam in your intro.
Really liking your videos.
Aww thanks Suzanne, I can't wait either!
Perfectionist Max! This build series is going to help SO many people! Great work! I think we need that exact skylight...
Vanwives haha yesss ladies you should def add one. Bazza will love looking at the stars ✨
I found Vanwives through you, Max. I’m still watching Max & watching Vanwives with Bella & Izzy too. Just waiting for Occy!
is it a marine hatch?
Always put a sacrificial filter on your cameras. Could just be a UV filter.
Lesson learnt!
agreed!
a skylight 1A if nothing else - they’re cheap and the first line of defence. Is the lens actually pitted from the shavings?
Eric B exaaaactly. I would have lost so many lenses without them.
Van name:Occmobile.
I have added links (both Australian and US) to the main products I used in this video in the video description in case this gets you yearning to start your own project! For the Eternabond tape, that was the only place I could find in Aus that had it although they shipped it pretty quick.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and words of support, very much appreciated 🙏🏼❤️
How about that putty tape? Cant seem to locate it anywhere in Aus.
I am so impressed by ppl like you who have the ingenuity and ambition to do a van build. I am so mechanically challenged that I can't even open up a fold up table😊 You did a great job! You are so humble which makes you so likable. .Regards from the old lady in Nova Scotia
Loving the detail in these videos! Also love that there's no strict schedule to the videos, a nice surprise when they do upload 👌😃
Haha thank you Erika. I mean, I was hoping for at least the Sunday uploads but sometimes the build takes over!
@@MaxLeeandOccy the build is what's important, not adhering to self-imposed video schedules. we're interested in the details and you keeping it real, not breaking your back for Sundays. as you said, shit happens! love from Blighty x
My daughter bear (aged 8) and I have been binge watching all your adventures. After seeing them shes now more determined then ever that I need to buy us a van ... so let the planning commence ..... from Worcester, UK
I love that you show the struggles of DIY building !! All these videos make it seem like a piece of cake and it rarely ever is....
Thank you! A lot of work for you to film as you go, but SO helpful to see in detail how you are doing this build. Can’t begin to tell you how valuable this is to someone who is just in the planning stages and screwing up their courage to do a conversion. Much appreciated!
It’s never good to screw up but, without them, we don’t learn. That’s my mom feedback. 😂Looking forward to watching the next step in the conversion. Have a good week Max. One day closer to Occy coming home!!!🎉
Max! You're killing it! This video showcases your attention to detail. Can you tell us more about the farm?
Your attitude and spirit are a refreshing escape- even when your frustrated, there is something calming that seems to emanate from you. Loved the video
Don't care about the length of the vids Max, they're great and so good to see you slogging through this amazing process! Don't know you but feel proud of you after all you've had to deal with recently especially after your forced separation with the gorgeous Occy! Not sure how I'd cope if I was apart from my pup, Luna! Planning another move abroad to a second country (moved from UK to Ireland 6.5 years ago) and this is very inspirational for building stuff and living our dream in the near future. So inspired, thank you so much! 💕🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻💕
Go Max! Get stuck into it. How awesome to look at the stars while lying in bed. Your efforts will be well worth it. Love watching every step. Where you are looks incredible & makes me long for the countryside. Hearing the Maggie’s in the morning. So quiet, calming and relaxing. Enjoy & keep up the great work.
Thanks for giving me the confidence to tackle my own fan install! I'm an average DIYer at best but i'm also a perfectionist so I love seeing people spend heaps of time getting stuff right.
Max, so glad to see you back on U Tube with kind of a restart in life. You are very brave to take on a project of this size, by yourself. The end results will be well worth the journey.
Ralph Worth thanks mate!
Absolutely love that sky light!!
Really enjoying the videos. It’s a very relaxing watch and I’m glad you’re showing all the bumps in the road along the way. You’re showing that persistence is key to accomplishing projects that you may not be super knowledgeable about. Build looks great so far 🤘🏼
Thanks Stephanie!
super appreciate seeing how hard things can get, especially as one person tackling this project. helps me understand whats realistic for when i build mine.
My wife still reminds me of the day I did some angle grinding in a new fleece. Wear it on Sundays now as it’s very holy!
nowtleft2 😂😂😂
What a view. Loving the sheep grazing and moving about.
Ohhhhh love this series so far 🙌🏼❤️
So glad to hear it!
