Great idea. I am going to give this a try. I use an airbrush to paint miniatures and the flow aid is used to help the water break the surface tension of the paint as it is sprayed on the miniature, also it helps prevent tip dry on the needle of the airbrush. It is hard to find flow aid for airbrushes that does not cost an arm and a leg.
I'm one of those poor folk to . I feel you hun . I started out with flowtroll and water . Made 140 paintings . U should see my 1st. One .lol But I just started buying wal-mart and hobby lobby paints than went to Micheals . Have a small room , garage is to cold or hot . Im wanting to get more interference and paint and piments , and so on . Saving to get where i can maybe make Beautiful art . Thanks for sharing , enjoyed it . Be safe and God Bless 🤩😊🤗🙏🙏👍
Thank you for the great tip. Love that wall mounted radio. Does it have an intercom with it? My parent's house had a built-in tube based radio/intercom in their 1958 home they bought brand new for $12,000. I used photographic "wetting agent" back in the film days that was probably no more than detergent and water.
Does this age well stay good for a long time? I just mixed up 64 oz worth and I don’t do poring just using it for my acrylic painting as effects. So 64 oz will last me a long time. Great vid saved me a lot of money thanks.
I do add water but I also add a little bit of flow aid to my pouring medium to help break the surface tension in the paint mix and make it flow better. Even though water is a liquid and makes the paint fluid, it still has some surface tension. You can see that when you add water to a cup. Once the cup is full of water, if you keep adding water to the cup drop by drop, the water in the cup won’t overflow, instead it will make a dome shape above the cup rim because the molecules of water are holding on to each other. That is called surface tension and is what is preventing the water from overflowing. If you add a surface tension breaker like flow aid to the water, the water molecules would not stick to each other and would help the water flow more freely. Flow aid is just used to make the paint mixture flow better without having to dilute the paint with too much water. So technically you use BOTH water and a little bit of flow aid to your acrylic paint.

I use it but found that the color white (tried artist brands) does not do well with Flow-Aid unless want to make it more transparent? Now thought all whites were “equal” but (chemically) did better w misting on pallet w water 🤔? Yet with yellows & greens really covers! So found white not fav of mine but will cover (9 coats before no FA)!
Thank you very much for the info! May I ask you how much of this do you use in the mixing? It's just used as a replacement for the water inside the mixture?
Are you saying that this recipe is in place of floetrol? You mention flow aid but I don’t know what that is. Also is this recipe used as a pouring medium to get cells? Thank you.
No. Unfortunately it is not a replacement for floetrol. I use a little bit of flow aid in the pouring medium recipe that you can find inside my beginners course. It is the recipe found in the bonus section. I just use it to make my paint and pouring medium mix a little bit more slippery so that it can glide better on the canvas surface. It helps the paint flow better without having to make it too watery, which will break the paint binders and make the paint crack when dry. But the recipe that I use with flow aid is one of my favorites to use for making cells with silicone oil. The cells hold up really well.
I just try to give out useful info that you might need later. I like explaining the why behind the main point because then if you have issues, you could think of possible reasons of why it didn't work out.
@@ArtasiaLand I appreciate it all.I’m knew you this process and don’t have flow aid. It’s 2 am and here you are! Thank you so much and look forward to getting to know your channel. ♥️

Thank you! Flow Aid for an average of $2 an ounce will break the bank for avid crafters.
Yes, it can be quite expensive. Hope this alternative works for you
Thank you for doing your informative videos. They are so helpful!

I would love to know how well it works for an airbrush! Let me know if you give it a try
How did it go? :)
I will certainly try the rinse aid 😉 thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Wow, this is so interesting! I'm definitely going to try this, especially with the rinse aid.
Let me know how it goes. I like the rinse aid because it doesn’t cause bubbles like regular dish soap.
Fantastic video, very informative! Thanks very much.
Glad it was helpful!
I tried adding a bit of Flow-Aid to a test of consistency & it did work so now want to try making my own!
For sure using distilled water. Ty.
Your welcome! Let me know how it goes
Thank you Lioda!
Thank you for sharing this with us ❤

Let's save money where we can!
Awesome idea
very interesting and educational, thank you for the video.
Your welcome!
Thank you so much, I am on my way now to Walmart... wow you saved the bank... Thanks again. The Artist's Loft Flow Acrylic is expensive.
Glad I could help!
Can this be used on other things like fountain or gelly roll pen inks?
In a pinch I can use Laundry soap, correct? No alcohol, but what about Denatured alcohol? Any difference?

Yes, it has an intercom. It is pretty fun to use. Wow, I wish homes were that cheap now a days! 😂
How much of the mixture to put in with the paint to pour it?

I’ve kept it for several months and it kept well. Maybe use distilled water just to make sure it lasts longer
If i use the dish detergent what would be the radios?
I am not sure about this. I have not used dish detergent because it makes so many bubbles.
Do you use this in place of floetrol?
No. This just helps the floetrol and paint mix floe a little better but it is not a substitute for floetrol or pouring medium
Thanks
Welcome 🤗
Can I use fabric softener?
I have never tried fabric softener so I don’t know.
I am slightly confused, would you use the flow aid in place of the water you would add to the paint?

It’s in the video. 1/2 tsp to 32 ounces I believe.
1/4 tsp to 32 ounces Distilled water.
i heard that i can make transparent paint using the flow aid is this true????
Can I use Listerine instead of Rinse Aid?
I don’t think Listerine will work
@@ArtasiaLand Thank you.
Is this just for pouring paint or is it also for use in airbrushes?
I have not tried it for airbrushes but I am assuming it would also work.
Try hair gell!!
Can you write the formula here please? for people who don't understand English very well. I also don't understand what "jet dry" is. thank you

And that’s ok.
I wouldn't use the Jet Dry since rinsing aids are acidic. The art won't last long.
but way too much talking