So impressed with your work! The sun roof is AMAZING! Really cant wait to watch this van come to life! Thanks Max......Occy is going to love his new home!😍😍🐕🐕🐕🐕😷😷😷😷😷🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐📷📷📷📷
Oh Max that skylight is a game changer 😍 I can't wait to see the finished product. This series is awesome, you explain everything so well. Best of luck with the rest of the build and sorry about the lens but the video looks great to me. 😁
Evey Fitzpatrick thanks mate!
I want to say I am loving this renovation video. Also I am sorry about you and Lee, last year another widow I fell in love with all the sudden called it off. I am still extremely struggling with losing my wife to cancer then my girlfriend who lost her husband to cancer too left me. It made me so sick I was hospitalized I still am missing her beyond words but your videos have been an amazing escape. Thank you so much!
So sorry to hear mate, i am glad you are enjoying my brother's videos. Keep well
That was amazing! Video definitely wasn’t long, it went so fast! Loved it!
Aww thank you! ❤️
Best max video ever. I truly appreciate the hammering of your fingers. Makes it real. Good on you!
Love the way you persevere with jobs. I used an angle grinder on the inside of a classic car and ruined all the glass! Cost me a fortune to replace. Never again! I feel your pain.
You have the perfect set up to work your new van... great space for a workshop. BTW, your family’s farm is very beautiful.
That lens looks beat but can’t see it in the footage - keep on using it for sure! Sweet skylight
Smashing it once again Max. Who hasn’t made a mistake and felt that feeling in the pit of your stomach. Great work👍🙏
Greg would be proud! He does the best tutorial videos on YT even if he’s a bit belt & braces sometimes, good luck with the build.
Tony Sheabo I hope so!
My two boys (aged 9 and 7) and I have followed your adventures since the beginning. I am excited to follow you both again as you journey out on separate paths.
Your Australian adventures are going to be amazing. I can’t wait for you to share our beautiful Australia with the world. I can’t wait to see the end result 😍
Great vid Max! Enjoyed it a lot! I’m so exited seeing you travel in this one with Occy✌🏻❤️
Cracking video, it’s good to see the step by step process of this build. Can’t wait to see what happens in future videos.
I'd like a full episode of just you talking to your friend lol.... love that Australian slang and accent
Hi Max! Really enjoying your clips ( not finding them long at all ) and also they are so relatable. Thank you for keeping them real, not all happy and bubbly, 'cause life is about embracing all the aspects of it. Ride the waves of life! Peace and Love from Romania !
“I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me want to dream” ~
Vincent Van Gogh ✨
The skylight is absolutely wonderful, Max - if it’s going to be one of the central features of the theme perhaps you should name her Skye??💫🌛🌞
"Starry, starry night, paint your palette blue and grey, look out on a summer's day.... " Should the van be called Vincent??
Love that quote!!
The skylight is just perfect! A bug screen and a black out shade, you can't get much better than that! I think with two fans and the screened skylight, the air flow will be wonderful.
Use a UV Filter threaded on your lenses to protect the front glass, and you will never have such issues.
You can send your Lens in for service and get the Front Glass Element replaced or cleaned re-polished.
Yeah I have seen the factory guys do some amazing stuff with lens repair. Send them an email. Next time clear UV filter 😁
True, front element replacement is common and reasonably affordable. You may only notice the damage in backlit scenes, but it will always effect picture quality. A single beautiful backlit shot can be worth $200, imho. Great content, worth the investment in repair. Cheers!
Definitely going to invest in a new UV filter! Panasonic are saying that it’s “not repairable” but I have found a guy in Melbourne that thinks he can do it!
@@MaxLeeandOccy I was wondering if it could be polished out or replace just that glass. The video seemed fine to me after, but I totally get the frustration level and wish for a real life "rewind" button.
So stoked you're sharing. It's the beginning of a new journey. Don't stress the length, we enjoy the thorough and thoughtful build 🤙🏽🤙🏽🍻
Sorry about your camera but just like you said shit happens. At least you are honest about these mistakes.
Thanks Suzanne!
@@MaxLeeandOccy these build videos are so refreshing and SO good! .. esp as you include struggles, all part of it. Thanks for bringing us along!
I am enjoying your views of the country side. I got hooked on McLeod’s Daughters years ago and I absolutely loved it. This is so reminiscent of some of that scenery.
My first thought for your Van name was “Phoenix”. Because you are definitely rising from the ashes🇦🇺❤️🇨🇦🐾❤️
Ha and don't forget I have a bad phoenix tattoo on my back 😉
@@MaxLeeandOccy
so it fits. the evidence stands on the back the Van is definitely yours
if you so choose that name Phoenix
Gypsy Rover Adventures as a Phoenician in Arizona I ❤️ that name 😄
Absolutely!
@@MaxLeeandOccy my name in phoenix😂
Max love, love, love your videos. I am trying to build out a Ford Transit Connect and have no skills what-so-ever. I am scared to death, and keep watching videos to gain the confidence needed. Thousands of videos in and still working on it. LOL Thank you for showing and explaining each step. Best videos for this so far. You are an inspiration for so many who have and will find you. Thanks again
Hi Max, loving the build so far and that location is unreal! Just wanted to let you know that the link to the Max & Occy channel in the description appears to be broken (at least it is for me).
Thanks mate! Ive now fixed it : )
I really admire your patience! I'm not surprised now that van conversion takes so much time. Well done, mate. Hugs from UK xx
Absolutely loving this series. Keep them coming, I am currently on a search for a van to do exactly the same, So that I can take my 4 year old son around Australia in 2021. As a single mum that can pack up and take him anywhere I am so excited to be seeing our beautiful country. Keep them coming.
Great video, hats off to you doing this alone I wouldn’t have the patience. Also why are the videos being uploaded on this Chanel and not max and Occy?
He's waiting until Occy arrives home to transfer over and also to give subscribers time to follow him over to the new channel.
Joseph Telford thanks mate. And yeah there’s a few reasons that I listed on the top comment of the last video. Monetization (or lack there of it in the ‘Max & Occy’ channel) is a big one. Still got to pay the bills!
What a great final job. Looks real good
We’re just happy and excited to see you! We support you and can’t wait to see you adventuring on with Occy, using your new channel, and living your best life! Sending you all the best vibes!
Excellent planning and well done on the fans and sky light job Max!
Yes, Greg Virgoe sure is some man with regard to engineering and then has the cherry on top in sharing his free guidence video tutorials!
I am so sorry to see the damage to your camera lens, oh man! Everybody makes mistakes, however, great to see how well you handled failure!
Also a great thumbs up in seeing your effort to-date with this twin rear wheel Iveco Van Conversion!
Can't wait for the next update - like always, we'll presented Max! Stay safe! 👌
Love watching this build...helps me realize the actual time investment....great job so far
I've subscribed to your new channel with Occy. Cant wait until you get that started and you and Occy are back together.
Love the sheep! Your videos are never to long, interesting content for my future van build.
Can't tell the lens is damaged, keep using it.
I actually liked the longer video and you showing more in detail how you have to put in the fans and the skylight and getting it all in one video. I love your skylight, I can't wait to see how that works when your van is finished on the inside. I'm sorry about your lens, what a bummer that stuff is so expensive but I thought all the footage that you did get together looked really great. Can't wait to see the rest of your build!
Love the honesty and gentle pace of your videos. Don't worry about how long they are, it's just great to follow you on your journey :)
That skylight is everything!
what a beautiful back drop you have, theres nothing better than the Australian country side. so glad i found your channel im loving listening and watching you do this build .
It's all very nice to see vlogs with finished tours, but watching the process and seeing the struggle highlights the scope of your achievement. Thank you for letting me realize this is something I/we could actually do ourselves; and letting us follow along, cheering your progress and commiserating with you when it doesn't go smoothly.
Hey dude, just dropped here after the Instagram link and honestly I wouldn't expected to be immediately hooked that fast. I guess is also the stunning place where you are doing this coupled with your passion and peacefulness. I truly admire it. Respect from the bottom of my heart, ciao from an Italian bud.🤙🏻
I really like that window too. That thing is awesome!!
Don't stress with the video schedule! We wait a bit and are here even though the material comes out later! Yes, it would be nice to have such a large roof hatch in my van but I have 570W of solar panels when I live up here in the dark north so there is not much free roof space left! Have a good one!
Great job Max 👍
I'm in WA 🇦🇺 still doing my own van build, it's taking forever, but am enjoying the journey.
I completely stripped out the original chabby build (would not recommend doing this, buy an empty van).
In a fortnight am removing the AC unit on the roof and replacing it with a Maxxair Maxxfan as have found over the last year or so have never used the AC as mainly bush camp.
I am really enjoying seeing the van come together. Thank you so much for continuing to vlog for us all. Don’t ever feel rushed or stressed on uploading so fast. We will all be here and will wait patiently for your content 😁.
That skylight is amazing! So much natural light and the fact that it has a screen AND black out shade. Fantastic!
Hi Max, so good to see you psyched about every day of filming. That framing you made for the skylights was absolute killer. I’m not sure I understood how you did that, but then I’m baking a cake and watching too, so....!!!!
So fun to watch you paying real close to detail on everything. I can see how you would be a great emt. As well, with such a friendly and grounded personality.
I don’t know if I could do all this myself, but I do have the dream. Love love love following you. Can I say I miss Lee too? But alas, change is in the air and we’re just goin with it. It’s good to have our projects and our dreams. Will keep us going. Meanwhile, do you tend those adorable sheep as well? Love to you💗🧡💜💛💚💜💙🌱🌻😎❤️🙈🙊🐓🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
This van is gonna be AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! WOW... I can not wait.. Nice work Max.. I'm here for it..
Don't worry about the length or how long it takes to posts these. Were just happy when you post!
I love u
❤️
"That's how it's gonna happen in my head..." is pretty much my life motto.
Super build. Detailed to the core.
Wow! That skylight is going to be awesome Max. What a great idea. Great job on all those roof penetrations. Thanks you learned me some cool tricks. I'm looking forward to the next lesson.🍻
Love the raw footage ;). I find it so impressive that you can do all that on your own! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build :). Stay safe!
I can't wait for Occy to come home. Really enjoying your videos.
Thoroughly enjoying your videos Max! Love the skylight!
nice job Max. you will appreciate that extra light and circulation.
Well done great job! And good for you for taking on the lessons, not getting defeated by them and for sharing them with us all it's all really helpful stuff! Look forward to seeing what's next :)
That skylight is going to be awesome!!!! ❤
You skills and knowledge are amazing...i'm always impressed Max👍
This was so fun to watch because it was so in depth with the process. Is anyone else feeling ‘Skylight’ as the name for the van?
Awesome job, thanks for explaining so thoroughly and showing it doesn't always go smoothly. I used Greg Virgos contour marker idea with mine build too 😁👍, Ive got a long way to go and learning on the job... As you say it takes a looong time. How deceiving some van build videos are. Keep up the good work 💪🏼, the fans and vent look great.
Greg is amazing. I love that you have watched him too! He was a life saver with that exact tool when we were building cabinets that needed to fit flush to our curved walls and ceiling. We converted a cargo van with a high top custom roof...curves galore!
Looking forward to your next video, keep your good work going, it’s so inspirational 👍🏻
Absolutely love the skylight, such a great addition to bring in more light. Gutted about your lens, my heart dropped for you when you realised what had happened! I remember fitting our one (small) fan was a big deal, but you just went and cut three massive holes and fitted two fans and a skylight in one go, on your own! You did an awesome job Max ☺️
Haha thanks guys!
Brilliant video, loved how in depth your videos are and the beautiful scenery
This is such a professional work. Fun watching the progress, thanks!
That engine compartment is so clean, love seeing one that looks like that.
You did a great job there, even though you had some mishaps, you didn't give up, Don't know you personally but I'm very proud of you. Great job mate. Stay safe and healthy.
You are the coolest handiest dude ever! Ingenious! With such an addictive energy 💜. please add this build to your channel. I too can't name things before seeing the final product, I'm sure you will find something fitting for her
Love the skylight! Very well done.
Well sealed above. Could always ad a bead of caulk between the wood and roof in the inside to perfect the fit and seal. Also would get rid of any creak or rattle.
A little concerned the 2 frames could distort the rood and crack a frame over time. Plenty of puddy tape and caulk keeps them neutral clamped though.
Love the skylight! Great job!!!
Enjoying the build series. Can’t wait to see your future adventures!
MAX! Congrats! Great job! That was huge!
Nice job Max. I've cooked a few things with the grinding sparks as well but thankfully nothing that expensive. Looking forward to seeing this all come together.
Wow these step by step videos are pretty incredible. Thanks for all the detail so helpful 😊 👍
